Anyone else over Guy Fierri?

I don't like anybody who is popular with the masses! I am a chowhounder. First it was Emeril Lagasse, then Rachel Ray, followed by Bobby Flay. All these people were popular until they got to popular with the public. Then Chowhounders turned on them.

faculty candidate Interview dinner choices

They're asking for a job? Maybe they should take you to dinner.

May I vent? (living with a reasonably Chowish person who isn't quite a Chowhound..)

The problem is, there is no such thing as 'San Francisco sour dough' anymore. At least not in san Francisco

Serious Bosch Issue - Design problem?

Maybe your first question should be directed to a Bosch dealer.

Anyone else getting tired of "new" Craft Beer,Gourmet Burgers & 3rd Wave Coffee joints in Bay Area?

JoEllen from Pinhole told me I have to try Andytown coffee in the outer Sunset. Haven't been there yet, but it sounds like a place I would like

Pinhole Coffee (Bernal Heights, San Francisco)

If you expect typical "barista attitude' don't go here. i was almost treated like family, not a customer. The coffee is top notch. I really like how JoEllen is rotating coffees. The Verve Street Level was fantastic as a Cap and as a straight shot.

Even though it is a bit out of the way for me, I found myself going there three times in the last week and a half.

All things considered, this may be my favorite coffee joint I've ever gone to in San Francisco.

Pizza delivery charge

If you got into an accident delivering Pizza you would have a heck of a time explaining to your insurance co how you were using your privately insured car for commercial purposes. I should have read the posts directly below me.

Turkey Done Temp white vs dark meat?

A trick learned on the naked whiz BBQ site is to put ice packs on the breasts (of the turkey LOL) 20 minutes before you put the bird in the oven. insures even cooking all the way to the end.

La Capra Coffee -- is the 4th Wave upon us? [San Francisco]

What was coined as "third wave" involved more than just how the bean was being roasted.

La Capra Coffee -- is the 4th Wave upon us? [San Francisco]

Nothing new about coffee beans roasted to what's termed 'italian roast". As for 'third wave' the only people who use that term now are the ones who really don't understand what it was in the first place.

Wrecking Ball Coffee (Cow Hollow, San Francisco)

That's weird about the temperature of the espresso. Most espresso blends are brewed between 198*-202*. I can't see how it could have been to hot. Did you say anything?

The best San Francisco sourdough?

I know that all the Lunardis carry Raymonds. Maybe I overstated how many stores it is available. I'm not sure of stores in the city.

Does anyone know what happened to a shop (that made chocolates and flourless cakes w/ incredible butter cream), which was called "Cocolat," or something similar to that?

Also on Steiner in the Marina.

South San Fran Dinner Reccs

If Asian is to your liking, San Bruno, and Millbrae is even closer than San Mateo. And rush hour would mean nothing as you don't even have to hit the freeway.

What are your thoughts on the city's coffee offerings?

I always stop when the pull starts turning blonde.

Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg donates $85,000 to support Berkeley’s proposed soda tax

Speaking of doughnuts, They may be an endangered species in good old San Francisco. After all, not much nutritional about those little babies. Maybe full service bakeries may be in the cross hairs in the future.

That's all well and good, but just in case, lets raise taxes.. The San Francisco treat.

Where do you come up with .01c? You do know the measure calls for a .02c tax. But hell! That's on;y a silly penny.

Strawman? Let me spell it out to you. That store didn't lose 50% of their revenue because of lost alcohol sales. The customers who may have wanted to buy a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer shopped elsewhere to buy all their groceries. If a twelve pack of soda costs three dollars more in the city than out side the city limits people will do their shopping where they can save money.

As for this being a 'modest tax increase'. 2.88 on a twelve pack is not what I would call modest.

I guess the grocery stores in SF will be very happy to see their customers shop out of town.

Don't tell me it won't happen, because I saw a major chain store on the peninsula lose 50% of their revenue when they had their liquor license suspended for 45 days.

I wonder how much the "it just wasn't wasn't the wow experience" was because you disregarded all the advise you were given, and over did it before your dinner.

I can't wait for the luxury tax for restaurants. After all, no one has to eat out. Luckily the rest of the country isn't so quick to vote themselves more taxes. But we are so smug. we don't even realize we're screwing ourselves.

Food mythbusters . What's your belief or not ?

The 8 glasses of water a day is the ultimate myth. That figure was originally meant to include the food you eat, which has a large water content. If your pee is yellow , drink more water. If it's clear you've had enough.
