Microwave Oven - Is it possible to get one without a turntable?

Amana Commercial microwaves do not have turntables; they have several different 1000 watt units, some with dial timers and some programmable. Look for their RMS series or their RCS series.

Any good eats in DAVIDSON, NC?

You could try Brickhouse Tavern-good food, although it's been a couple of years since I ate there, or Restaurant X(I have not eaten there).

Mystery cookware

Sorry, I don't have one, I have just eaten the wonderful treats that come from them at many a street cart in Mexico. Try fried quesadillas made with fresh masa, or sopes or gorditas-fry them in the center well, then move them to the top edge to drain/stay warm.

Mystery cookware

Not all comales are flat-they can have a recessed center or a dome center. The recessed center would typically hold oil or lard for frying, and you can warm tortillas around the edge. These are often used by street vendors.

Sur la table- Microwave Popper

You can use oil, but I do not-you can add any seasonings to the kernels before or after popping, or spray with Smart Balance or other "buttery" sprays after.

Restaurant plans in Charleston and Savannah; How should I change my "eating itinerary?"

I had dinner at Jazz'd Tapas on Saturday night and every plate we tried was outstanding! We especially loved the she crab stew, the chorizo stuffed mushrooms, and the martini tenderloin tips.

8" Chef's knives: Mercer Genesis vs. Mundial 5100

The Dexter Russell I-Cut is a very nice forged blade knife in your price range-about $37.00.

Wusthof just came out with a new foodservice line, the Wusthof Pro. It is a stamped blade, the 8" chefs knife is around $30.00.

West/SW Charlotte (NC) eats?

You might want to venture across the river into Belmont. I live in west Charlotte and there are several casual places in downtown Belmont, as well as Gastonia. We like Sammy's Neighborhood Pub, Old Stone Steakhouse, and Jax in Belmont, and Sakura and Lotus in Gastonia.

All-Clad skillet cleaning suggestions wanted

I use a product called Carbon-Off to clean grease residue off stainless pans. If you have a restaurant supply nearby, you could pick up a can, or order it online. It is made by Discovery Products. It is caustic, so wear gloves, but it has cleaned up some nasty pans for me!

dog-friendly in Charlotte, NC

If you haven't found it yet, the US National Whitewater center is a great place to dine outdoors with your dog. The food is good, they have a decent beer selection, and you can hike off your meal afterwards!

Appetizer using shrimp & avocado

Poach your shrimp in a mixture of ketchup, lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and minced garlic. After the shrimp are cooked, strain the liquid into another container, and chill both shrimp and liquid. When the liquid has cooled, add in chopped tomato, jalapeno, onion, and avocado, season with black pepper, a dash(or two or three) of louisiana hot sauce, and a drizzle of olive oil. Stir in the shrimp, season with salt to taste, and enjoy your shrimp ceviche cocktail with tostadas............

Looking for Good Quality Flatware with Extra Spoons and Forks

Superior Products restaurant supply has a pattern that looks similar to the Wallace and you can buy each piece by the dozen. Take a look on and look at the Radianz pattern. It is an 18/0, but I have been using it at home for over 2 years now without any rusting issues. There is also an 18/8 version of Radianz available if you prefer.

Elegant, wine friendly pork entree for a dinner party

I have made this pork wellington several times, you can have it prepped ahead of time and just bake it off when ready. I got the recipe from Cuisine at Home magazine, but this is the only link i could find online:
