Farmer's booth on Birchmount Road, Agincourt
I just happened to be searching my last name (Chepack) and came across this post. I don't know if the original poster will ever read this but just in case....My grandfather originally farmed 10 acres on what is now Tam O'Shanter Golf Course. The family originally opened up what we believe was the first farmer's roadside stand selling corn in the late 1940's - this stand was located at Birchmount & Sheppard. Ultimately the family started selling our home grown produce from the roadside at the farm gate. As a family we operated a corn stand on Birchmount (across from Stephen Leacock HS) for over 50 years. After the rest of the Agincourt farm sold my father grew the corn on our farm in Markham and brought in fresh corn and produce for over 30 years - all grown and sold by Chepack family members. We stopped selling our own corn there at least 10 years ago, but it's nice to hear we left such an impact on the community. Thanks.
