Spotted - 3rd Napolean Bakery on 10th/Clement?
This morning as I turned the corner of 10th Ave/Clement, I passed a storefront (next to Coriya Hot Pot) that had familiar crimson red tined mooncake boxes under the windowsill of what I am guessing is third location for Napolean Bakery. The bakery was closed, so I couldn't buy mooncakes or confirm it's new location. I will stop by again this week.
When I was in Chinatown last week, I specifically zoned in on Napolean Bakery and bought my first box of 4 lotus, no yolk mooncakes. I've been in heaven all week up until last night when I ate the last 1/4 before I went to bed. I am impressed that mooncakes come at a good price. Not oily with a distinct, yet subtle lotus taste, which I enjoy. I am not sure if anyone has tried sweet candied lotus seeds (I think they from N. Vietnam) but mooncakes remind me of them.
Thank you ChowHound and Mr. Yimster for the recommendations!
Afternoon Tea at Top of the Mark?
thanks for pointing me to the difference between High tea and Afternoon Tea.
I do remember that the Lobby Lounge was a comfortable and romantic place to relax in the late afternoon. Unfortunately, I don't recall much about the food.
Afternoon Tea at Top of the Mark?
I am pretty sure that the Ritz-Carlton at 600 Stockton (it is very close to Top of the Mark) serves a good high tea in their Lobby Lounge. It has been awhile since I have had high tea there, but back in the days when I was at BofA it was given high marks. It could be worth checking out.
Bourdain: Love Him? Hate Him?
I am not sure about the child molester sarcasm or dark humor about kids. I would like to think Bourdain is a little better versed.
