Aleta, I am researching still--we leave in 2 wks. Is the chocolate used in Granja Viader a 'may contain' nuts? did you read the labels for the chocolate when you were in there? I don't see an email to contact Granja about that. thanks!

hi! i love CHOWHOUND! we are going to spain this summer and our son is allergic to nuts (tree nuts). Visiting madrid and barcelona. Trying to find out what dishes typically contain nuts (pine nuts, brazil nuts, cashews, almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, etc). THANKS FOR ANY INFO!

we are going to eat french baguettes and cheese (brie?) and at Breizh Cafe all the time. I have called Breizh cafe and they said that they can do it and will do it. we are not going to do any fine dining. we are going to stay in a castle in normandy and i am going to contact them in advance. And then there is always mcdonalds (yuck) and subway (yuck) but at least it is nut free. Top priority.

WIth a nut allergy, the cross contamination issue is ever-present. Didn't know if some kebab vans also sold items containing nuts? I haven't been to england in 20 years (WOW!). Just trying to learn as much as i can before we head out to england! I guess there is always mcdonalds and subway but i don't want to eat those foods there even though i know the ingredients since they are all available online and clearly spell out what does and doesn't contain nuts. thanks!!

i just called Breizh Cafe and the person who answered spoke english and he said it is not a problem to make crepes without nuts. thank you so much

thank you all sooooo much. i have found that Rainforest cafe in london has 'nut free' noted on their menu items that are nut free. Also, Wagamama's has a separate menu as to what is nut free. Now i am looking at McVities Digestives which i just LOVE. I can eat digestives the entire time i am there. and also looking at kebabs! Need to check out the kebab bread and meat!

we are going to london and paris this summer and have a son with a tree nut allergy. PhilD, since you are allergic to tree nuts, you probably really know where to go and not go. We will be travelling around so pubs will be easy to go in and get a pub sandwich (i remember those from 1985 when i was in england!) Any info you can type would be fabulous because i haven't been able to get much information so far despite hours searching on the internet.
