Fort Worth options for a non-meat eater

I will be visiting family soon in Fort Worth and would appreciate recommendations for places that have options for someone who does not eat meat (seafood is ok however). Because everyone else does eat meat, I do not necessarily want only "vegetarian" restaurants although I welcome all suggestions. Thanks so much. I am really looking forward to visiting your state - I live in the Pacific Northwest.

Two meals only in Seattle

We are traveling to Everett from Portland to attend a graduation this weekend and staying downtown Seattle. We will only be able to do two meals - a late dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. Would really appreciate recommendations for options not too far from downtown. We like everything but don't want anything too fancy given our time restrictions. Thanks.

Visiting from Portland Oregon for Two Nights

That's a lot of info! Thanks. We are staying on w. 46th between Broadway and 6th. Will be spending much of one of our two days at MOMA. Also want to explore Central Park, weather permitting. Not sure of our other plans. We have been to the city before and are trying to just have a nice, relaxing time. We may see a show, so non-tourist oriented dinner recommendations in the area would be appreciated.

We have no objections to reservations, at least for dinner and would prefer not to have long waits. We also have no objection to exploring other parts of Manhattan, but would like to have a dining destination in mind because we are not familiar with the city.

We really like all types of food but I think we would really appreciate any type of ethnic food recommendations you have - I love spicy food.

Visiting from Portland Oregon for Two Nights

We are spending a Sunday and Monday night in the city while visiting family in NJ. Looking for recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I know many places are closed on those days. We are staying in the mid-town area and don't want to go to any place too fancy or that has a strict dress code (we are west-coasters after all). Cost is not really a factor, we just prefer places that are not too fussy. We like all types of food but one of us does not eat any meat except fish. Thanks.

Birthday dinner for a 17 year old

Looking for recommendations for a birthday dinner with my 17 year old niece downtown or within walking distance (a long walk is fine) for the 23rd of December. There will be just three of us. Two of us do not eat any meat except fish. Niece is not picky other than the no meat policy. Looking for a place that is fun and not too fancy. Money is not really the issue - we just prefer places that are not too fussy. I am thinking something other than asian because we probably will be eating asian on Christmas eve and/or Christmas.

Also, would appreciate any recommendations for dessert places. Thanks.

Christmas in Seattle

Thanks to everyone for the info. And Sal Vanilla, umbrellas are for wimps. I grew up in Hoquiam, where it really rains.

Christmas in Seattle

We will be spending three nights in Seattle over Christmas. Given the Holiday, I expect we will need to eat at least one breakfast and maybe one lunch in the hotel restaurant. Any recommendations for hotels with good food?

Also, I would appreciate any recommendations for restaurants that may be open on Christmas and Christmas eve. I am thinking this may be our opportunity for some really good Chinese (there is not much of that here in Portland, Oregon) or other asian food.

Is anyone aware of any lists compiling restaurants that are open over the Holiday?

Thanks!

Santa Fe and Taos - 2 Questions

Thanks to everyone for the responses. Price is really not an issue, but we don't like "fancy" places. We prefer casual places and like to patronize restaurants where locals go. As for food styles, we are open to everything. One of us loves meat, and the other eats no meat. We both prefer restaurants that source most of the ingredients locally. We have planned our trip around a visit to the SF Farmers market, if the gives you a feel.

Although I said I didn't want NM or mexican recommendations I would welcome any suggestions. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the options and realize now how people visiting my home town (Portland Oregon) feel!

Santa Fe and Taos - 2 Questions

Have done my research and think I have all the answers I need for New Mexico style food. I have two requests for information:

1. Who does the best breakfast burritos in both towns?

2. Would appreciate recommendations for non-New Mexican and non-Mexican food. My traveling companion may need a break from the spice/heat!

Thanks.

Olympia Farmers Market

I am meeting my mom at the Olympia Farmer's Market for a belated mother's day celebration next Saturday. I would appreciate recommendations for brunch/lunch places in the vicinity, preferably within walking distance. Thanks.

Non-Meat Eater Needs Restaurant Suggestions for Portland

I agree with many of the suggestions above. Also wanted to mention Park Kitchen. They have large and small plates and there are usually several veggie options. Also, in my experience, the kitchen is willing to work with non-meat eaters.

Vermont Recommendations

We will be staying in East Dorset for a few days. I would really appreciate any recommendations in the area. One person in our group does not eat meat. Other than that, we are up for any type of food. We are also planning to drive a little, so the restaurant can be outside of the immediate area. Thanks in advance.

Victoria recommendations

Hello:

We are going on a cruise to Alaska with a stop in Victoria. I would appreciate recommendations for a place to have dinner. I am thinking that after a week of eating on the ship, we might really enjoy something ethnic. We always prefer fresh, seasonal menus. Also, two people in the party will eat fish, but not any other meat. We would prefer something relatively close to where the ships dock, but are willing to take a taxi or public transportation. Thanks.

Oregon Coast-Good Seafood

A couple of weekends ago we went to a new sushi place in Manzanita, which is not far from Cannon Beach. It is called Reinami, I believe, and it was very good.

Recommendation near Kahala Resort on Oahu

We had a great meal at 3660 on the Rise. The service was perfect and the Ahi Katsu appetizer is the stuff that dreams are made of! It appeared that most of the people eating there were locals and we enjoyed eating somewhere "real" after being tourists for a week. We were visiting friends who live on Oahu and thanks to torta basilica we found nice hostess gifts in the form of beer and wine from home (Oregon) at Tamura's. Thanks again.

Recommendation near Kahala Resort on Oahu

Thanks to everyone. I just made reservations at 3660. I will report back after we return. I have one more question: Can anyone tell me if the restaurant is within walking distance of the Kahala Resort? Thanks again.

razor clam recipes

Park Kitchen in Portland regularly has razor clams on the menu as one component in a kind of composed salad. I talked to the chef/owner once and he told me that he poaches the clams very quickly in a court bullion. I think maybe he said 30 seconds, although I have always cooked them about twice that long. You can then cut them into strips. I have made salads with celery or snap peas and a citrus vinaigrette. I think it's important to have something crunchy in the salad.

Best food of the best in Portland

Ken's Pizza is terrific but I want to point out that unless something has changed recently, it is not open for lunch. I would hate for you to show up and be disappointed.

Thanks for the recommendations. I understand that the Kahala is not casual. We are staying there because of its proximity to a friend's house.

Recommendation near Kahala Resort on Oahu

Hello:

We will be spending a night at the Kahala Resort on Oahu (the address is 5000 Kahala Avenue, Honolulu). I would appreciate any information about the onsite restaurant and recommendations for offsite restaurants. We would prefer something relatively casual but with really good, inventive food. Thanks.

Looking for wine gems near Portland, Oregon

Check out The Tasting Room in Carlton. They specialize in up and coming Pinots that can't be tasted at a winery. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was our favorite stop. Penner Ash was also great and the setting is beautiful.

Nice Dinner Recommendation: Portland OR - veg/fish friendly

See if you can get a reservation at Park Kitchen. They have large and small plates. While there is meat on the menu, there are always fish and veggie options. The kitchen has always been cooperative about taking the meat out of a dish if it makes sense.

Your hidden gems in SW PDX?

There is a really good Japanese restaurant in Tigard in the old part of downtown Tigard called Maki. Have you heard about Three Square in Hillsdale? It is also very good. It is comfort food with a somewhat southern influence. They are open seven nights a week now.

Looking for amazing pastry shop/bakery in Oregon

Ken's Bakery in NW Portland on 21st is great (Ken also has a terrific pizza place on the other side of the River in Portland). Pearl Bakery in the Pearl District is also very good.

Recommendations for SF with Kids

I will be visiting SF in a couple of weeks with my two nieces (ages 12 and 13). I am a foodie - my nieces are not. Does anyone have restaurant recommendations that might satisfy everyone? We will be staying in the Union Square area and are seeing Avenue Q at the Orpheum one night. We will not have a car, so need to take public transportation or walk to meals. Thanks.
