Suggestions for an apple picking & winery day trip in SW Michigan

Cranes orchard is great, and Fenn Valley is pretty good. I'd hit those and then drive the 3 miles to Saugatuck for a nice lunch or dinner, tons of options and neat shops there.

Whole Foods deceptive pricing?

I almost got caught by this today at our Whole Foods. I thought maybe to try some good looking salmon pieces in a marinade, and noticed the $8.99 but almost didn't catch the small print that said "per piece", when EVERYTHING else in the case is per lb. Seriously, $18/lb for salmon? Right next to it was macadamia crusted mahi mahi for $13.99, which will be dinner.

Medieval Times

C'mon, the food is fine, and definitely edible. I've been there a coupld of times, and the oven roasted cornish hens, soup, etc while a little bland were better than expected.

Western 'Burbs (Naperville Area): Any Good Bakeries?

Right next door in Lisle is the Upper Crust Bakery, located in the downtown by the tracks. Top notch stuff, not just cupcakes and breakfast stuff. Highly recommended, and close by.

New Trader Joe's yea/nay thread

Tried the frozen haddock filets. Yuck. Would rather have Gortons.

New and good Mediterranean Restaurant in Naperville

This is great news - we can really use a good Mediterranian restaurant in Naperville.

Moe's Southwest...how the heck did this place become a chain?

Moes lasted less than 6 months in Naperville. Bland, and overpriced.

Allgauer's Northbrook or Lisle....which to choose?

We recently went to the Sunday brunch at the Lisle Allgauer's and were very impressed. For a regular brunch, the selection was mind-boggling. Seriously, at least 70 items, and everything we tried was good. Not sure what else they do for Easter, but if you are a seafood fan, for the regular Sunday brunch, there were at least 5 different shrimp dishes, a full raw bar, scallop dishes, a few different kinds of fish.

We will be going back.

Moe's - is it just me?

Maybe that's why the one in Naperville closed already, after being open only a few months!

Restaurant for sweetbreads

They have them at many of the restaurants in Greektown, cooked a variety of ways. I remember some fantastic sauteed ones at the Parthenon.

Absolute best burger in Chicago?

Whoa, which Boston Blackies did you have such bad experiences at? The one in Naperville makes the best burger anywhere close to us, and is packed all the time - - with a lot of competition nearby. Have been there at least 8 times, with great burgers every time. Sure, fries are extra but the burger is only $6.99.

After Theater Dinner

We had a fantastic meal at Petterinos before seeing Wicked a few weeks ago. You wouldn't go wrong with any of those listed by nsxtasy.

Wendy's Double Stack 99 cents..Terrific !

For those that haven't noticed, they made it much smaller a few months ago. It's almost a joke now - - 2 won't even fill you up.

The McD's double cheeseburger is huge in comparison.

Restaurant in Chicago

Sorry, have to disagree on Petterino's. Had a wonderful meal last night before seeing Wicked. All dishes our party of 4 had were great. Service was great, and food was even better.

Red Robin Burgers

What's the difference, when they only allow Medium, not Medium-rare, and they are all grey in the middle no matter what you say? I haven't had a properly cooked burger at Red Robin in a couple of years. And, the price has gone up $2 since then. $9.49 for a so-so cheeseburger?

Wendy's Breakfasts

It's here in the western burbs. I tried a sandwich today, and it was suprisingly very good. Much better than the McD's offerings.

McRib anyone?

You are on the wrong website if you are serious. The first and last grisly McRib I had was about 10 years ago.

Ted's Montana Grill.....pass the salt

In Chicago, I paid $12 for an overcooked Buffalo burger, and had awful service in a half empty restaurant. Will never go back.

Coldstone Creamery

Re-read the other 90 posts. It's extremely overpriced and tastes just OK at best. A joke compared to Oberweis (in the Chicago area).

Taste Of (Regular) Coca Cola Manufactured In Mexico

The stuff is awesome. The flavor reminds me of how Coke tasted 20 years ago, with a nice bite to it.

Is This Chicken Still OK?

There is no food safety benefit to "free range" or organic meat. It is purely marketing.

Yum Brands...Changing their menus?

I can't tell a difference at all since they switched. I noticed when McDonalds changed over their fries, but the KFC tastes as good as always to me.

Prepackaged Mac n Cheese

This is the only frozen packaged thing I buy, and I still find Stouffers is the best.

poppa murphys pizza?? good concept??

Yeah, but those taste better than PM.

Rescuing a Smithfield ham

There's really no way to get around the salt part. It is going to be salty, that's one of the characteristics (and flavor points) of a Smithfield/aged ham.

Superbowl, what did ya make? Winners Vs. Losers

The Buffalo Chicken Dip, posted a few times, was a really big winner.

Caputo's on Harlem v. Fox & Obel's Italian

Caputos is the place for stocking up on deli and import items, even their fresh seafood is great. Monkfish for $7 a pound!

I'll still go to Whole Foods and F&O for certain items I can't find elsewhere, and get raped. But, I'm finding less and less I need there.

Bonnie's Buffalo Chicken Dip

I think they cook it ahead of time, shred, then put in the crock pot with other ingredients.

Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day - Review

I'm not a baker, but after reading about this in the Chicago Trib, I had to try it. We've had fresh bread for two weeks straight. This is awesome!

Making pizza at home

You can slide the dough, on the parchment, right onto the heated stone and cook it without any burning? That's awesome.
