Jack's Aunt Rosie's cookies - help?

I know how you feel. I have been wondering about those cookies for YEARS (I even had two for my dessert tonight.) I think your best hope is to find a nice, simple, chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe and to add two tablespoons of vanilla extract or a lot of vanilla bean. If you look close enough at the cookies, you find small black or dark brown specks. I am guessing those specks are either vanilla, coffee grounds, or black pepper. Wish you luck!

Saranac Lake, NY - Good eats?

I hated Eat N' Meat. All of their food was cooked on the same grill with raw meat. Everything looked kind of dirty and the staff did not look like they wanted to be there.

Little Italy is a great little Italian place with the best pizza.

Finally, I love Left Bank Cafe (French). They just opened and are adding one thing to their menu each day. Actually last time I was there, they did not have a menu and the waitress just told you the four things they had, crepes (with a wide selection of some-what sweet fillings, a open-faced ham sandwich with fresh greens, some salmon dish (that they ran out of), and a open-faced goat cheese with tomatoes, onions, and chives with fresh greens. The owner told me I was the first one to order the goat cheese sandwich. It was amazing! They have great views of a little stream. I am sure by the time you are in the area they will have a bigger menu. It is the best food I have had in the Adirondacks. And their ice cream is really good too.
If you are talking about ice cream you have to go to Donnelly's Ice cream. It is the best ice cream in the world. Each day they have a special flavor twisted with vanilla ice cream. You cannot get any other flavor but trust me, you will love it.

Little Italy is a great little Italian place with the best pizza. If you care about animal rennet in cheese, we asked and their cheese is vegetarian.

Any Vegan Ice Cream Places??

Thanks! I'll try Lula's Apothecary! I will think about going to Stogo but I am not in that neighborhood that often so I might not get a chance to go to both. I have not been to Pure Food and Wine but I might go...
Still looking for places. Anything on the West side?

I forgot about Mozzarelli’s Pizza found at Nussbaum & Wu at Broadway and 113th street and Mozzarelli’s actual location at 38 East 23rd Street (near Park.)

Looking for a classic Italian restaurant

These are not near grand central but Patsy's and Celeste are great. Patsy's is more known for its pizza than other Italian food. I know for a fact that their cheese does not have rennet. Patsy's is on Columbus and 74th street. Celeste is my favorite place to go to. They have all types of Italian food. The owner travels to Italy once a month and gets new ideas for his restaurant. I love their pizza and their Gnocchi. Their gelato is also amazing. They are on Amsterdam between 84th and 85th street. Just note that they open up at 5 and are filled up by 6.

Breakfast, Lunch &/or Dinner Upper West Side

I love Celeste between 84th and 85th on Amsterdam. They have Italian food. Their cheeses are amazing. I highly recommend their pizzas or their gnocchi. Though I have not ordered it, I have heard that they have a great selection of wine.
You may also want to try Patsy's on 74th and Columbus. They specialize in pizza.

Vegetarian Restraunts on the Upper West Side?

Thanks, I just went to Mana, their Pumpkin Ravioli was great! I loved the beet sauce. The dessert was weird though. It was a Japanese almond mouse with some sort of bean in it. The bean part was a little too grainy. I think next time I will go for the good old chocolate cake.

Upper West Side vegan?

Someone just recommended Mana to me. They are Japanese vegan so they have fish but everything else is vegan. Not all of their food is Japanese though. I have not gone there yet so I have no opinion (though I might go today.)

Vegetarian Restraunts on the Upper West Side?

I would like strictly vegetarian but it is not necessary. I have been to Josie's. I love their spicy black bean dumplings!

Vegetarian Restraunts on the Upper West Side?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good vegetarian restaurants on the Upper West Side. I am hearing all about vegetarian restaurants on the East Side and in the Village but I rarely hear about any others. Also if anyone knows of any rennet-free pizza restaurants on the Upper West side (other than Patsy's which I just ate for dinner tonight) it would be great to hear about. Thanks!

Best Pizza Margherita

Celeste on Amsterdam between 84th and 85th (http://www.yelp.com/biz/celeste-resta...) has AMAZING pizza. The owner told us that he goes to Italy every month to get new ideas. And if you are there, you have to try their homeade gelato made by the owners cousin. It is cash only though. I also love Pasty's Pizza on Columbus and 84th street. Not as good as Celeste though.

Rennetless pizza in NYC?

Thanks for the link! Because it's so hard to find pizza without rennet, I just buy the frozen pizza and make my own pizza. Kashi, Fresh Direct and Tombstone are my favorite brands. Fresh Direct and Whole Foods also has pizza dough that you can defrost and make your own pizza where you can buy your own rennetless cheese.
