I noticed nobdy mentioned "the roti hut" on pittfield near MaCowen and 401. I think their roti is great. |

Where is good BBQ food in Toronto? yeah well a few people on the board have told me they weren't crazy about the ribest either. I don't know what to say but I find far superiour to the places I mentioned. Having that said, I will say that last year I only hit up two and they definitetly weren't as good as previous years. Hopefully they are good again this year. it also depends on the vendor. I like boss hogs http://www.bosshogsbbq.ca/#menu-item-20 and bad wolf Funny cause the first ribfest I ever went to I heard lots of good stuff about Uncle Sam's, and it was spot on. I with in love, but about the 3rd year they didn't seem to be as good so I started to try other vendors. |

Where is good BBQ food in Toronto? that does look very good. Hopefully if they have some success they will open one up here in the big smoke. |

Where is good BBQ food in Toronto? If anyone on this board knew the answer to this question they would be the most popular person on the board. There is no real BBQ places in Toronto. The only time you'll get real bbq is the ribfest in the summer. I have tried every place on this board that people talk about and none of them compare to ribfest. Phil's origininal BBQ, Buster Rhino's, Paul and Sandy's ect... and it's always a flop. Ther is only one place I haven't tried and it looks pretty promising and it's a food truck. here is the link http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/860348 I'll give it a go when they open up for the summer. |

The Great Canadian BBQ Joint (Mississauga) My money is on the place sucks like every other proclaimed "BBQ" place in the GTA |

Best dinner buffet in the GTA - any ideas? coppa was the first thing that came to my mind. I know your looking for American style, but I would also recommend spoon and fork. I'm not even big on Asian food, but really like this place. http://www.spoonandfork.ca/vaughan.php You can order something from the menu or do all you can eat. |
can't, that's the problem, and it doesn't have anything to do with the venue in my opinion. When I go to the ribfest, I almost always go by myself and get the ribs to go. I have a few in my car and then take the rest home so the whole idea that my brain is making some kind of romantic connection between the festival and the ribs that make them taste better I don't think applies IMHO. |

I don't mind traveling across the city but Winona is a bit far. |

Okay, let me start by saying I just finished my meal Paul and Sandy's, I definitley would never skip a ribfest to go there. Having that said, it is the best place I've been to outside of the ribfest. I've been to Buster Rhino's, Phils original BBQ and every other place mentioned on this board and was always a dissapointment. This place is actually pretty good, but again, I'd never say it's better than some of the good ribbers from ribfest. @ylsf I just had a rack of ribs. I didn't know they had more than one location. It was in whitby and sort of an industrial area too. I hear what your saying, many people still say good things abouwt them. Wasn't my cup of tea. |
Decided to give this place a try. I'm here right now and will report back later..lol |
I kind of hear what your saying but I dont always think that's the case. These pics are how the human stomach works. (I believe I was at the Hawgs gone wild booth in these ones.) |

I don't know. All I can say is I love most of the vendors a ribfest. I think if any of the really good ribbers open up a location, it would do well. I have to be carefull saying that though because there are some places that have a spot at the ribfest and they have actual locations but they aren't good. For example like memphis grill in woodbridge enter a few, and there stuff is far from good. Turtle Jacks even were at least one ribfest last year. Im not sure about your analogy for camp 31 and having a beer in Mexico. Ive never gone to camp 31 in paris. Just know that's where they have their location. I've only tried them from the ribfest and liked them a lot. Having said that, there are other places I even like more. Bad wolf is great, hawgs gone wild and Uncle Sams. |

I don't understand people that open up BBQ places in Toronto. They all try, put these names on them that sound very authentic but the food never taste like authentic BBQ. You can give it whatever name you want, and have someone with the title "master smoker" or whatever all you want. At the end of the day, if the product doesn't taste like what every Torontonian is hoping for (a real BBQ place), they aint coming back. You can even get away with sub standord service if the food is awsome. I can't understand for the life of me why a place like camp 31 doesn't open up a location in the GTA. Place in my opinion would be a gold mine, but I know nothing about the cost of runninng any type of food establishment. |

Portuguese Restaurant for 60th! If location is a must, I used to go to this place all the time and loved it. They have a few locations more west: (I used to get the tiger shrimp a lot )If you don't mind traveling to the centre of the city, there's no doubt coppacabanna is the place to hit. (however that's Brazilian not Portuguese but I'm guessing very similar) |

@ylsf Buster Rhino's??? Seriously??? I drove there all the way from North York based on things from this board and couldn't be more disappointed. I think ribfest ribs are waaaay better. Last year was really the first time at the ribfest that I felt they were mediocre. That certainly wasn't enough to put me off them. I I guess it goes to show it's all a matter of perspective/personal preference cause board member filtered said he thought memphis and yonge and sheppard was good and which were the furthest thing from good BBQ in my opinion. |
I have heard good things about Paul and Sandy's, not sure I could skip a ribfest though. @filtered Can't believe you like that place memphis at Yonge and Sheppard. I used to live and work right at that corner so I was pretty excited when the place opened up. Tried and couldn't belive how bad the ribs were. |
Well, the nice weather has me already craving ribfest. Last year I only went to two, Scarborough and Mississauge. I will admit that they didn't seem quite as good as years in the past. Anyone else notice this? I still like them though and plan on going to a bunch seeing as that is the only times you can get good ribs in the GTA. Was also curious to know what everyone favorite ribbers are? I really used to like Uncle Sam's but over the last couple of years I've prefered bad wolf and hawgs gone wild. |

Chinese near Spadina and Dundas for the uninitiated Used to order the cold tea all the time when I was younger. Would hit the place up after a night partying with the crew...lol. I remember one time me and some friends went down there after a night at the pub. One of my friends ordered "cold tea" and the waiter looked at him strange and said "you know it's only 11:30 right?" lol we were so out of it we didn't even know what time it was and my friend trying to hide his embarrassment politely responded with "I'll have a budwiser please" lol |

Chinese near Spadina and Dundas for the uninitiated I go here about once every two weeks. Love this place. It's called Hong Shing at Dundas and University. Not sure how quiet it is. |

Ive been using them for two years and never had a problem. Not only that, nobody that I know that uses them has never had a problem. |
