Is a Food Processor a Must-Have Kitchen Appliance?

Hummus, mayo, peanut sauce, pie dough, pesto, liver pate. Mine does it all. Sure, a blender could do some of that, but the food processor does a much better job. Especially emulsions where you need to drizzle in the oil.

Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with Fried Capers

Really liked this one. Subbed red wine vinegar and it turned out great.

Mixed Mushroom Casserole

Subbed shittake, beech, and matsutake mushrooms. Simple prep, delicious, and very rich.

Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi in San Francisco

Serious Eats did a piece nearly identical to this one. Their pictures had ingredients and should be easy to find on the web.

Eating the Placenta: It Tastes Like Squab!

Many animals eat their own feces....I guess that means humans should do it.

My Server Is Stoned!

I agree with JeMange. Patrons pay good money for proper service. If you can't perform your job properly under the influence, then you've had too much. If I want crappy service from some tweaked out server, I'll go to waffle house, but that's not something I want at a "fine" dining establishment. A proper manager would want to know about a stoned server providing sub-par service. This means the patron is not having a good experience, and is not likely to come back.

Baked Quinoa Adobado

Made this recipe last night with grilled corn on the cob and it was delicious, albeit very spicy. Works well as a side dish or a main course.

Rocky Road Bars

Wow, these were delicious. Followed the recipe exactly and they turned out fantastic. Not too sweet, a nice balance of sweet, salty, nutty. Highly recommended!

Vinegar and Spice Oven-Baked Ribs

One of the few chow recipes I wouldn't recommend. Waaaay too much lemon flavor for my tastes. I guess I'm just used to slow cooked, smoked ribs; probably why I was disappointed.

Potato Salad with Peas and Mint

A delicius alternative to the heavy, mayo based potato salads. Perfect for a summer barbecue and incredibly easy to prepare.
