I already hated McDonald's...
There are at least two of them along I-70 between Lawrence KS and St. Louis. I don't think these are "official" McD's treats - No grinning clown face or giant "M" stamped on them (I think they were standard Milk Bone's).
I already hated McDonald's...
And when I'm on the road, with the dog, McDonald's is my drive through of choice. A Quarter Pounder for me and a small water for the dog. The suprising thing has been to find out that quite a few of them have free dog biscuits for the dog!
I already hated McDonald's...
I used to work directly across the street from a locally owned, independently operated coffee shop. I got to know the owner, the barista's, the other customers. They knew me (and would let me run a tab!) and I knew them. Yep, I could take that extra 5 minutes at home to grind beans and brew a cup of coffee cheaper, but without the companionship it just wasn't as good.
Top Chef #4
I think there was a similar combination on Hells Kitchen - only with real caviar. And with disastrous results....
Gillian McKeith - BBC's You are What You Eat
And sometimes doesn't the spread remind you of a typical "all you can eat" buffet? It kind of looks good all spread out there - especially the ones that are heavy on the sweets. And anytime she wants to do a "death by chocolate" grave for me, I'm ready!
Small cities' food specialties
How about Owensboro, Kentucky and Burgoo? Not chilli, not barbeque, but in the same family. Sort of.
What's your favorite Thanksgiving food-related TV episode?
When I saw the title of this thread this was what popped into my head. Why isn't somebody re-running this every year? An all time classic.
Alton Brown
I am NOT a good cook and know very little about the "correct" way to prepare food. That being said, what I do know I've learned from Good Eats. I enjoy the background, the science, and the step by step processes. And yes, AB does get silly at times, but the show is always fun. Thanks to him I know how to store hardboiled eggs (not in the shell)! And now I do carefully evaluate each item I'm about to purchase for my kitchen - can I use it for more than one thing? Do I already have something that will work as well, and how often will I use this item?
And Feasting on Asphalt combines travel, motorcyles, and eating lots of high-calorie regional foods. It just doesn't get much better than that.
World’s Best Candy Bars?
While in London/Scotland I absolutely fell in love with Cadbury's giant white chocolate bars. I lived on them for 2 weeks.
For a quick grab here I like 3 Musketeers Dark Chocolate/Mint.
