Breakfast in Toms River. Where?

Shut up and eat was terrible. Cheap food, the menu is gigantic and the prices make my head hurt.
Also Cafe Bistro in Silverton was terrible as well. Super cheap ingredients, coffee was garbage and no atmosphere.

The only place we go to now is C&G's in the KMart plaza on Rt 37 heading east.
Also really like the Cranberry Inlet Marina Cafe in Seaside (more for the great atmosphere of being on the water) but not sure if they are still open.
Toms River is basically a culinary wasteland so do not expect too much.

Too many choices! Traveling to Sicily and Southern Italy

Erica, I just ordered the Slow Food book.
I was not asking for people to plan my entire trip.
However ,asking for ideas and examples of previous trips taken.
This is my first time going to Italy and I'm sure many people out there have itineraries that they can share.

Here's a rough idea of places we would like to visit:
4 Days in Sicily including Palermo, Argrigento, Cantania
Stops in Calabria, Amalfia Coast
Few Days in Rome

Looking to fill in a few days in between.
Would love to visit a winery and olive oil mill.

Too many choices! Traveling to Sicily and Southern Italy

Hello chowhounders,
I apologize if this is redundant, but I am having a hard time searching on CH for this trip I am planning.

My husband and I are taking 2.5 weeks to see Sicily and Southern Italy (departing from Rome) and I am having a hard time finding specific locations for foodie tours (chocolate, pasta making, wineries) and would love any recommendations.

Additionally, if you have any itineraries you could include and lodging that would be amazing! You can email them to me if needed.

I am thinking 5 days in Sicily, then travel up the boot to Rome.
As you can see I haven't put much together.... HELP!

Many thanks,

12 Day trip To Italy: Venice, Verona, Florence, Rome, Positano/Sorrento, Capri. Where do I start???

Hi NYtransplant:
Thanks for your ideas and follow up comments.
I'm a fellow New Yorker and planning an Italy trip and overwhelmed with the possibilities of places to go.
Do you have an itinerary or list on the places you stayed and ate by chance? I would love to get a copy is possible?

Il Dolce Pizzeria- Costa Mesa....finally a real deal unpretentious artisanal pizzeria

The service was TERRIBLE!
After 20 minutes of sitting at a table with no menu, no water, no "sorry we are running a little behind" we walked out.
Will never go back.

So is it good!? Milk no milk , vegan or not vegan is great and all but is it GOOD?
I would love for a casual place, not overpriced, non chain with knock your socks off good food to be in Ladera! I'm afraid it will never exist. :(

Help with Holiday Party in Costa Mesa Area

Hello all,
I am looking for a place to have a holiday party near Costa Mesa.
We have a small group of 8 people. A budget of $100 per person.
Just want a place that will please all (last year we did STK in LA and it was a hit) and can have some good wine and chat comforatbly.
I was thinking Old Vine, Marche Moderne (have never been) or Houstons.
I have searched for similar posts and haven't found anything, so please let me know if you have any ideas or recs!
Thanks so much!

Help with OC Italian!!!

I agree with Cucina Alessa, but make reservations.
Or drive up to LA and go to Mozza for an amazing meal. ( I like Pizzeria Mozza a million times better then Ortica)
I have heard Momma Ds in Newport is good but have never been myself.

Critiqua of Ortica

I find it so strange that Ortica is trying to be exactly like Mozza but clearly they are not meeting slice to slice. From the logo design, food presentation, menu, its a knockoff.
I found the serving sizes to small, prices expensive, the gelato had large chunks of ice in it, and the pizza was soggy. Grrrr!

I love mozza, yes it is very very different then NY pizza, but I love the creativity and exotic ingredients. Its well worth the trip!

LA Pizza; But what about Orange County ???

Hate to be all negative, but I am always dissappointed by OC's pizza. I am always let down, wanting more, and uninspired by this regions bad Italian cooking.

Just save the money, but a $1.29 bag of dough from TJ's and toss it on the grill with some sauce, fresh mozz and basil. Chances are even if you are a horrible cook it will come out better then what you can get around here.

Gelato in south/central NJ

Hello, looking to have some gelato at my wedding and want to find something local. Any suggestions for favorites. The wedding is in Toms River NJ so about an hour or so from there. Thanks!

New Trader Joe's items

I tried the sweet potato fries. I did not like them They were like cheeto versions of baked sweet potatoes, it was very odd. My fiance like them however.
Also, not crazy about the curry chicken tenders in the refridge section. I thought about taking them back but bring in cooked chicken and a slimy bag is weird!

One month in the OC, some pleasant surprises

If I'm thinking of the right place, Antonuccis was awful. It looks like it hasnt been decorated in 50 years and the soup comes in those flimsy wood bowls that come from a cafeteria. yikes! Pizza is best avoided in OC unless you like the CPK version.
