New Orleans Cuisine in New Orleans........

Is the streetcar to CP area up and running? Heard it was down after Isaac. I'm a tourist heading out there next week and staying in the quarter.

Houston Hound visiting New Orleans

I'm headed that way next week Lambowner! Here's my line-up:

Lunches: Mr. B's, Galatoire's, Muriel's
Dinners: GW Fins and Revolution
Also gonna fit some oyster's from Felix's in there at some point!

I've never been to K-Paul's....always been curious about it.

Galatoire's Friday Line-Up

Going to attempt the Galatoire's Friday lunch coming up here in a few weeks (November 8th to be exact). I'm really looking forward to it - and I hope we can get the first seating (party of 3)! I've heard so many different opinions on when to when to go, when to line, etc. I'm actually really anxious about it! :-/

My boss says he "knows a guy - who HAS a guy" (a specific waiter I assume) who can help us secure a place in line. He said having a specific waiter would help. BUT - I'd rather not rely on someone else's connection that may or may NOT come through.

We are fully prepared to camp out in the early hours with Bloody Marys in hand (both hands of course!). So any recent experiences and tips would be great!

Thanks!

Suggestion for a few more restaurants

My mouth waters just thinking about their lamb.....

First time we went we waited about an hour, then a few weeks ago we only waited 15. Both times with a reservation.

Felix's?!?

Felix's is my favorite place for oysters in New Orleans, regardless of their situation. I was just in a few weeks ago and the atmosphere has remained the same.

A few other chowhounds would like the moderators to remove my post because of the title. It was never meant in an offensive way. Every response has been positive and informative. I would just like to apologize if anyone else finds my post negative or bothersome.

Please Critique My Dining Itinerary!

I've been to Bayona for dinner and was actually considering it for lunch! Been wanting to try the duck pb&j, and I know mother would love. Thanks for the help!

Please Critique My Dining Itinerary!

We're staying on Bourbon Street. What would be the best way to get to Commander's if we decide to do dine there for Friday lunch? Taxi or streetcar?

Please Critique My Dining Itinerary!

My fiance and I are taking my mother to Nola in early November. Any tips or recommendations would be great. Here's what I got:

Thursday-
Pre-Lunch stop at Felix's for some raw and char-grilled oysters!
Lunch at Mr's B's for some BBQ shrimp
Pre-Dinner Cocktails and Apps at French 75
Dinner Restaurant R'Evolution

Friday-
Breakfast: Grabbing some beignets to go from either Cafe Du Monde or Cafe Beignet. Enjoying them on our balcony with some coffee and Mimosas. I've only had CDM beignets in the past.
Lunch at Galatoire's (Contemplating back-up if we cannot get the first seating)
Pre-dinner Cocktails at Carousel Bar or Hermes Bar
Dinner at Nola (this was toss up between Nola and Emeril's)

Saturday
Breakfast: Thinking of grabbing something from Croissant D'Or and bringing it back to the room again. Are there any other bakeries that might be better or is this place legit?
Lunch at Muriel's
Bloody mary's at Bar Tonique before we head to the airport :-(

Felix's?!?

Stopped by yesterday with an Abita in one hand and a Bloody Mary in the other. Atmosphere was great, just as I remembered. Chargrilled oysters were delish.

Felix's?!?

Urban Spoon says it's permanently closed. Hopefully someone will catch wind soon so there is no more confusion.

Felix's?!?

I just checked out Felix's page on Urban Spoon. Says PERMANENTLY CLOSED. I'm so disappointed! Can anyone confirm?

Felix's?!?

Yeah. There is a Luke in San Antonio where I've been a few times, not really the vibe I'm looking for - plus it's a little far from the Quarter.

Felix's?!?

I just read about Felix's financial/IRS hardships, and I'm just plain disappointed! No more liquor license? Boooooo. My fiance and I are ANTI-ACME. Our next trip to Nola is next month, so here's the deal: where can we get some oysters AND a nice cold Abita, in a casual, friendly, dive-type setting (in the quarter)? We love standing at the bar and having each oyster shucked with some good conversation.

Pri-Fixe Lunches

I'm aware of Bayona's, and even considering Augusts'. Any other recommendations for prixe fix lunch spots? In the Quarter would be preferable. Thanks!

Brunch in the heat

Okay, plan on having 11:30am brunch at Court of Two Sisters in a few weeks. Will it be too hot for the courtyard? Do they have fans? Misters? How is the ambiance inside? Oh, I'm from south Texas so my definition of too hot may differ a little!

Best Valentine's Day Ambiance

Flying in from Texas on Valentine's Day. Debating between Antoine's, Arnaud's, and Bayona for Valentine's Day dinner. Need some opinions as to which one would be the most romantic and have the best atmosphere. What do you guys/gals think? Anyone been to either of these in the past on V-Day?

Sushi next Saturday

Wanting to make a reservation for next Saturday. Now I hear Okada has the best sushi, but I'm really digging Yellowtail's and Shibuya's atmosphere and decor. Plus I saw a picture of patrons dining at Okada and one gentlemen had shorts on and I was extremely turned off. These are my top four picks, any recent reviews and opinions?

1. Yellowtail
2. Shibuya
3. Nobu
4. Okada

Iris and MiLa

Stella! is my dream restaurant for sure! I think it's just a little out of our price range though.

Iris and MiLa

Okay, trying to decide on a place for an upscale dinner on a Monday night in NOLA. I've narrowed it down to MiLa or Iris. Thoughts? Instead of studying for my LSAT I'm obsessively researching meals and it's driving me insaaaaane! Am I the only one who does this type of thing? LOL.

Which would YOU pick?!?

My boyfriend and I are looking for a great restaurant for dinner on a Monday night in NOLA. Here are the four I have narrowed it down to, 1 being my favorite and 4 being my least favorite. Which would you pick? Anyone had the tasting menu @ Cuvee recently? The tasting menu @ MiLa seems to be a bargain. IDK. (I love lamb and Foie Gras if that helps).

1.Cuvee
2.Mila
3.Iris
4.Le Foret
