Staying at Ceasar's Palace, playing while hubby works, what to eat?

rao's serves a decent pizza at lunchtime. how about trying Brenner's in the forum shops? more details on what you're looking for might help the cause.

First Food and Bar for group dinner?

been to first several times - it's my fav late nite spot on the Strip. I don' t recall seeing a private room there but for 50 people they might be receptive to giving you the bar /lounge area.

Are you willing to go beyond the Strip ?

also, given the elvis theme have you considered entertainment ? i've seen this guy several times - i'm no elvis expert but i liked his show...http://www.bigelvis.biz/

Bachi Burger

I've eaten at Bachi 6 times now, twice over the last week - i've seen significant improvement in the service. the cute-sy hispanic chick is still clueless - she keeps wanting to take the plates before you finish, but the rest of the staff is getting it done. I still think they need a dedicated host/service manager but over all, i'm a fan !

Las Vegas Chicken Wings

try anthony's pizzeria in townsquare - coal fired chicken wings with grilled onions and garlic bread - tried them twice . Strange combo but it works for me - you might get some charring on the wings but i think it adds to the flavor and the experience

Bachi Burger

Stopped by tonight for dinner - definitely need to improve on the service, but the food ? It's a winner !! Can someone tell me why they opted for Windmill ?!?

BYOW - does it exist in Vegas??

I guess it's time for the semi-annual rant about wine corkage policies.

Crazy concept - if you don't care for the restaurant policy - DON'T EAT THERE !

3 -5 times retail is unfair ? MAybe it is , maybe it isn't . What is the food mark-up ? The overhead at these places is huge - rent, labor, utilities, taxes, licensing, etc, not too mention the occasional bottle that might go bad and lord only knows how many bottles end up in the hadnes of employees . Is it against the law for a biz to make $$$ ?!?!

that being said, I follow the call to confirm, i bring nice bottles whether or not on their list and i always ask the sommelier to taste for me and i ask to offer a glass to the chef. depending on the size of the party i will try to buy at least one bottle from their list.

Best pizza in Vegas!!!

a few ?? my guess is 15 .

Also, Grimaldi's is open in the Summerlin area ( on rampart ) - but i've yet to try.

my last pizza was at Rao's - decent. no surprise you have to pay a premium ( $14-18 ) and they only serve at lunch. i'll try to find some pics to post

Casual Dress, Family Friendly Restaurants on the Strip?

since you have cars , suggest you drive a few miles south from your location to town square - you have numerous restaurant choices including italian, pizza, american, etc

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

yes - he's my 2nd fav in town - my office is about 1/2 mile away - he's a character and the donuts are decent.

Vegas Return

i didn't add anything to the taco - not sure if it was due to the time of day ( 7 pm vs. my day time visit ) but felt a lil shorted on the meat

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

i gotta take issue - the apple fritter at Ronalds can compete with the so cal donut spots.

Don't get me wrong, i'm a donut man fan ( lived about 3 miles away )
Loved primo's on the westside ( buttermilk and the cinnamon rolls )
Bob's @ farmer's mkt
Stan's in Westwood
Randy's near LAX

etc

Are you focused on the westide vs. Eastside ?

Vegas Return

the super/supreme is two corn tortillas - i'll post a pic this week - something about the pineapple with the sour cream - it just works - and it's one of those pleasures that you make a mess and yet couldn't care less - it really is a strange location - you don't see the darned place and wouldn't believe it's there given the neon lights of taco mexico in front

Vegas Return

i'm with Dave on Los Antojos - it's one fo the closest mom/pop mexican spot to my office - i've beent here 5 times - i want to love the place - but it gets worse with each visit. Molcajetes is little farther down the road but it's worth the drive but i consider it more of a dinner option then lunch.

I'm more of a pork guy then beef so give me some al pastor at Los parados on Sahara - go large with the super taco - it's about $2.50 - i've been holding off for warmer weather before i try another so i can wolf it down in 100 degree heat with a cerveza or two - the perfect recipe for a sandy beach mirage !

Down Town Vegas dining...

check to see if El Cortez is having stone crabs ( usually on friday ) cost about $28 for a pound with fries and cole slaw and an average bread basket. or get their prime rib or another fav of mine there - wall eye ! good stuff.

Definitely consider Firefly. Golden Nugget - Chart house was decent - cool looking place, too. They have a nice 1/2 price appetizer happy hour; Firelfy's happy hour is 1/2 price drink specials including the sangria ( go for the pitcher ! )

grind burgers, lv (tropicana ave)

i've been there 3 times - it's the kind of place you want to like, but it's subpar food.

Cana Latin Kitchen & Bar, Town Square, Las Vegas, NV

the ceviches definitely "modernized" - thought the two i had were more like sashimi then ceviche. The pisco sour was excellent , yet the sangria , hmmm - well, again, i guess more of a modern take and they didn't have a red sangria. Not sure if this is standard or they simply ran out. The dates stole the show . This will be my regular stop ,post - movie, though i think i need to give Anthony's Coal Fired Pizzeria a 2nd chance especially since i liked the chicken wings. of course, if i have a sweet tooth then yogurtland gets the nod

Italian in Vegas

I'm a fan of Rao's - luv da meatballs !!

never took to Valentino's, haven't been to B&B in over a year ( too many damn places to go too ! )

Been to Enoteca twice in the last year - i like the place and decent people watching . Went on restaurant.com coupons - not sure if they still have them.

Happy Eating !

Vegas help required: Can't remember name of Restaurant

it's either nora's or ferraro's. ferraro's has a more formal look to it so i'm guessing Nora's, too.

happy eating !

Vegas—coolest food shops?

I have to give a shout out to the new supermarket in the southwest part of town - glazier's

http://www.glaziersfoodmarketplace.com/

i eat out so much that i probably hit a grocery store only once / month - Glazier's has me wanting to visit more often - the deli is very good; a large s meats and seafood counter yet i've only purchased their homemade sausages - the breakfast sausage with cinnamon works for me ! I've only walked 1/2 the store. hope it's a success !

Trip Suggestions? (Las Vegas)

Missmoo - if you're trying to keep the taxi costs down you may want to re-think Hash house a go go - not as far as rosemary's but close. My guess from Four Seasons - at least $40 round trip. If you do go, i doubt you'll need snacks at the Verandah in the afternoon. Trying to think of a brunch alternative - how about Bouchon ? Mon ami gabi ?

In Vegas for a layover. Have two hours. Ideas for a dive/watering hole serving good food.

since your on a red eye - don't worry about the time it takes to get thru security - unless it's a sunday night flight - the classics ?

pieros, golden steer already mentioned - personally, i think piero's is waay overpriced for what you get .

casa di amore, batistas - both average italian places

pamplemousse - old school french - i like the place but it can be hit/miss

panevino - close to airport - decent, but also a little pricey.

bootlegger bistro - has an old school feel to it but relatively new.

Happy eating !
