Italian: I've narrowed it down to Five...

sgordon - Thank you for the suggestions. I have never been to one of Michael White's restaurants and after hearing all the rave reviews, I really wanted to try one. Thus the three...
I have been to Babbo and had a wonderful meal there. Del Posto is ruled out because my mother had a bad experience there (service related, I heard the food was excellent) I will certainly look into Peasant and Falai. I love hearing about new restaurants to try!

Thank you to everyone for all the great suggestions! I made our reservation for Marea and cannot wait to try the fusilli with red wine braised octopus & bone marrow. Yum! I think I'll try Locanda Verde for lunch or breakfast since I have heard so many good reviews of it. (I know there are bad ones too, but I'll let you know what I think.) Thanks again!

Mother/Daughter Foodie Week... Please review Itinerary :)

Thanks! What "smaller" places or "street food" would you recommend us not missing? And Yerba Buena's menu looks great! Thanks for the rec.

Mother/Daughter Foodie Week... Please review Itinerary :)

Hello, I just received great feedback from my first post on Chow Hound regarding Italian restaurants and would love help reviewing our entire plan for the week!

Background: Annual Mother/Daughter trip to NYC, we're from Miami area, both foodies, looking for excellent food with beautiful atmosphere. We will be in the city for 4 nights (mon - fri) and are centering our trip around dining! (Any $ amount is acceptable)

We are staying at The Peninsula and will be visiting the museums in that area on most days. But we would also like to see the other areas of the city.

Our current schedule:

Mon: Dinner - EMP
Tue: Lunch - ?
Dinner - ?
Wed: Lunch - ?
Dinner - Marea
Thu: Lunch - ?
Dinner - WD-50
Fri: Lunch - ? (Preferably near the Peninsula Hotel as we have a flight to catch)

*I definitely want to keep my reservation at EMP, but I'm flexible on all others. Wednesday night has to be a late dinner (11 pm or later) because of the theater. And I would like to have one of the dinners be at a "trendy/hip" place. There are so many wonderful restaurants in New York to choose from!

Here are some of the restaurants I'm interested in. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! :)

Dinner: Hearth, Aldea, Public, Stanton Social, Grammercy Tavern, SHO, Corton. (Megu, Macao Trading Co. & Kittichai - they look so beautiful! How is the food?)

Lunch: Locanda Verde, Fig & Olive, Convivio, ABC Kitchen, Momofuku (not sure which one?), Dovetail, Blue Hill, Union Square Cafe, The Standard Grill, Prune, Blue Hill, Amazing 66)

Lastly, if anyone has a recommendation for a nice place to have an artisanal cocktail (like Death & Co) before EMP as it is a late reservation, that would be great!
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts! Thank you in advance. :)

I forgot to do this! Unfortunately, only Marea was open that late. Because of this, I changed the night and the reservation time to 10pm and later. Now all are available. Thanks! :)

Italian: I've narrowed it down to Five...

Hello,

This is my first post on Chow Hound, but I've used this site as a guide for years! After much browsing through the different boards, I have narrowed down my list for an Italian dinner to five restaurants.

Background: Annual Mother/Daughter trip to NYC, we're from Miami area, both foodies, looking for excellent Italian food with beautiful atmosphere. We will be in the city for 4 nights (mon - fri) and are centering our trip around dining.

We are looking for after theater dinner around 10pm or so and any price is acceptable.

In no particular order:

Marea
Convivio
Alto
Hearth
Locanda Verde (could also have lunch here)

*Scarpetta is not on the list bc they recently opened one in Miami.

Thank you!
