Maui Food Adventure

Hi All,

Thanks again for the recommendations. I just wanted to take a minute to do a quick recap on the Maui food places that we enjoyed.

My wife and I both love Asian food of all varieties so we made a point out of checking out Star Noodle. We couldn't convince anyone else in the family to go with us and so we were dropped off in Lahaina and made the walk up the hill to the restaurant. The ambience of the restaurant was great. It's well decorated and thoughtful in design and the menu was also well crafted. We had a hard time figuring out what to order because everything looked great. We shared the steamed pork buns (delicious) and ordered a bowl of the hot and sour soup and the ramen, both were fantastic. Our waitress was cheerful and the speciality drinks were delicious. I had a cucumber shochu cocktail.

Sansei's for sushi was our second "food" experience. We had a larger group attend with us, so we ordered a great deal of items off of their sushi menu and were able to try almost all of the speciality rolls along with their traditional rolls. By maui standards the food was reasonably priced and the fish was of great quality. Everyone in the group was awestruck by the panko crusted ahi sushi roll. One of their specialty rolls, it was a bit on the more expensive side, but did taste great.

The last food experience worth noting was breakfast at the Plantation House at Kapalua. We ordered a round of bloody marys and eggs benedict. The food was perfectly cooked, tasted fresh, and the views were excellent. Prices were on the higher side for breakfast but not unwarranted.

We wish we would have had more time to check out Mama's and I'o as they both looked great but we spent a great deal of time out doing activities during the day and found ourselves exhausted in the evenings. Next time I guess.

Thanks again everyone for the tips.

Maui Food Adventure

I'm heading out to Maui for a week with the entire extended family. I love them dearly but am going to need to break away from the pack in order to try out some good food. Where would you recommend I go? I'm up for an adventure and have done a great deal of traveling so i'll eat out of a truck or at a classy joints, as long as the food is good.

We're staying in the Lahaina/kaanapali area.
