well known brands that just arent as good as in the past

After finishing my (I guess old bottle of Hershy's syrup) I bought a new one. Oh my gosh, how the taste has changed, not only was the bottle cheaper plastic but the taste is just awful. Nothing like the chocolate syrup of before. How sad

Food Savers/ Vacuum Sealers: Do you use them and are they worth the expense?

thank you all so much for your input, after much thought, I do feel it would benefit me to purchase one and your information has been very helpful. I will be letting you know which one I purchase.

I must then reconsider and look into this item, as I hate wasting food. (Which one would you suggest I look at, I am single and do like to cook).

thank you JoanN and Tom34

MACHINES, BAGS, all so expensive for a single person. Ziploc back and suck air out with a straw,

Anyone else over Guy Fierri?

I just don't know what his appeal is to get so much airtime. He seems to be on the Food Network 24/7, just a loud-mouth that gets attention.

I need your best recipes featuring avocado!

You may find them in some stores, sometimes you can find them in the jar already cooked or in the vegetable area sometimes already diced or the paddles. Just add them to boiling salted water with some garlic. Let it boil little while then turn down the heat and simmer until they are tender. You can also add them in uncooked.

Looking for cilantro sold with roots in Queens.

maybe you can go buy a plant at a nursery, or just plant a few coriander seeds in a pot.

Eggs all Taste The Same to Me

I do buy cage-free, I just can't stand poor chickens cooped up the way they are. I have noticed that the shells are very thin, when I lived in a small little town and everyone had chickens, the yokes were very yellow, eggs did have such a deeper taste. I hope to look for a local farmer or farmer's market

so much about this, not to much excitement about the Neely's divorce and they were sickening sweet on their show.

"The original comment has been removed"

Unless comments are extremely offensive with vulgarity or the like, I just don't understand why they are removed. Most of us are responsible adults and to have restrictions on what we can and cannot read is foolish. Oh well, it is their board and I guess I can stop visiting.

Chowhound: How About Working WITH Us Rather Than TO Us?

I am lost with this new format, I come here to relax, read what others think about topics, get new ideas, etc., however, these changes are so (*^%^&$) I think I have to go somewhere else. Are there other sites out there?

Is Garlic Good for You or Bad for You? - Bon Appétit

I am a garlic "taste" lover, however, I just have never noticed any medicinal benefits. I have had pneumonia, gall stones, colds, etc. As far as I am concerned, it enhances food flavors and that's about it.

What to do with old dishes

I use them as water catchers when I water my plants, I have found them better than the plastic stuff you buy at plant nurseries.

Is cooking on propane dirty??

I had to use propane for about a year, my dad set it up for me. When he lit the stove a blue flame was always there. He said that was clean burning, he was an old plumber/handyman who did things right, I know I never had any problems with it.

Changes coming at Olive Garden...

I had lunch there the other day, two baskets of bread sticks, soup came with my lunch then the waiter encouraged me to have more soup and to try the other kind, so I did.
It was very good and needless to say, I took most of my main course home in a doggie bag.
