RUB BBQ East Meadow No longer

Ha! I stated above on Dec 13th that this restaurant would be closed within 1 year. Looks like that was way too much time. Hopefully Singh gives up this space. East Meadow can use a nice pub/beer bar. Maybe something like that can move in there. Something like The Good Life in Massapequa Park,

Greek in Rockville Centre? Other places nearby?

i can say i'm not a fan of Greek Town. Don't know the other places you asked about.

Michael Psilakis MP TAVERNA coming to Irvington?

i guess your probably right, i'm in the insurance business, so business fires sometimes sound sketchy. By the way, I love MP Taverna. Food is great. I wonder what MP BBQ is?

Michael Psilakis MP TAVERNA coming to Irvington?

Day Boat Cafe burned to the ground.

This is an edit. I wrote the above first and then googled it. Where MP Taverna was in Roslyn, Day Boat Cafe did go up in flames. It looks like there was a Day Boat Cafe in Irivington too?!?!?! and that is where MP Taverna is going. Something sounds fishy to me.

Long Island recommendations requested (fish/chips, falafel, chicken caesar salad)

I really like the Fish and Chips at Canterbury Ales in Huntington Village. If your familiar with the Canterbury's in Oyster Bay, they are now unrelated restaurants with different menus.

Cotillion of Jericho

These are some of the things that I order most often that I can remember really enjoying. Menu is very large, I probably have more then 80% of it left to try. Speaking of which, does anybody have any idea what on the menu comes out on cast iron pan sounding like fajitas? I see people ordering it quite often, but I've never come across it myself.

-drums of heaven
-spicy corinader soup
-sweet corn soup
-chili chicken hakka style
-chicken in black bean sauce
-lamb szechuan
-chili garlic noodles
-Tarka Dal

Taco Trucks on Eastern Long Island? (North or South Fork)

no, of course not, bad placement on my part, I wish chowhound worked like every other message board website on earth where the posts are in order of time submitted. I was saying that in response to your comment asking "is a $5 taco is fancy?"

Cotillion of Jericho

i try to get to new chili and curry almost every month, and have been going for almost 2 years. unfortunately my wife doesn't have "asbestos mouth" and we order in the medium range which has nice heat, but nothing crazy for anyone who likes spicy. I wish I could go indian hot, but I like sharing dishes so I can eat a lot of things. The food is always terrific though And to answer your question below about how is it midweek, I went 2 weeks ago midweek for the first time and it was still packed and by the time we were leaving at about 7:30 there was a line out the door.

Taco Trucks on Eastern Long Island? (North or South Fork)

I'd say $5 tacos are ridiculous. if they are normal size tacos I would need somewhere between 4 to 6 to fill me. That is $20 to $30 in tacos. Crazy!

How does this place compare to New Chili & Curry?

RUB BBQ East Meadow No longer

it says its going to be Kansas City RUB, & that the spices which means recipes have changed. Lastly, they are adding cedar plank tacos and skirt steak to the menu. This is a BBQ place, not a grill. It is ridiculous, and leave it to Singh to ruin the place. It will be closed within the year, mark my words. If you don't believe me, how else have Singh managed to open and shut down a Steakhouse, a BBQ place, a seafood place, and even an Italian place(all in like a 3 year or so period) before somehow getting Paul Kirk and Company to team up to open RUB.

RUB BBQ East Meadow No longer

Of course this happens, it happened with Luzzo's in westbury and now RUB. What's next, Peter Lugers in Great Neck splitting from the Brooklyn one? Singh has already showed they can't run a BBQ joint.

PREMIUM SMOKED SABLE PLATE IN NASSAU COUNTY,NY

I work right near this place on Roslyn Rd. in Roslyn Hts. Never been inside but per their website I think they have what you want. http://www.andels.com/ordereze/default.aspx

Long Island Gyros

I went to Anthony's once. I thought the pizza was a waste of time. But the wings were amazing! They were the best tasting non-buffalo wings i've ever had. How were they so different when you had them. I picked up a Gyro once at Gyrolicious, i didn't like it at all. After reading Newsday's Feed Me write up last week I will have to try the Pork Gyro. But I didn't enjoy the lamb/beef whatsover.

I think I saw a Halal Truck in Levittown

I was driving by on Hempstead Turnpike last night around 11pm (i guess a little too fast) and in front of MJM shoes and Panera Bread, what appeared to look like a hot dog truck at first I could have sworn had multiple signs saying "Halal". Does anybody know anything about this? Is it there every saturday night?

Looking for: rainbow cookie cake (Long Island).

i'm glad it worked out for you, and in a selfish way i'm happy to read your comments that you went from East Meadow to williston park, to RVC, to Babylon for a cake. I'm not the only one driving all over the place for food. My family, friends and co-workers think i'm crazy when i do stuff like that.

Looking for: rainbow cookie cake (Long Island).

I've had the one from Front Street Bakery in Rockville Centre for both my wedding rehearsal dinner and my 30th birthday. Yum!

Hi Brian,

I'm glad I can ask for extra sauce. I'm not a pushy person, and we just dealt with being short on sauce. But our waitress definitely didn't offer a 2nd portion of it.

Where is that Outrage IPA coming from, I can't find any reference to Crossroads brewing on the internet, not even on Ratebeer.com

Good but not overly pricey place for lunch in Garden City?

I believe there is a La Bottega IN Roosevelt field now, above Burger King.

I've only been to one La Bottega and it was the one in Gaarden City South as well. I had one of the roast pork panini's and it was only ok. I remember it being dry. I don't remember what my wife ate but i remember both of our impressions of the place being the same. What i do specifically remember is that it took like 45 minutes for them to cook my panini. I just looked at their menu, and there are quite a few things that look good, and I'm sure i will try it again some day. But to compare what i remember about it to my experience at Press 195, there was no comparison.

press 195 RVC

I am sorry for all the stress I have caused. Yes the restaurant is called Press 195 and the location is in Rockville Centre, Nassau County Long Island. RVC is not part of the name of the restaurant. and i totally agree with Scott_R, a Long Island only board would be great, and probably draw more readers.

press 195 RVC

Went here friday night, it is located in the old Gabrielle's between the movie theatre and blue moon pizza. This is the 3rd location, the original being in Brooklyn and there is a location in Bayside. It's a panini restaurant, every panini is under $10 and they have 40 of them. Plus they have burgers, salads. Both paninis my wife and I had were big and delicious, the frites are big enough for 2 and delicious, but they do make you pay .75 cents for a sauce to dip it in which is a rip off especially considering its not enough for the amount of frites they give you. and the best part of all is they have a craft beer menu.

Dim Sum on Long Island?

i agree that Fortune Wheel is very good for Dim Sum. I also agree they cater to an Oriental Crowd, but I have always been treated very nicely at Fortune Wheel, and felt like I was an outsider the one time I went to The Orient. Considering they are so close to each other, and Fortune Wheel makes good food, I can't be bothered to go back to The Orient.

Burger Spot in Garden City

http://theburgerspotonline.com/home.html found this on newsday's website.

Phayathai in Ronkonkoma

hey, thanks for that link, i've never been able to find their menu. Obviously based on a menu you can't tell if the food is good or not, but it's definitely more like your standard Thai restaurant, and doesn't get into the things you see on Sripraphai's menu that you don't see on any other Thai restaurants menu here in LI.

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza to open mid July in Carle Place, LI --HURRAY!!!

maybe sushi park has changed, i havn't been in there in prob 2 to 2.5 years. But I've been to both Sushi Park and Minando twice. From my trips there was no comparison. I've had bad tasting stuff at Minando. The sashimi is just piles of fish cut into various weird shapes and sizes like they were using the leftover crap for the sashimi, meanwhile at Sushi Park it was cut up nicely and tasted alright. The rolls I remember having at sushi park had some flavor to them. I can't say the same about Minando. To be fair, I havn't been to Minando in an even longer amount of time. Its not like like i am searching out this low quality sushi(compared to some of my favorite places, like Kumo in plainview)
