What's the thread of buddhist temples? I've been to a few, but was unaware of a thread dedicated to the subject

Montreal bagels for a California girl

Enough of this "New York bagel" BS. I've scoured the SF board and am mortified this question hasn't been answered. Where to find a wonderful Montreal bagel? I'm looking for a good Montreal bagel in the CIty or East Bay. Chewy, small, sweet, and preferably covered with sesame seeds. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I will follow the love.

Mrs. Hue’s Caramelized Pork in Clay Pot (Thit Kho To) from

So I think you're missing a few crucial ingredients to this recipe. I had my mom and my aunt teach me how to make thit kho trung a few years ago (I prefer my aunt's more, but don't tell my mom that!). In any case, almost all "kho" recipes involve nuoc mau, or caramel. The process to make this is kind of tedious (and potentially dangerous) but definitely critical. You also seem to be missing coconut juice or coconut soda, which I'm a fan of. I'm actually making a pot of this right now, which is why I'm looking at your post, haha.

Where to go, what to do . . . where to eat?!

I really appreciate the mention of the Vietnamese food. I'm from San Jose, California and we have a mighty big Vietnamese community that I'm a part of and grew up in, so it'd be great to see what another hub looks like. Is there a specific area of Vietnamese food and/or culture?

Where to go, what to do . . . where to eat?!

I'm taking a trip to the lovely Montreal soon, a place I haven't been since the ripe old age of SIXTEEN. This means, I'd appreciate recommendations for both bars where I can get socially lubricated and places to eat afterward. Also, suggestions for a few "classy" restaurants and activities wouldn't hurt either. I offer my thanks in advance.

Cherries? Yay! In a jar? Boo!

I am in possession of a presently useless 24 oz jar of dark morello cherries in light syrup from Trader Joe's. I love cherries, however, when they're in a jar and floating around in some sort of sugar water, they confound me. I want to make something for the people I work with since they so kindly offered me what has the potential to become a very messy paperweight. Does anyone have a decent recipe for these cherries? I'm thinking a chocolate cake or a rice pudding, perhaps? Oh and I should mention, I'm trying to stay away from pies. Bad pie experience, don't ask.

Restaurant itinerary for 4.5 day San Francisco/Napa Valley visit - look good?

I am a big fan of Mustard's Grill in Napa, plus I don't think it's outrageously priced. Happy hunting!
