New Brunswick Dining Suggestions

That's a shame about El Burrito Loco. Their Pico de Gallo was delicious. Mexicali Rosa's is terrible. Why did they close? I know I tended to avoid the place in spite of liking their food because the server who insisted on trying to dress our table up in mexican hats and take photos of us every time we went there drove me insane. I wonder if it hurt their business in general?

I like Caribbean Flavas in Fredericton for supper, but it's quite expensive. The market in Fredericton on Saturday mornings is great. El Burrito Loco has decent mexican. Snooty Fox has good pub food.

Going to Halifax for 4 day business...suggestions?

I would recommend chives as the best restaurant in Halifax by far for supper.

Avoid Ryan Duffys at your hotel for sure.

The Press Gang is the place to go for oysters, and their mains are good but you can get better for the price (Chives, Da Maurizio). I usually sit at the bar and get martini's and oysters when I'm there.

Hamachi house has good sushi downtown. Gingergrass has good Thai. There are lots of pubs but most of the food at them sucks. The red stag in the brewery market has decent pub food as does rogue's roost on Spring Garden.

I never get lobster at restaurants, but the few times I've had it was not very good (Bicycle Thief). The only way to eat lobster is cooked yourself in a pot in the backyard, or at least cooked by the fisherman immediately before you pick them up. You're outside of lobster season now though.

Il marcato is a halifax staple for italian if your group isn't overly adventurous.

The Coastal is the best place for a big breakfast but likely it won't fit into your plans.

Nova Scotia wines

I generally don't really like Nova Scotia reds. I tried Luckett Phone Box recently and hated it.

Thai food in Halifax

They do! One of the best Pad Thai's I've had and their curries are delicious. They do both thai and vietnam but I think the menu is more thai.

Thai food in Halifax

Chabaa is excellent, but I think Gingergrass is my favorite Thai restaurant. Their Pad Thai is great! I'm really not a fan of Taly Thai. For some reason it is always listed on the Coast Best of Food, but I've never had a good meal there.
