Chowhound: How About Working WITH Us Rather Than TO Us?

I am lost with this new format, I come here to relax, read what others think about topics, get new ideas, etc., however, these changes are so (*^%^&$) I think I have to go somewhere else. Are there other sites out there?

Is Garlic Good for You or Bad for You? - Bon Appétit

I am a garlic "taste" lover, however, I just have never noticed any medicinal benefits. I have had pneumonia, gall stones, colds, etc. As far as I am concerned, it enhances food flavors and that's about it.

What to do with old dishes

I use them as water catchers when I water my plants, I have found them better than the plastic stuff you buy at plant nurseries.

Is cooking on propane dirty??

I had to use propane for about a year, my dad set it up for me. When he lit the stove a blue flame was always there. He said that was clean burning, he was an old plumber/handyman who did things right, I know I never had any problems with it.

Changes coming at Olive Garden...

I had lunch there the other day, two baskets of bread sticks, soup came with my lunch then the waiter encouraged me to have more soup and to try the other kind, so I did.
It was very good and needless to say, I took most of my main course home in a doggie bag.

I don't "get" Red Velvet Cake

A couple of years ago, after reading so much about it, I made it from scratch. I used a recipe from the website with high rating reviews. The cake was good but have to say, I didn't get it either. I have never made it or tasted again, but then again, I don't get the tres leches cake either.

Alton Brown is Nasty to Contestants!!!

watching Alton on Beat Bobby Flay, this guy has not aged well. I used to like him, however, he has gotten to be so sarcastic, wonder if it is because of his dramatic weight loss.

Chris Cosentino Deeply Regrets Television Appearances

When I have seen or heard him on television, it seems every other word, he has to swear. I don't think highly of him and I agree, he seems bitter, angry and doesn't like to cook.

Mexico One Plate at a Time

This post was written a while back and these two people are still acting like teenie bopper lovebirds. I do find Bayless & daughter's interactions Creepy especially since she is all grown up. When his wife is on the program, she seems to be the third wheel in this family. He usually sends her off to do some chore in the kitchen while his daughter takes up the partner part.

I have also noticed if his daughter is not around he surrounds himself with a female dinner guest to help him out cooking.

Jaque and his daughter as annoying as she may be to some don't come across a lovebirds, they appear to have a more father/daughter relationship.

Hatch Green Chiles 2014

I remember roasting a 50# bag of chilies, a medium light rain came down and I guess helped smoke them. Those were the best chilies I have ever roasted, so good. Another year I bought sack in St. David, AZ very good and hot.

Just memories of good times.

Farmhouse Rules--a new show on Food Network

I am so surprised so many people get on the defensive when someone uses the word "Overweight". Being so much overweight is a problem, Ina is BIG, so is Mario. I don't think their cooking has anything much to do with it, it is their eating habits and the health risks associated with it. We are an overweight nation and it would be nice if more people would burn as much calories as they consume.

Leave Guy Fieri alone: Why he has nothing to do with the Food Network’s decline

they have to do what they have to do, but I still don't like him one bit and I really don't watch the FN anymore, Cooking Channel was ok but has sunken too. I will continue watching PBS and some other cooking programs on other channels.

Worse McDonald's Item (No McD bashing, please)

I am not much of a fast food shopper, but a couple of years ago for some odd reason, I really was into their $1.00 McDobbler. It wasn't great but it was tasty.

Arby's, just how is their roast beef made?

I use to like Arby's, but like everything else, it seems to me that when I now take a bite it is seasoned cardboard.
