Any special MA or NE foods to look for try out/buy?

on the similar topic brown bread in a can, not sure if super markets outside the NE have it or not, not real special but a treat if you have been somewhere without a big fridge for a while.

It's Strawberry Season Again! Anyone seen the local ones yet?

I've gone to sunshine farm/dairy in Sherborn/natick, and you can grab an ice cream before you leave. Here is a good resource to find one closer to you.

Boston to Cape

B.T's smokehouse the place in Sturbridge is more like a 10 minute detour, but call ahead since they are pretty popular so there may be a wait at peak times, closed on Monday's. They don't have table service and is byob.

Visiting Boston with a toddler

Had lunch at Galleria Umberto today, their posted vacation is 6/29-7/28, since you have kids go early to avoid the lines, and no A/C.

Visiting Boston with a toddler

FYI Galleria Umberto's usually is on vacation in July so you might want to have a back up plan in the NE, and check to see if anyone posts their vacation schedule.

Have a great visit,

Asian Soups w/ Delicious Broth, Even w/o the Solids ?

I haven't been in a while, but seven stars bistro in Rosindale has my favorite hot and sour soup.

Call ahead since they get busy, pretty much dinner take out only wed-sun.

I think that they make each soup to order so might be willing to do special requests.

Oh I like the broth in the sichuan meatball from sichuan gourmet (billerica) very thick soup and not spicy at all, maybe you can get someone to eat the meatballs and vegs that are in it.

My first meal at Island Creek Oyster Bar -- not great

No I am not, but I am sympathetic to those who make a living tending crops.

What was your point? Other than oyster farming is a racket to make money, because of the government subsidize.

Not sure how much of the profit the oyster farmer gets from a place that has $4 dollar oysters, or when a place runs a $1/oyster special since they probably wholesale for about a dollar.

I’m sure that there is no pork left in the 3 trillion dollar budget for agriculture other then oyster farmers.

Like you I do vote with my dollars.

My first meal at Island Creek Oyster Bar -- not great

Sure an easy life where the red tide rolls in or too much rain runoff with dog/human feces will shut down your production. Plus all the other things that target those tasty morsels. Isn't it a business where free market should control the prices?

Ethnic or Interesting in and around Metro Southwest

There is a branch of Sichuan Gourmet in Sharon. The middle eastern groceries/takeout(sabbs?) place on route 1 near ocean state job lot in Norwood. Haven't been in a while but there used to be others on 1a (Byblo's?). Taso's greek food at the airport in Norwood. Byblo's has Belly dancing on Friday's and is probably more of going out place then the others.

Who has great tart raspberry lime rickeys?

I think neither are any more, the supplier stopped making bulk ice cream and it's only available in quarts, and per last year were going to have change their names, but never noticed if they did.

It will always be Brigham's unless they turn that location in to something with out ice cream. As I remember the rickey was as good as they were in the past.
