Anyone know if Mai's Vietnamese closed??

That was our thought too pepper ... but, we also wondered if rents were being jacked up because of a few successes nearby. Seemed too soon for that, but you never know.

Anyone know if Mai's Vietnamese closed??

We drove by this weekend (granted, on Sunday when it would normally be closed) and saw a "for rent" sign in the parking lot. No answer when I tried to call just now! Oh no!

Urbano Cafe questions

1. It did last summer, but I've heard its much improved.
2. Cas or dressy is totally fine
3. Not at all!
4. Always honor RSVPs, but like everywhere else, sometimes have snafus. Of all the times I've gone (gosh - probably over 30), we've only waited for more than a few minutes once.
5. Reccs? Eek. Everything. The wrapped fig appetizer, the pear and cheese side dish, mac and cheese side, gouda grits side, scallop dish .. almost anything on the blackboard special. I've had very few meals I didn't love at Urbano and, like I said, we've been a lot.

TOP 5 Can't miss restaurants in Dallas

I'd consider: French Room, Mansion, Hibiscus, Bijoux, Charlie Palmer, Stephan Pyles, and Fearing's.

If I had to pick of those .. I'd probably nix Hibiscus and Fearings.. although Bijoux is the furthest from you (15 min drive from downtown) if that makes any differenece.

All the suggestions here are good, but for upscale: Urbano and Farnatchi (although less upscale).

DFW - Anyone been to Aurora for Rest. Week yet?

I'm curious if they're really sticking to the menu they have posted on their website (and on DMN) .. if so, I might cancel my reservation b/c the menu of the group probably won't be happy with the options :(

Thanks!

Please PLEASE PLEASE report back once you go! I'm dying to know -- and we have a picky eater in our crowd, so I need to be sure they will be satisfied :)

Lola versus Bijoux

I love both, but Bijoux is more of an "experience" than the dining room at Lola. However, we've never done the tasting room at Lola, so I cannot compare to that. I would, however, be tempted to eat at Lola before it closes.

[DFW] Restaurant Week 2009

List is up! We're headed to: Bijoux, Fearings, Abacus, Stephan Pyles, Craft, York Street, and Aurora .. and hoping Abacus extends to 3 weeks, so we can move that RSVP later and replace it with Local! Mmm mmm. I do love restaurant week!

Interesting that places like Local, Aurora, and French Room are participating this year - I'm guessing its a good way for them to get people in the door during the economic slump. And, of course, help charity and get some good PR.
