Buffet Restaurants are not all bad, are they? Buffets are the triumph of quantity over quality. Bleh... |

Peanut Oil in Local Grocery Stores - nearlly extinct? I just bought a 24 pz bottle of peanut oil at my local Safeway (Canton neighborhood of Baltimore). Best as I can tell, peanut oil has a long shelf life. |

No tangerines this winter (2012-2013)? Don't know where you're located, but tangerines have been readily available at the Canton Safeway (on Boston St.) in Baltimore. And if the Canton Safeway has them, there isn't likely a shortage. |

Looking for good food northeast of Baltimore Middle River is pretty bleak food-wise.For high end food your daughter should become familiar with Baltimore. |

Dinner On Sunday - Near the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Cinghiale (bar side), Waterfront Kitchen. |

In Baltimore, neither the Prime Rib or Charleston require jackets anymore, but both suggest it. |
Why "with the exception of Baltimore"? |
Birthday Dinner on a Monday in Baltimore?? Cinghiale is definately open on Mondays. |

Challah is not the same thing as brioche. Challah is easy to make yourself if you're so inclined. With all the egg in the dough it's very easy to handle. |
That would be more North Baltimore suburbs, n'est-ce pas? |
Birthday Dinner on a Monday in Baltimore?? Baltimore doesn't seem to have as many restaurants closed on Mondays as a lot of other cities. What exactly are you looking for? |

Come on Man... or, I Don't Get It... Yes, tapas was bar snacks, essentially. It's trying to morph into something else in the States nowadays. |

Olive Grove is quite mediocre (although inexplicably popular with the locals). |
The sushi is decent, but not stellar. Definitely not a destination sushi location. |

Home cooked lunch near US 301 in Virginia? Oysters are usually good at Lowery's. It's not the kind of place that tends to reward adventurous ordering, though. Best to stick to simpler things. |

Home cooked lunch near US 301 in Virginia? Perhaps Lowery's in Tappahanock. |

Eat good food, then drink/schmooze in Baltimore? Cinghiale in Harbor East is a thought. We often eat at the bar there, and then you could hang out at the bar as long as you want. If they have them on the menu (availability is spotty) make sure you get the crispy olives. |

I assume you mean Mexican chorizo rather than Spanish, since you specified fresh. It's easily obtainable in Fells Point and Upper Fells Point. I've gotten at a place called La Guadalupana at Wolfe and Eastern, but it's been a number of years and I think the name of the place may have changed. |

Polish market in DC-Baltimore area? Sophia's (in Broadway Market) is great! |
Homemade pasta, sausage, food shops in Little Italy, Baltimore Trinacria is not in Little Italy (or even close). |
Pit Beef near Timonium/Lutherville? Timewise, Jake's probably isn't longer from downtown than Chap's, as I-83 could speed up much of the trip. |
New to Baltimore: where to get organic produce, etc The Broadway Market fishmonger is still around (I think the name is Sal's Seafood).. They have been relocated to the south building though, as renovation (I cringe) is going on in the north building. |

Aldo's in Little Italy is a restaurant week bargain. For appetizers (two of us) we got diver scallops with corn risotto, and a wonderful tuna carpaccio (I'm sorry the tuna carpaccio isn't on the regular menu). For entrees we got a Tuscan rib-eye with black truffle salt, and the best linguini |
Jack's has been gone from Corned Beef Row for years. Lennie's is where Jack's used to be. |
The best restaurant in Little Italy of the one's I've tried is Aldo's. It's expensive, though. |
My favorite waiter at Ikaros recommends Prima Foods. |
Lakis in Highlandtown (Baltimore)--a simple place on my rotation Are they open for breakfast in the morning? I need a new breakfast spot in that area since the demise of the Eastern House. |
I've never been to the Black Olive for dinner. The dinner menu is a superset of the lunch menu. |

Baltimore: Looking for the Grit and Soul of the City I loved Popeyes (and Churches) decades ago when I encountered them in Louisiana. The Baltimore area outlets I've been to in more recent times are underwhelming. |

Baltimore: Looking for the Grit and Soul of the City I was royally (no pun intended) bummed when Burke's turned into a Royal Farms. Burke's had character, something greatly lacking in a lot of places nowadays. If you knew how to order, you could do quite well at Burke's. And there's something to be said about a place where the bar is open at breakfast time. |
