Ancona - 40+ years in Valley Stream

last time i was there i found the help had zero interest in serving the customer and the pizza was ordinary. i think they need to revisit what made them special years ago and reinvent/market it.

Dinner on the South Shore - Nassau

Try Chadwicks in RVC, you will not be disappointed. Great decor, menu and service. i was pleasantly surprised.

Any suggestions on the South Shore of Long Island, Upscale.

Jimmy Hayes Steakhouse in Island Park is always a nice night out.

Skin on boneless whole pork belly - Long Island

v&t in hempstead has just what you need.

One night in Philly, best non-Italian restaurant

What would you do to fix the Food Network?

For me, the downhill of the Food Network was when they decided to show cooking contests constantly all day and not cooking shows. Not sure what happened.
However I am very happy with The Cooking Channel, but i for the life of me can not understand why it is not broadcast in HD. The only thing i watch on FN now is DDD. Thank god for DDD.

San Diego Hound in Philly for Three Days

Nice meals, i can offer 1. I would try to make a reservation for Amada, owned by iron chef Jose Garces. The small plates menu should fall within your price range and i believe you will be very satisfied. Other than that, try to pick up a Roast Pork/Broccoli rabe at DiNIcs in the Reading Terminal market!!!!

URGENT!! Need help as I am Cooking meal for a girl, I'm 17, please help

There are quite a lot of advanced recipes in this thread for a 17 year old novice cook!. Go with the shrimp scampi and serve it on top of angel hair pasta with garlic and oil sauce. It is easy, basic, and your girl will be very impressed. You can easily cook the scampi in one dish in the oven quickly.

What to freeze homemade broth in?

I do prefer the leftover Chinese soup containers, however when i run short on them, i put the broth in a 2 quart pitcher, put saran wrap over the top and then the top of the pitcher on that..... that goes into the freezer and i will use if for my next soup batch.

Slow cooked pork shoulder not so tender

My solution, as i just had a similar problem. After smoking a 6lb butt on my electric smoker for over 10 hours, it was still tough. However i did know that the connective tissue apparently did not get hot enough to "melt". so, i decided to throw it in my pressure cooker with some beef broth for about 45 minutes, and it was pulled pork heaven. Falling apart, bones pulled right out. Also, the broth after combining with the pork juices was incredible.

Spaghetti Squash-my new fave!

A favorite of mine for a while. Last night..Spaghetti squash, Sausage, Broccoli Rabe and stirred in a bit of pesto. Truly excellent. Most of the ingredients i cooked separately, then i sauteed some garlic, red pepper flakes and added the other ingredients.

Corned Beef in the oven @ 215* for 8 hours....Very Tender

Best Ever using Pressure cooker... 4.5lb Corned beef... 1 hour in pressure cooker. turn off heat, leave on stove while pressure releases. Truly, after years of boiling, braising, etc. there is by far no better way than this easy, quick method. Also another hint i learned from other blogs was to use an electric knife to cut it. I felt like i was at Katz's Deli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Myrtle Beach Vacation recap

Nice post, we just came back as well. One of my favorite places was "HOT STACKS" for breakfast. There are a few on them on the main road. The ultimate breakfast i had all week was the Biscuits with Country fried steak and sausage gravy...Wow,i wish i could find that here up north! We also went to the japanese hibachi place at broadway at the beach. Food was good enough, typical of this type of restaurant, however the temperature in the dining room we extremely hot and uncomfortable. they say all those grills don't allow the place to cool off. I say they need a better A/C system!!!!

For Basic, amazing Southern italian type food i recommend,

1. Dom Deluise's " Eat This, It will make you feel Better"
2. Raos original cookbook.

both enjoyable, great pictures, stories and will have you salivating at every page.

Why Can't We Just Have a Decent Cooking Show on TV??

Does anyone remember David Rosengarten on the show TASTE...he had the element you seem to be looking for....i guess that is why food network canned him.... i found him a bit arrogant, but he did a great job instructing and cooking great foods..

Desperately seeking delicious Wonton Soup - eat-in or takeout

New Wonton Garden works for me. These wontons are nothing at all like typical chinese take out. They are meaty, thin skinned little bundles or awesomeness!
Add in some broth from the eternal broth pot you see simmering in the 2x4 kitchen and a few noodles and your mission will be complete
