Yusho help?

Thanks folks,

I will give Yusho a try, and not let myself get too fussed over the price.

The seafood thing is all relative. I'm from Ontario and the most readily accessible seafood we have here is Red Lobster. Buffets that offer more than peel and eat shrimp are rare here, and seafood boil places are unheard of. You guys might be in the desert, but the crustaceans seem to fly in there by the ton.

Yusho help?

I will be in Vegas Dec 25-31 (flying solo). I have a $50 credit for any restaurant at the Monte Carlo. I had planned on going to Yusho and trying the omakase...but I'm confused. I've see great reviews for Yusho and lousy reviews. Should I try Yusho or is there a better option at MC? I have no problem topping up the $50 to $150 for a great dinner. Also, I would like some seafood, while I'm in town. Am I better off taking a cab to Boiling Crab (etc) or going to Aria buffet?
Your experience and insight would be appreciated.

Niagara Falls, ON and NY - Restaurant recommendations

Most of the US locals go to La Galera. It's in a strip mall at the intersection of Hwy 62 (Niagara Falls Blvd) and Military Road.

It's not fancy but good food, reasonable prices and fairly quick service. It can be very busy if you go at peak times, and I don't think they take reservations.

SUMMERLICIOUS 2014

I can't understand why people would tip post-tax. Tax is not a service. The collection of tax may be a service provided to Revenue Canada, but not to me. Let Rev Can tip on that service :P

Downtown Burlington recs? Anything new?

You've got to try THE ALEX.
http://www.thealexrestaurant.com/

It's on the south side of Brant Street downtown..accross from the funeral home. The food is awesome and very reasonable. Same people are behind this restaurant as Rapscallion in Hamilton.

Hankering lobster

If you don't mind a bit of travelling, Jakes Grill & Oyster House in Burlington is having Lobsterfest this weekend. 11/2 pound steamed lobster dinner w potato and veg for $29.99 or add 4 oz beef tenderloin to make it surf & turf for 36.99. I've been to Jakes several times and have always had a great dinner.

Trader Joe's

This is probably not the right place to post this...but I thought the Ontario hounds would like to know...Trader Joe's has opened a store on Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst NY (a couple doors down from Boulevard Mall). It opened last weekend and it was slammed! I picked up a couple things, but plan to go back when the crowds have died down.

June 10 to 15 trip report...six days/six buffets!

Thanks very much for your post. I'll be in Vegas Oct 1 for three nights (Monday to Thursday). Any thoughts on who has good crab legs/seafood on a buffet?

Wanted: a lunch spot for a picky "princess"

Friends of mine had lunch at Biff's with a young child a couple years ago. The kitchen made a KILLER grilled cheese sandwhich for him. It was not listed on the menu. The little guy loved it and the adults were fighting for a taste too.

Rolly Rockets BBQ in Hamilton

I had dinner there last week. The portions are generous...choice of fries (potato or sweet potato), coleslaw, beans and cornbread came with each meal. Didn't try the ribs or pulled pork. I had the 1/4 chicken, and it had a slightly strange taste..not exactly smokey, not sure what it was. BUT the chicken was not cooked through...very pink at the bone. They have corndogs made in house, but they are meh. I will probably give them another try, as I really want to have a local barbecue place on my go to list.

Help me scratch some NOTL wineries off the list?

if you get to Beamsville, try Crown Bench. They specialize in ice wines, and have several lovely infused ones...chocolate, maple, jalapeno.. I don't think they do tours, but a nice little wine shop and and you can sample without paying an arm and a leg. http://www.crownbenchestates.com/

One healthy (AND DELICIOUS) option near Vineland

I second About Thyme Bistro. Great 3 course for $30pp, reasonable prices for wines and a graduated corkage fee that is quite cheap if you take local or Ontario wines. It's a small place, so best to make a reservation.

Niagara on the Lake lunch recomendations

You could try the Olde Angel Inn in NOTL. It is located off the parking lot behind the main street. It has a great pub with very good food at reasonable prices. I can recommend the steak, guiness and onion pie.

Has anyone eaten at The Mizzen?
