Cherry Hill Gourmet market, Sheepshead Bay I live 5 minutes from Cherry Hill and stop in about once a week. I just brought home for dinner the lulu kebab and Turkish rice . The Israeli eggplant salad is very good- pickles are okay but they do have an assortment of other pickled vegetables. My husband likes the pickled cabbage. Very nice selection of fruits and vegetables, cheeses, salami and smoked fish. Also condiments and jams. Baked goods look pretty but I have not been thrilled with them. There is also a good selection of frozen pierogies. ----- Pickle Guys |

We will be visiting the city as part of our cruise and being a chowhound would like recommendations for everything from street food to restaurants. I would truly like to try specialties of the city that I can't get in NYC. |

New Indian Restaurant on Coney Island Avenue I just tried this restaurant with my sister. We shared the Darbgar special dinner for two. I had the chicken Dansak curry and she had Lamb kurma. Both were very good. We really enjoyed our desserts-Rasmali and Gulab Jamon. I would recommend this restaurant and will be back to try different dishes ----- |

GOOD Jewish Bakery in Brooklyn??? I just went to Teenas this morning. They do have corn bread, salt sticks, rye bread, pumpernickel, marble bread, onions rolls and more. I tried the corn and rye breads, the onion rolls and the salt sticks. I think the salt sticks are my favorite. I am no expert but I thought the breads were very good. Is it worth a shlep out to Canarsie? You will have to try it and let me know. ----- |

It really only works with the regular Hellmans. I don't think the Hellman's lite has enough fat . |

I was in Delaware and had them at the hotel everyday. They were thick, not soupy, with lots of butter and salt. I really don't know if there was anything else in there. |

Real Sichuan food in Bay Ridge I like the sliced lamb w. cumin better than the beef. Non spicy dishes that are good are sauteed loofah and the sweet potato or pumpkin cakes. The waitress is so sweet that she brought out a raw loofah for me to see and wrote it down for me in chinese. Great place - my husband loves the dan dan noodles and the ma po tofu! |

Old, traditional bakeries/pastry shops that still exist If you want a really good bakery for Jewish bread and cookies, you can try Teena's in Canarsie. For good Italian bread and pastries you can go to Alliota(sp?) and Morietti(sp?) on avenue N and 45th street. |

Everything is Better Topped with an Egg Try a runny fried egg on top of Kasha, it's really good! |
|

What do you do with the chicken after making stock? I use the soup chicken to make chicken pot pies, chicken enchiladas, chicken salad or chicken croquettes. |

Date syrup from Israel -- suggestions? It is very good in Total Yogurt! |
