Orange County - Sushi & Japanese
I know there have been posts on this topic in the past, but most of the reviews ssem to be from 2008...
I'll be staying in the Huntington Beach area. Can someone please recommend restaurants in Orange County for sushi, omakase, and traditional Japanese fare?
I have 4 nights to explore so I want to make the most of it. It doesn't have to be fancy or trendy. I just want authentic and amazing food!
Poutine in Chicago?
I wonder if a place that just sells fries and poutine (i.e. something like New York Fries in Canada) would do well in Chicago. A lot of people in Canada eat poutine/fries as a meal at lunch. It's also a favourite late-night/after-drinking food. But maybe people in Chicago don't see fries the same...
Authentic Thai in Chicago
Thanks for the advice! I'll try some of those dishes next time. I saw your translated Thai menu at Spoon Thai. Did you offer to do the translations for the restaurants or did they search you out? Is your career in the food industry? Just curious... Someone should also translate the menus at the Chinese restaurants...
Authentic Thai in Chicago
Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed Spoon Thai and Hae Woon Dae. I really liked the thin and Sour tamarind-flavoured curry with mudfish at Spoon Thai. It nearly burned a hole through my stomach! Had the BBQ at Hae Woon Dae. So much food! Loved the spicy octopus.
Fruit and Vegetable Market
Can someone recommend a place in the Chicago downtown or near North area where I can get a large variety of really fresh frutis and vegetables? I've been to Treasure Island, Jewel, Dominics, and Stanley's... Thanks!
Sushi and Seafood in Vancouver
Thanks for the tip! I had a great time in Vancouver and LOVED Octopus Garden. Went there twice! The lobster on vacation roll was amazing. I also loved the atmosphere - a lot of regulars.
Best Middles Eastern Restaurants In E. Lakeview
I like Pars Cove. I love their baba ganoush. They don't put excessive amounts of lemon juice in their baba ganoush and hummous like a lot of places do. I also like Cousin's.
Deep Dish Pizza (no chains)
I like Palermo's pizza. If you're not on the Southside, Red Ivy (up by Wrigley Field) also sells Palermo's pizza. They have the best sauce. It's slightly sweet. The crust is well cooked.

Sushi and Seafood in Vancouver
I definitely want "Japanese" sushi. I hate those super-sized rolls stuffed with more rice than fish. I will try Okada and Octopus Garden. Do you think Tojo's is worth visiting? I would like Omakase one night. Would you recommend Okada or Octopus Garden for their omakase? Also - I was looking at Hapa and Guu for izakaya. What do you think?
Authentic Thai in Chicago
I'm also fairly new to Chicago. I don't suppose you could recommend some Korean places too?
Authentic Thai in Chicago
I'm looking for an authentic Thai restaurant in the Chicago city area. Duck Walk and Thai Classic doesn't count... Any suggestions? Thanks!
Sushi and Seafood in Vancouver
I'm going to be in Vancouver for 5 days next week and plan to spend a lot of that time stuffing my face.
Can you recommend some sushi and seafood restaurants (really want a yummy dungeness crab)? Also, some Chinese and Japanese restaurants? I'm going to be by myself so not really interested in dim sum. Just some good authentic local places. Doesn't need to be trendy. Interested in the food, not the decor. Thanks!!
