Searching for the best baba au rhum in Paris

And which kitchen cooks them on a daily basis? How about Chez Denise?

8th arr area?

We will actually stay in Le Marais during our time in Paris. So we will have spent all day and night Monday there, and then Tues is spent visiting the museums near Eiffel Tower. Maybe I should have mentioned this in my original post.

8th arr area?

So on a Wednesday, we are having lunch at Epicure (at Le Bristol). Following that, we plan on walking up Champs Elysees to Arc du Triomph with really no other plan but to walk off our lunch, which we expect to be heavy. Shall we spend the rest of our day around that area and have dinner there? We will have used up our museum pass and toured the Eiffel Tower and toured down the Seine river already. If so, do you guys have any recommendations for a good restaurant in the area that's non-touristy and reasonably priced? Otherwise, what do you guys recommend that we do with the rest of the day? Thank you.

Sandwiches

"Although 'the southwestern part of Le Marais' is ultra-touristy...."

Isn't Le Marais where all the hipsters live and hang out? Where are these hipsters and hip cafes located?

Sandwiches

What are some sandwich shops as good as Le Petit Vendome in proximity to the southwestern part of Le Marais? I've seen some pictures of their sandwiches on tr*padvisor and common sense tells me that we shouldn't have to make a trip to 8th just to have a sandwich. But I would if that's what it takes. Thanks.

Please critique our list of chosen places in Paris

Thank you for your reply. I have updated my post with days and month.

It seems replacing rue Cler with Marché Maubert would be better. Excellent suggestion.

Any suggestions for boulangeries? I had been looking for boulangeries that were located nearby either Champ de Mars or Le Marais from a competition list on Parisbymouth and crossed out those that were closed on Tuesdays. The site even had a map of all the boulangeries ranked highly from the competition. Perhaps the competition list is a bogus tourist scheme?

We will be in Paris only on weekdays, would that be okay for lunch at Le Comptoir du Relais?

Thank you for the Epicerie Générale suggestion. How much does it cost? Will look into this. But do locals use their services? I read that Parisians despise pre-made, on-the-go type products and prefer to buy fresh ingredients from specialized shops, so that was the reasoning behind our itinerary.

We are also looking for suggestions for a Thursday picnic in Versailles, since their outside market would be closed that day.

Looking forward to your reply.

Please critique our list of chosen places in Paris

Dear CH,

We will be based in Le Marais (10 minutes slow walk north from Notre Dame) and are hoping for some recommendations/critiques for our list of restaurants:

Month = May

Monday
Lunch - Le Comptoir du Relais
Dinner - Frenchie - apparently there isn't much love for this restaurant on CH, so I might change it.

Tuesday
Lunch - picnic at Champs de Mars with ingredients from Philippe Gosselin (the famous boulangerie nearby the park isn't open on this day, so instead of grabbing baguettes last, we'll have to grab them first from nearby our base), Fromagerie Laurent Dubois, Poilâne, Rue Cler Market
Dinner - Cafe Constant after a sunset tour of Eiffel Tower

Wednesday
Lunch - Epicure
Dinner - Le Trumilou

Thursday
Versailles picnic?
Too bad the outside market isn't open on this day. Any suggestions?

Friday
Lunch - Chez Denise

We welcome any suggestions/critiques.

Thank you.

Edited: Added month and days of the week per reader request.

Bordeaux Lunch before Departing

We will be leaving Bordeaux on a Tuesday, driving to the airport from the Perigord area. We are open to both country and city restaurant suggestions.

If you could only eat at one place around the area before you leave forever, where would you eat? Lunch would start at 12pm, and your plane would depart at 4, leaving you with 1.5 hours to eat and the other 2.5 hours to return your car and check-in.

Thanks.

Bordeaux late night dinner

My wife and I are arriving to Bordeaux at around 10PM on a Friday. Could chowhound please suggest some really great restaurants that are willing to seat us at around 10:30 or 11pm? I have directly inquired about some bistros already but most close at around 10:30p with last seating at 9:30p. Thanks.

Where to eat in Fukuoka, Kurakawa Onsen, and Tokyo

Will be on a honeymoon trip to Kyushu and Tokyo. We're going to Fukuoka for Tonkotsu ramen, Saga for saga beef (or would it be just as good in Fukuoka?), and Kurakawa Onsen for their ryokan. We're thinking either Sushi Mizutani or Sukiyabashi Jiro for sushi, but they're so difficult to book. (Sukiyabashi Jiro's phone line has been busy for the past 4 days.) Any other suggestions?

Have been searching on chowhound and found some good suggestions. But would love up-to-date recommendations. What else is kyushu known for other than onsens, saga beef, and ramen?

Thanks.

Atlanta's top 10

Hi Chowhound,

Please recommend Atlanta's top 10 fine dining restaurants, with #1 being the best. I'm from the northeast and frequently dine at Michelin-star quality restaurants, so that's what I am hoping to match. This inquiry isn't just for me - it's for my soon-to-be in-laws as well. Please do your best. I really appreciate it. As for location, commuting is no problem as long as it is within a 50 mile radius from the center of Atlanta.

Thanks.
