Thanks for the lead on HON's. All of the noodles I've found in the green grocers so far (3 places in KIts/Dunbar) are too narrow. I'm looking for noodles that are about an inch or so wide.

Where can I buy fresh wide flat rice noodles in Vancouver?

Hi,

I'm looking for a good place to buy wide flat fresh rice noodles (for making pad see ew or chow foon/fun). I've looked in a handful of Asian produce markets, but haven't had any luck so far. I live in Kits, so the closer to there the better, but if it's a matter of going East or to Chinatown that's fine too. Thanks for your help :)

State of the Art Ice Cream in Vancouver?

i agree, there seems to be a dearth of good independent scoop shops in vancouver. what is that about? i'd even take a ben and jerry's in a pinch. does anyone know of any hidden gems or to die for local ice creams (not gelato, not yogurt)? thanks :)

Best seafood restaurant for visiting family in Vancouver - tonight!

Thanks for all the suggestions! We ended up at Rodney's Oyster House, as my family was staying in Yaletown and wanted to go somewhere in the neighborhood. It was busy, so we ended up in the bar. Two of us had the halibut, which was good, but not great. My aunt had a scallop salad that she loves. Wine in tumblers and the loud music was a little much for my relative, but we managed and it was nice that it was so lively.

On a side note, they ended up at the Fish House in Stanley park for lunch and loved it (2 kinds of salmon and scallops). My uncle is a fisher and a salmon lover, so I would take his word for it.

Thanks again for your quick responses :)

Best seafood restaurant for visiting family in Vancouver - tonight!

Hi all,
I am new to the board, so thanks for reading. My aunt and uncle are coming up to Vancouver unexpectedly tonight and want to go for a good seafood dinner. I've lived here for about 8 months, but on a grad student budget, so I haven't explored the restaurant scene too much. Suggestions? We are pretty open in terms of price, but probably not THE most expensive place in town. We will be in downtown Vancouver, but they have a car. Also, I don't think they are interested in Chinese/Japanese seafood, though I know those are good too. Thanks!
