Palm Two NYC

We will be dining at Palm Two on 10/1 to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We will be taking Amtrak from N. Westchester for a 5:30 reservation. My husband I are the only 2 of the party of 5 who have never had the pleasure of dining there. I am sure it will be fantastic, but would like some thoughts or recommendations from chowhound participants.

Fore Street: Toddler Friendly?

I would not recommend bringing a toddler to Fore Street. It would be a dangerous situation if your child did not want to stay seated in the high chair, as the wait staff criss-cross carrying large trays. I would suggest DeMillo's as a "child happy" space. You would even be able to walk on the deck outside. Good luck.

Lefteris in Mount Kisco

Both my husband and I love dining at this restaurant. The gyros are the best, great salad, and most importantly service. I agree with the last reviewer that the hostess/owner will always seek the best table for you - and offer for you to wait for the next table of your choice. If noise is a problem, go to Le Chateau. Take out at lunch is quick and easy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Good steakhouse in Westchester?

Willet House is clearly the best. Port Chester location easy to get to and park your car. Not cheap, but worth the excellent meal. Comfortable seating and service. We love Ruths Chris, but Willet House totally exceeds Ruths Chris. Report back, you will not be sorry if you dine at WH.

8/24/10; Friendly Toast, Portsmouth,N.H.: Excellent Lunch in a Popular Funky Place - moved from Greater Boston board

I totally agree. All I could think about was dust, dust, dust. I agree with the review of the waitstaff. I was told that they were closed for a few weeks, 2 years ago, for septic problem issues. We now sit outside at Popovers and still are able to view the long lines on weekends at Friendly Toast. Colby's has great food, but tiny tables, worth the wait.

Where to go in Portland, Maine...Dinner & Breakfast?

Fore Street is an exceptional dining experience. Even eating at the bar is great. I also agree with Becky's -blueberry pancakes and the largest just cooked muffins, you will ever have. Stop at Standard Bakery (in back of Fore Street and next to the Hilton Garden Inn). Duck Fat is also fun. Please report back.

Best Pizza in Westchester (again)

We love Muscoot Restaurants pizza. We order a well done cheese pizza with sausage and sweet red peppers. They are located just off the corner of route 35 and route 100, South Somers (Katonah area) just behind an auto repair center and between King Kone. Disregard the appearance of the building. Their food, besides the pizza, is spectactular.

York Beach, Maine with teens- where to eat?

York Harbor Inn has a casual dining room. Jeans, shorts, are their expected attire. The menu consists of salads, some pizza selections, burgers, pasta dishes, all the way up to more expensive dishes (seafood and steak). My husband and I have dined there many times when we stay in Portsmouth. You could also head to Maine Diner in Wells. Home cooking, extremely reasonable prices, just good plain food. Check their websites for menus. Good luck. Lots of traffic in York Beach in season.

Cheap Eats around Ridgefield CT

I totally agree with Ancient Mariner. Casual dining, also good for families. The best ribs, burgers, sweet potato fries, etc. Somewhat of a 70's decor, but a comfortable dining experience and courteous wait staff. There is an extensive menu to choose from.

5 Nights in Portland, Maine

You may want to re-think the Eastland, I have not been a guest there, but when checking reviews, you may want to upgrade to another venue. Becky's diner on the wharf is great-best huge muffins and blueberry pancakes. Also Miss Portland diner has the most wonderful REAL corn beef hash. Duck Fat is fun, duck confit pannini, cream soda, and great fries with dipping sauces. Maine Diner in Wells, also great, not only for breakfast, but lunches and dinner. Go on-line and check menus for selections and prices. Flo's hot dogs are a Maine tradition, you may want to order at least 2-3 dogs, cheap, either at the trading post in Kitttery or on rte 1. If you choose to go to a special dinner, Fore Street in downtown Portland. One of the best restaurants we have dined at in years - need reservations, if not sit at the bar, have a drink and an appetizer. Any questions, reply back on chowhound. Portland Maine and Portsmouth NH have exceptional dining. Enjoy. We love northern westchester ny, but are planning to retire to Portsmouth in the next 1-2 years.
