Steakhouses vs. Italian - best of the best

Thank you, bachslunch and treb! I've decided to take my parents to a steakhouse when they come for a visit. Still going back and forth between the menus of A&L, CG, Oak Room, Grill 23 and Flemings though : )

Good call, Taralli. I forgot about Mortons - went to one of their locations in New Jersey which was excellent.

Dinner near Carnegie Hall???

Hello all,

I just bought my parents tickets to a concert on Thursday, May 8th. I'd like to make a reservation for them at a restaurant that is in close walking distance to the hall. I'm looking for Italian, American or French - not Thai or Greek. Any recommendations?

Thanks and all the best!

* not chowhound material but if anyone has any parking recommendations near restaurant/Carnegie Hall, that would be much appreciated as well!

Finger sandwiches in Boston / Boston-north area?

Hello all!

I'm trying to find some great finger sandwiches in the Boston / Boston-north area (I'm in Medford). I'm particularly looking for cucumber sandwiches. I'd appreciate any chowhound tips!

All the best!

Where can I find excellent hors d'oeuvres? (take-out)

Wow! Thank you all SO much! I'm going to check out Baker's Best and Sevan tomorrow... thanks again!

* I picked up these great pre-made pastry cups today in VT (Sable & Rosenfeld) - hopefully I'll find a salad at Baker's Best to fill them with!

Where can I find excellent hors d'oeuvres? (take-out)

Hello all!

I am having a baby shower at my house next weekend and am trying to find exceptional hors d'oeuvres for take-out. I am getting the cake at Rosie's, pastries at Modern in Medford, and dips and crisp breads at La Patisserie in Winchester. Any ideas for other appetizers??? The shower is at 2 in the afternoon so I'm not looking to do lunch, however, would not be opposed to some tossed salads. Also, I would be open to recommendations from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's etc., as I am not very familiar with their products (except I hear Whole Food's cupcakes are phenomenal!). A great quiche recommendation would be great as well!

Thanks!

Need advice on restaurants for baby shower!

Hello,

We are having a baby shower the first weekend in March and are looking for a restaurant in Boston/Somerville/Cambridge and surrounding areas. We are looking for a place that will accomodate about 20-25 people for an afternoon tea brunch that is also reasonably priced.

So far we have looked into Eastern Standard, Mistral, Upstairs on the Square and L'Espalier. Any opinions on these restaurants as well as others would be greatly appreciated. (A few of these looked a bit too extravagant and pricey.)

Thanks and all the best!

Need help with where to get food for a Sunday gathering! Please!

Thank you for your suggestions! Didn't have time to check out Watertown but Bob's is wonderful and also went to La Patisserie on Church Street in Winchester. Guests were raving about the spinach and cheese stuffed croissant, the ham and gruyere stuffed croissant as well as the spreads and crackers (king crab creole, smoked sun-dried tomato and multigrain crisps).. Thanks again!

Need help with where to get food for a Sunday gathering! Please!

Hello all,

I am hosting a last minute bridal shower at my house on Sunday at 12 noon and need to figure out where to go to get food for it. I'm looking for salads (pasta etc.), sandwiches or other finger food, pastries and other baked goods. Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I am looking to go either in Boston or north of (I would be going from Medford).

All the best...

Bachelorette party - restaurant recommendations?

Thank you. The date is set for September 8th, so we haven't had it yet. It's between Tangierino and Cuchi Cuchi right now depending on availability I think!

Bachelorette party - restaurant recommendations?

Hello everyone,

We are planning a bachelorette party and are looking for a fun restaurant with great food as well as a great atmosphere! Will be a small party (under 10) and we are open to various locations and ideas. We have heard about Cuchi Cuchi, Tangierno Casbah Lounge, and Dali but have never been there to know from experience. Any opinions on these places or additional ideas? Thank you!

Kindest Regards.
