i am not a Kosher eater but have Kosher relative. The frum tend to prefer David Chiu but I find most of their food gloppy and as a non-Kosher eater I was very impressed with Umami.

Special occasion dinner in Baltimore
We go to Dukem all the time. Absoletely love it but not really a "special occasion" place.

Looking at the Miltons Inn website it looks like it might be a little "old" for us. We are 29. Please let me know if this impression is correct.
Umami in Baltimore (Pikesville)
A group of 8 of us went on Thursday (Christmas Eve). Only one in the group observes kashrut and 2 (myself included) are former kashrut observers. The main reason for going was interest by some in the group for the Revolution Diet menu. Three of our group ordered off that menu and seemed happy with their selections though the person who ordered the Triple Delight off that menu commented that there wasnt so much meat in her order. (She is the observant one in our crowd.) We had 2 orders of wonton soup, 1 chicken corn soup, 1 hot and sour and 1 beff and asapragus. As a non-kosher eater I would come back jsut for the beef and asparagus soup. The chick corn soup was also very well done. I did not try the other soups but they seemed very well received. The remaining 5 of us ordered Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken, Pineapple Curry Chicken, Pad Thai and Cashew Chicken. The Mongolian Beef and Cashew Chicken were the highlights of the night but there were no real complaints. We did not have any sushi among the group. I considered prices reasonable (came out to $21 per person including tip (we did not have any alcohol)) especially for kosher but not significantly more than an equivalent meal would have cost at a traife restaurant. Service was a bit spotty but on the whole was a very enjoyable experience and even as someone who is no longer observant I would eat there over some of the traife offerings in the area.
Special occasion dinner in Baltimore
Tio Pepe is exactly the type of place we are looking for. However we have eaten there twice and are looking for a place we havent been before.
Special occasion dinner in Baltimore
Boyfriend and I have had a stressful month and would like to go out to a nice dinner in early January (likely Saturday 9-Jan). We are looking for an excuse to dress up. No budget but The Charleston is probably too expensive for this. We looked into Volt but they are booked for a long time. We like any types of food and would prefer to try somewhere we haven't been before. Anywhere in Baltimore City or County. Would also consider Howard County or Westminster for somewhere truely special.
Cafe Atlantico Dim Sum brunch
We are going for brunch there for my birthday Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Any menu recommendations? We like everything. Should we do the tasting menu or just order a la carte? Looking at the menu online a lot of the vegetarian selections seem more interesting but I'm open to anything.
Westminster Maryland
more than 15 minutes with lights on 140. probably closer to a half hour.
Glorious Kosher Caterer (Baltimore)
How about Celebration caterer? Their website says they are under Star-K.
Glorious Kosher Caterer (Baltimore)
Anyone know anything at all about them? They are both on the approved list for a venue we are considering. I can call for price info but am looking for recommendation on quality of taste and service. Want food our non-Kosher guests will also be impressed with. I understand if we decide to go dairy then I think it has to be Celebration but are still in the early planning stage so havent decided on menu options.
Cupcakes?
Charm City Cupcakes is completely unrelated to Duff Goldmans Charm City Cakes. (Wow 2 postings on a copcakes thread and I dont even eat sweets)
Where can I find great nachos in Baltimore?
Are they still gonna show the Bills game every Sunday?

Top Chef TV Tour
We went to the one in DC, Carla and Spike were there. Spike made a soft shell crab sandwich and they answered questions (cooking related, show related and personal) while doing the demo. Overall we enjoyed it, but were expecting more than one dish. SO was also disappointed he couldnt get Carla's autograph (They were signing pictures but only allowed 20 people in line and we missed it.)
Anyone else go? Howd it go in other cities? Who was there? What did they make? etc.
Laurel MD Sat Lunch

Ze mean bean & Old Orchard Cafe - Baltimore
Orchard Market Cafe is great!! Food is delicious, service is attentive, BYOB. Downsides are its kinda in an out of the way strip mall and they can get crowded (dont take reservations). I only went to Ze Mean Bean once and didn't love it. Possible I ordered wrong (don't even remember what I ate but it wasnt particularly memorable). Do think it was a lovely space and would likely give it a second chance but i LOVE orchard market.
Dinner near Weinberg Center (Frederick)
Going to see David Sedaris next Saturday at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick (20 W. Patrick St). Were going to be a group of 5 adults in our mid/late 20's. We live in Baltimore and don't know Frederick at all. we are not looking for anything too fancy or expensive. We eat most types of food but one is a vegetarian and one has slightly less adventurous tastes but could probably find something to eat no matter where we end up.
Yays and nays from Trader Joe's, lately [OLD]
why were the chili lime burgers recalled? we kinda like them, i have two boxes in the freezer now
e bars in Baltimore
el patron does have a full bar sorta separate from the restaurant with some happy hour specials so could probably work for you.
What's the deal with Ledo's pizza?

coupon on first date
On our first date my SO (weve together 2 1/2 years now) used a coupon and then we split the rest. We are both adults (mid-20s). I have to say using the coupon was one of the things that endeared me to him, it showed we have the same values and also showed he was comfortable with me. I told my mom about it after and she agreed he was a keeper.
Tipping for tableside entertainment
Went out to dinner at a brewpub last night. We were a table of 4 adults in our late-20's and early 30's. A little while after sitting the restaurant's "official magician" came over and performed some tricks for us at our table. When he was done he told us he accpeted tips. We enjoyed his show and were entertained by him so we scrounged around and gave him a few bucks (basically all of the singles that we had between us). We had no idea what an appropriate tip was (we hadnt even ordered yet so a portion of our food bill wasnt an option nor am i sure if that makes sense). Any ideas what is expected in this case?
Vegetarian at Fridays?
The broccocli cheese soup at Fridays is great. I'm not sure if its 100% vegetarian (i.e. might contain chicken stock in the broth)
