Thank you! I will be on the look out, that is such a neat idea! My husband's been there for lunch and said they have a good burger, so I'm onboard! |

Thank you! I hadn't heard of many of those, can't wait to check them out! |

Yes, I was a camp counselor in Charleston for years, I thought I had the hot/humid thing down, then I moved to Houston. We're happy to be back in SC! |

We just moved to Columbia from Houston. We have a 10 month old that (so far) is a joy to have out and about. Any recs for local, interesting places that don't mind people with babies in tow? We try to go to dinner early as not to put a damper on dates or grown- up gatherings, but we still like to eat like grown-ups ourselves. |

Dinner rec- possibly near Stoneleigh Hotel Hi, I'm in Dallas for one night next Monday. I've been searching threads, but haven't found "the one" yet. I'll be with my mother and aunt and am looking for a semi-casual, fun place for dinner. I'm pregnant and will adore just about anything on a plate, but my family is a little picky. I was thinking about Samar, but didn't know if it would be a little too out there for my mom. Has anyone been there with a "meat & pots" companion, if so, did they like it? Thanks for any suggestions! |

Hitchcock, Bainbridge Island- Brunch review I've been meaning to add to this post, I'm glad for the reminder. I had a very nice dinner about a month ago and found a lot of improvement in the service. Dinner was delicious and I love the $1 oyster happy hour. I'm looking forward to some nice dinners at Hitchcock this summer (whenever that finds it's way here.) |

Hitchcock, Bainbridge Island- Brunch review I was walking by this past weekend and noticed that Hitchcock had stopped serving brunch? Does anyone know if this a permanent change? Might they start back in the summer? |

What Is the Least Romantic Restaurant in the Boston Area? Ha, love this topic for today! I have to say it's hard to feel romantic while watching your beloved load up his tray with The Fat Boy at Jim's Deli on Washington St. surrounded by hungover college students. I always got a wink and an extra pickle from Jim though, so maybe there is some romance to be found! ----- |

Charleston's Best Restaurants for NYC Foodies? I just wanted to add a few I didn't see mentioned here. I always think it is worth a drive out to Sullivan's Island when I am in town. A walk down Middle Street will give you options ranging from upscale to bbq. I love Poe's for great burgers and margaritas. And then you can walk off you meal on the beach. SI is one of my favorite nights out. ----- |

Cape Cod in Winter discussion....Anything? I think you'd def. be fine going casual. Every time I've been there, I've seen people in everything from khakis and dresses to jeans and track suits (grrrr!). No one has ever seemed out of place. |

Cape Cod in Winter discussion....Anything? Just got back from a weekend in Falmouth, I continue to be impressed by The Glass Onion. I love the atmosphere, service and of course, the food. I tried to get into Anejo on Main Street, but it was jammed (no reservations, no room at the bar...). I've heard both good and eh reviews for the food, but nothing but good for the homemade guac and great margaritas. Has anyone been? http://www.anejomexicanbistro.com/ http://www.theglassoniondining.com/Th... ----- |

Great dinner at the Glass Onion This will be a weak review... I apologize ahead of time. We had dinner at The Glass Onion in Falmouth a few weeks back and the details of the meal are starting to fade. However, we has such a nice time, I wanted to say something! We went on a Saturday night for a joint anniversary dinner (2 couples). Unfortunately, they do not take reservations for parties under six, but when we called ahead to see about the wait at around 7:30 pm, we were assured that no matter what time we were seated, the kitchen would be fully operational. When we arrived around 8, there was an hour wait. I have to say, I have never experienced a more pleasant wait for a table. We were handed a wine list and brought a glass of wine immediately (despite there being multiple parties waiting). They have a nice porch to wait on, in fact, I saw many people go ahead and order their bottle of wine and start the evening on the porch. We found some comfortable seats and had a nice time talking and people watching while we waited. Despite being extremely busy, they were nice enough to get my hubs a cup of coffee (Coffee O's closed at 6 on a Saturday... I know it's Fall but... 6!). A smile and a drink go A LONG way in making waiting a pleasure. Anyhow, dinner... we had a great waiter, he was wonderful about questions. We started with a complimentary amuse bouche, duck confit and caramelized sweet onion, very good. Even my mother who never eats duck agreed it was nice. The special salad that night was something with blue cheese, and it was great. I wish I could remember more details, but it was the delicious cheese that stayed with me. We also got the crab and cod cake, it was light and not too bready. I'm not a huge crab cake lover and I thought it was one of the best I've had. I had the special that night: flounder in a buttery caper sauce. It was lovely. The sauce still felt light and lemony and the fish was cooked nicely. What my companions had, I'm trying to recall. I believe there was a seafood stew, a rib-eye and maybe scallops?? I do remember that there were positive reviews all round. We had dessert waiting for us at home, but there seemed to be some nice options. I really liked the wine list too, a few good choices by the glass and lots of nice options for bottles with a good range in prices. And the atmosphere is lovely, a bright, pretty room and not too loud. Overall, this was great evening. I think Falmouth really needs a fine dining option that is not Italian. And while I would never turn down a basket of fried clams, as someone who grew up on the Cape, sometimes you want something different, this is perfect. It is the type of place where half the room was in dress clothes and the other half in jeans, everyone seemed comfortable. I wish them luck and would highly recommend the Glass Onion for a nice night out. ----- |

Hitchcock, Bainbridge Island- Brunch review I apologize if I'm belaboring some points on this board, but I think Jeffo405 has it correct: "I sincerely hope Hitchcock starts putting as much attention on the front of the house as they do the kitchen." We finally made it back for dinner and again, the food was great (we had some nice starters: lox and pate, our entrees of duck breast and pork belly were wonderful, the zucchini that came with my duck was outstanding ) and I liked the atmosphere... but the service was so off. Our waitress was perfectly nice, as was the hostess and bartender, however, we sat for almost twenty minutes before someone came over to greet us and take a drink order! Believe me, I can forgive much with a drink in my hand. As for the rest of the evening, we had similar experiences as everyone else, weird pacing (husbands bourbon sat on the bar just beyond reach getting increasingly watered down by the minute!) and a feeling of being forgotten about by our waitress. I do have to say that again, the chef and kitchen staff were out and about stopping by tables, which is always nice. I REALLY want to like this restaurant, so much potential. I prepared to give one more go before I give up on them. Maybe on a Sunday night dinner someone mentioned above. |

Saturday lunch Beacon Hill recs? I'm in Boston on an upcoming Saturday for a few hours. I wanted to do the autumn Public Gardens stroll and maybe shopping on Charles St. I haven't been in about a year, has anyone had a good lunch in the area lately? Interested in any and all types of restaurants. Thanks! |

Hitchcock, Bainbridge Island- Brunch review I've been trying to find if anyone has done a dinner review of Hitchcock on Bainbridge. Looking at the recent posts for Kitsap eats board, no seems to have mentioned it. Anyhow, new restaurant on Winslow (I want to say they opened in the spring). We went for brunch a few weeks ago and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend breakfast. |

Hi, looking for a rec for dinner in Wilmington. We're going to a show at Thalian Hall, so nearby would be great. I've looked at Elijah's and the location looks wonderful, how's the food? Also, we have a non-seafood eater in the group, so I like to find places that offer more than a steak for the poor ocean-phobic diner. Other than that, we like all sorts of cuisines and price ranges. Thanks! |

Suggestions for Victoria, BC dinner I'm looking for favorite restaurants for a special occasion dinner in Victoria. I'm coming from Seattle, so PacNorthWest cuisine isn't vital (although always enjoyed), basically up for any type of good food, but would like a wine list that reflects B.C. wineries. |

One night for dinner- West Hollywoodish I'll be in L.A. for one night (this Saturday) and am looking for recs for dinner for two. I've looked at some previous boards and nothing jumped out. We're staying at Andaz on Sunset and would love something close, but are willing to drive a bit if necessary. I'm looking for something mid-range, entrees under $25 if possible, not over the top but interesting and will eat anything, but have had a lot of Italian lately. I already have a reservation at Bazaar (late!!), but would be willing to cancel if someone has a better idea. Oh, and I guess somewhere I could get a reservation for this Sat. (seeing as it is Wednesday) would be great! |
