Where to eat on Las Ramblas?

I totally agree. there are couple of really nice small places on Boqueria, but otherwise - tourist traps. Just walk away from La Rambla, into the Old city and you'll have hundreds og reat opportunities. Try those Tapa places that are crowded and where people eat without sitting - best places (imho)!

El Barrio?

Hey there,
did anybody have luck to try out El Barrio? I had two attempts to have lunch there, and both of them failed: first time because the waiter didn't really feel like serving me (and it wasn't personal, since there were couple of other people sitting and waiting with no luck), and second time they didn't have half of the food that was on the menu. Any positive experiences? Should i try again?
thanks!

I used the shell from Metro. It was ok.

Where can I buy Pimientos de Padron (spainish peppers) in Toronto?

Try Kensington Market - grocery stores on Augusta.

Where to in Brooklyn?

Well, that's not coming as a surprise:-) I'm coming from Toronto, and I'm pretty flexible with travelling around big cities. I just don't want to loose opportunities by going down to the specific area.
Thank you very much for your recommendation:-)

Where to in Brooklyn?

Thank you, Bob - I'm actually not looking for places only around the area where I'm going to stay - I'd like to hear about any interesting places in Brooklyn that the locals can recommend. I am willing to travel for the good stuff:-)

Where to in Brooklyn?

Hi, I'm planning to stay 5 days in Brooklyn, Bedford area (Williamsburg) and would highly appreciate suggestions on interesting places in Brooklyn to dine and food-shop (markets, pubs, cafes, resaturants). I'm not into pricy "dress up" restaurants, but rather looking for places that have personality and creative flavour.
thanks in advance!

Caplansky's - You have got to be kidding me!

Everything is so salty, the fries, the meat -
thanks for this post because actually started to think that something is wrong with my taste buds, because most people I know praise the place.

basil

Try Farmer's Market (south side of St. Lawrence Market) - it is opened on Saturdays, and I got purple basil there 2 weeks ago.

Cafe The Belleuve - new Kensington Market spot

My new lunch fav: Cafe The Bellevue, that has just recently opened in the Kensigton Market (61A Bellevue Avenue). Very cool place, with old polaroid cameras and books all around, piano outside (you can open it and play if you feel like it) and Elliott Smith singing quietly in the background. They serve what looks like a usual lunch fare - soups, sandwiches and salads, but everything they do has personality. The weirdest thing on the menu is a sardines/ peanut butter/ cheddar/ bean sprouts sandwich on Rye. Of course I had to try it out and I have to say, and this won't be an exaggeration, this is the Best Sandwich I ever had in my life!
