Mr. B's or Pascal Manale

We love BBQ shrimp and have enjoyed it at Pascal Manale's years ago. Now I'm reading about Mr. B's. What do you think?

Forgotten the name of a NOLA bar.

Years ago we were in New Orleans and enjoyed Sazeracs in a bar on a street that was either Royal or ran parallel with it. The place was small with the bar on the right wall. There were narrow doors across the front with windows in them. In cool weather the doors were closed, but during warm weather the doors folded back - accordian like. It was in the middle of the block with a hotel to the right (when facing the bar) on the corner. I don't believe the bar was part of the hotel. Can anyone help me with the name of this place. I'm not sure it is still there, especially after Katrina.

Restaurants near Hyundai plant.

I was just on line to read more about the Capitol Oyster Bar and see that it closed in October. Also checked out the Village Kitchen. It doesn't look too far out of the way.

Lugnut, Thanks for the tips. We will be coming into Montgomery from the Prattville area. I'm very interested in chicken and waffles. I haven't had that before and it sounds yummy. Would the Village Kitchen be out of our way? Thanks for the info on the Capitol Oyster Bar as well. We are all fried shrimp fans. You make Arrirang sound wonderful. Tell us what to order - I might can talk everyone into it.

We will be touring the Hyundai plant near Montgomery next week and would like suggestions for lunch. I've read reviews on Arrirang, but not sure our guys would like that. They are more into burgers and BBQ. Any suggestions? Has anyone tried DJ's Old Post Office?

moving to Sarasota from Charleston, SC

Ansley,
I've been in your shoes. We moved from Charleston here about 5 years ago. This area has wonderful white sandy beaches, beautiful clear water, great temperatures, the fishing is good. But when looking for a top-notch restaurant - you may be out of luck. We were fortunate to be spoiled with so many great places in Charleston. We are foodies and were in the food service business for over 30 years. We go out several times each week and leave remembering we aren't here for the restaurants, but for the location. There are plenty of good places for fried grouper sandwiches and many of them have great views. Sorry we can't recommend a single place that compares with what you are use to. Learn to cook the wonderful fresh seafood available and be content with the many other good points that Sarasota has to offer.
