Place to eat before Philly Game
Tony Luke's has opened a sports bar across the street. I've never had to wait, even when the original place is jammed.
Faschnaut Day in the Philly area
I think Street Road is still open. County Line Road closed.
Carrott Cake
Does anybody have any suggestions for carrot cake? I can get to pretty much anywhere in the city or near suburbs.
The Ultimate Philly Buffalo Wing String
Try McGillin's at 1310 Drury St. in Center City. Drury St. is in between Sansom St. and Chestnut St.. For those looking for other types of bar food they serve great sheppard's pie and meatloaf, too.
Philly: A week in town + food near the Wachovia Center?
Since you've never been to Philly, you'll have to try a cheesesteak. Talk Of The Town,on Broad Street a few blocks north of the Wachovia Center, has a very underrated cheesesteak. It is very small with limited parking, though.
Butcher Recommendations in NE Philly Area?
Do you know if they still carry homemade calves liverwurst in natural casing? It used to be on a par with Reiker,s and Illg's
Confection Perfection in Bucks County?
We have gotten several cakes from there. I have never seen a cake sitting in the case. I believe they only bake to order, as far as cakes are concerned. We've been particularly happy with the half chocolate and half vanilla layer cake. They make a tremendous strawberry short cake. It's one of a dwindling number of places that does not make a sickeningly sweet icing.
seeking new restaurants in Bucks County area
Mamma D's is definitely in Bucks County. We also really enjoy eating there. It is an Italian restaurant with consistently reasonably priced food. The chef visits the tables and chats everyone up, making for a warm and pleasant experience.
Roast Pork Sandwiches in Philly
Are you recommending the place just south of Washington Ave.; or the one just south of Christian St? Thanks.
Philadelphia Specialty Food Shops Needed
If you're going to Dad's, try Potitos's Bakery, right across the street. They have tremendous layer cakes and underrated cannolis.
Bucks/Mont. County Specialty Shops/Stores/Restaurants
Actually, depending on where y the OP lives he/she might be closer to Rieker's than Illg's.
You can't go wrong with the calves liverwurst in natural casing at either establishment, though.
Best Burger in Bucks County?
Try Steve's on Rt.1, south of the Oxford Valley Mall for cheesesteaks. It is the third outpost of Steve's Prince of Steaks in the Northeast.
Quintessential Philly (not cheesesteak)
I believe that Tony Luke's has recently added Sunday hours. Their roast pork and cheesesteaks are both excellent.
Date Night in Lower Bucks - Please Help Us Figure Out Where To Go!
ViVa! has closed.
Nick's Cafe and Shank & Evenlyn's- Report
Are you referring to Nick's at 20th and Jackson? Their roast beef is unbelievable.
Thanks for reminding me about Shank's. I had forgotten all about it. I haven't been there in years. My favorite menu item was the homemade chicken cutlet.
Buying Fresh Seafood in Montco
Hey, Bucksguy,
How does Assi compare to Heller's in Warrington? I've always been impressed by the quality of their stock.
Philly - Great food; casual dress
Try Criniti's at Broad & Shunk or Pesto which is a little further north on Broad St.
Where is Ricks in Reading Market
Try Sonny's next door to Campo's at 216 Market St. IMO their sandwich is much better than Campo's.
Moulard Duck in/near Southern Chester County...?
Sorry about that. I've seen them at the Wegman's in Warrington. The will special order items.I don't know how long it takes.
Moulard Duck in/near Southern Chester County...?
Wegman's carries them. I believe there is one in Downingtown.
USDA Prime Meats
Harry Ochs in the Reading Terminal market. Very reasonably priced for prime meat.
Suckling PIg
Thanks. I'll let you know how it turns out.Even though, I am technologically challenged I'll see what I can do about posting pictures.
Suckling PIg
Thanks. Actually, the recipe is from Jose Garces. While I don't think I'll be able to match the incredible roast pig from Amada ,I thought it would be fun to try it myself.
I'm sure I'll really butcher the carving(no pun intended)
Butchers in the E. Montco
There is another authentic German butcher, Reikers, on Oxford Ave., a few doors south of Rhawn St. in Fox Chase. I His calves liverwurst in natural casing is the best I've ever had. He also has tremendous snapper soup and all kinds of wursts made fresh on the premises.
The shop has been there forever and is still run by the original German owner and his son and daughter.
His prices are also very reasonable
Suckling PIg
Does anyone know where I can buy a fresh suckling pig in the Philadelphia area? I work in Center City, so I can pretty much get anywhere. Thanks.
Best Philly Steakhouse
The Prime Rib Does have three locations, all owned by the same people. So, you don't have franchises with different owners. To me, that is slightly different than the typical chain where the quality can vary because of the different owners.
That being said, The Prime Rib is my favorite steakhouse in town. It is a nice relaxing old style dining experience.
Their potato skins are outstanding as is the vanilla sundae.
