Who makes your favorite patty melt?
Pann's or Boneyard Bistro depending on which part of town I'm in.
Langers Deli #19 for breakfast ?
NS1... that is just a magical vision. I get the first two all the time but the corned beef hash is taking it to another level of perfection.
Looking For Restaurant With Great Bone Marrow / Marrow-Based Dish
Boneyard Bistro has a hickory smoked bone marrow on their menu.
Carne Asada Burrito or Taco in Los Angeles
Drive to Colorado Blvd in Eagle Rock, just west of Eagle Rock Blvd in front of the Comfort Inn after 8:30pm any weeknight (weekends too but the guy who runs the truck on weekends doesn't prepare the food the same way) and you'll see a rundown-looking truck parked there. That's Fred's truck. He's been serving up carne asada for over 30 years in the same truck and location and ONLY carne asada. It is the best carne asada I've ever had, and I've been eating there for almost 20 of those 30 years. Treat yourself to a carne asada quesadilla, and an all-meat burrito with (only) salsa and cheese. EVERYONE I've taken there has become addicted. On my 39th b-day, my friend and I had the quesadilla and burrito, and then drove to Providence for the dessert tasting menu afterwards... THAT is how good the carne asada is. Now stop reading this post and GO!!! Enjoy!!
best paella restaurant in Los Angeles, preferably on the westside
While not on the westside, I really like the paella at Spain Restaurant on Glendale Blvd. near Silverlake.
Where is THE best Panna Cotta in greater Los Angeles or Orange County?
Bashan in Montrose has a panna cotta dish on their dessert menu and it is absolutely DELICIOUS...
"Buttermilk Panna Cotta, Pomegranate granita, kalamata olive caramel, puff pastry biscuits"

The Ten Best Things To Eat In LA Right Now
Mother Dough is definitely worth visiting.
Lamajeune (Armenian Pizza) in SFV?
The best I've ever had (and I've been eating lahmajune since I was a kid) is Taron Bakery in Hollywood, Glendale, or North Hollywood. They also make great spinach and cheese beoregs.
Custom salads in and around North Hollywood?
Healthyca on Lankershim makes some outstanding salads (my favorite is the ratatouille salad) along with tasty sandwiches. The Gelson's salad bar on Laurel Canyon Blvd is one of the best around.
A REALLY HOT sausage..
Which sandwich do you recommend there? Anything else worth trying out on their menu?
I have to go to BOA...what to order?
I remember both items Servorg mentioned as being nice. I thought the Mac and Cheese was excellent at the time I tried it about 18 months ago.
Jaybee's Bar-B-Q in Gardena
I'd rank Jaybee's near the bottom of the list for BBQ in LA. Pulled pork was dry, pork sandwich was cooked too quickly and rubbery, ribs were stuck tight to the bone because they were rushed in the cooking process, sides were mediocre at best and lacking flavor. I'm sure it had its good days but not the day I was there. Maybe being featured on DDD was a bad thing because Guy tends to be the kiss of death to quality and flavor to most places he visits.
Where to get good breakfast AND good coffee
I agree... Black Cow has excellent coffee. They were using Royal Supreme blend from LAMill but they've recently switched it out for another great blend (can't remember off the top of my head). Their cornbread skillets are the best item on the menu, IMHO.
Where's the good posole? And when?
I recently tried the posole at La CabaƱita in Montrose, CA and it was very good.

Are there any decent vegetarian tamale options?
The cheese tamales at Juanitos' Tamales are exceptional. Everyone who I've introduced them to falls in love and raves about their cheese/chile tamales.

Best Soup
Yes!!! The Nabeyaki Udon at Sanuki No Sato is fantastic. Just had it yesterday and it was perfect for a cold day.
Belgian Fries!
I concur with Wurstkuche fries being pretty damn good... I always get two orders so I can get my fix and not wait in their awful line twice.

Pann's
Agreed with wienermobile. Their chicken wings and biscuits are great comfort food as well... maybe not the best in town but certainly worth eating.
Urasawa
Thank you for the great review. I keep telling myself that $500/person for sushi is absolutely outrageous considering all of the sushi available in this town. However, your review and photos truly convery the magic in Urasawa's creations. I'm converted now and will be saving up for it.

Great Tuna Melt!
Thank you Will for this recommendation! I love tuna melts and have been searching for a selection of places to get my fix. Your experience sounds great and I will certainly give Colonial Kitchen a shot.
Speaking of tuna melts, I remember Larry Parkers off of Beverly having a great one called the Michael Jackson... juicy, grilled to perfection on sourdough with melted cheese to top it all off. They're closed now but I still have wonderful memories of that sandwich.

Best fried chicken in LA? where is it?
Wait!! Jim Dandy's is no longer?!?! NO!!!!!!!
Best place you ate at this week?
I ate at STREET exactly a week ago and I'm still salivating. Must go back soon!!
Offal
Some Armenian or Middle-Eastern markets will also carry these items. Golden Farms on San Fernando Rd carries these items... 6501 San Fernando Rd, Glendale, CA 91201
Weekend in Santa Barbara
While not necessarily the most romantic, it is (IMHO) one of the best and can't-be-missed restaurants in Santa Barbara... The Palace Cafe and Grill... http://www.palacegrill.com. They are open for both lunch and dinner but make sure you have reservations to skip the line.
Sumac?
I concur with this recommendation... delicious!!! I also mix in some plain yogurt and basil/mint/green onions in place of the mango. You can truly never use enough sumac. I also use it with salt, pepper, and lemon juice on diced tomatoes and cucumbers as a salad or relish for kabob wraps.
Sumac?
Make sure to check that the sumac you are getting is not mixed with salt. Some prepackaged sumac is sold mixed with salt as a seasoning "bonus". This is good for table sumac during meals but may not be suitable for your recipe.
looking for canele or canelle in LA
Euro Pane's are delicious... only available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays... get there before noon or they're gone.
Canele in Atwater on Glendale Blvd also serves them.
