Hello Hounds, I'm wondering if you know any Chinese restaurants doing specials for the Chinese New Year. I'm particularly thinking about the rice cakes - nián-gāo. My friend's family eats it dipped in egg batter and pan-fried. Thanks for the tip! |

I've bought them directly from Japanese restaurants in town. I think I've gotten a bunch from Sakura in St. Paul and Origami in Mpls. |

Hello Hounds, I'm looking for a good grown-up bar that makes great solid cocktails. I like the Bradstreet a lot for their inventive stuff, but today, I'd like to forgo home-made bitters and 6 different kinds of ice. I'd just like a clean martini or a well-made Manhattan. Suggestions? |

Where to watch the U.S. Open Men's Final? The rain delay in New York means I have to leave work early to catch Nadal vs. Djokovic. And I need the expert help of you Hounds. Do you have any suggestions for bars in the Twin Cities that might be showing the tennis match? I work in St. Paul and live in Minneapolis. I'm thinking of catching the game either in Downtown St. Paul, Downtown Minneapolis or Uptown Minneapolis. Thank you for your help! |

I work in St. Paul and live in Minneapolis. I can get the best of both worlds! I've only been to WA Frost for a sit-down dinner. I should try their cocktail option, too. Thanks for the suggestion! |

I'm ready to cocktail on this steamy Friday with a good friend. And I'm looking for a moderate sound-leveled, non-fraternity house sort of a bar with solid drink selections. My favorites include Bradstreet, Speakeasy and Vincent for DT Minneapolis and Lucia's and Rinata for Uptown. ----- |

Stuffed Squash Blossoms - LES/East Village? inoteca might have it. I've had it as a special before. I'd call to see if they have it before heading out there and waiting in line for 40 min. |

Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! Due to lack of transportation time, I went to Old Chicago in Uptown the other day for an afternoon game (Brazil - N. Korea). The TVs were great, but not too many people were around to watch the game :-( I think I'll try Nomad and Pancho Villa! ----- |

I think watching some soccer games with a crowd with some beer, wine and nibbles sounds like a wonderful rainy weekend plan. But I'm not accustomed to the sports bar scene in MSP. Any suggestions? |
