Don Pepe Drive-Thru in Salinas?

I can confirm this. I know someone who is related to those who own Don Pepe in Fresno. I live near Salinas, and have lived in Fresno but have not been to either location. But, yes, they are of the same owners.

A hidden jewel in a little town on Montery Peninsula

If you find yourself here for a visit to the Monterey area consider this deli for great atmosphere, wonderful food both with authentic touches. Marina is tucked in between Monterey/Seaside and the coastal side of Salinas. Check out the great soups, sandwiches hot and cold with many bread choices. Their basil tortellini salad is awesome. Also great desserts such as chocolate espresso cheesecake mouse. Don't leave without stopping by. Closed Sundays .www.wildthymedeli.com

The Top Four Worst Coffeehouse Faux Pas

When I go to a "local" home grown coffee house.. the price is the same as Starbucks or Peets, however, 90% of the time the quality is inferior to the aforementioned. If I am going to spend the same amount of money.. I expect the coffee to be of good quality and flavor- not watered down and insipid. Some places don't use filtered and taste awful. Starbucks, and Peets, to a lesser degree have grown and prospered because they offer a good product and great customer service compared to the often snooty-snarkey staff at local home grown- non establishment we are better than the "big-guys" places. I have not found that to be the case.. sadly.

The Basics: How to Make Steamed Artichokes

I grew up with artichokes as part of our regular dinner menu. My mom cooked them in her pressure cooker, which I followed doing myself. I now have an electric pressure cooker and love it. I have only steamed artichokes once and did not come out as nice and moist as well as taking 3 times the amount of cooking time as the pressure method. It is so worth the investment in a pressure cooker.. and good for so many other things and cuts down on cooking time.
