Best mail-order source for Japanese whisky in USA?

Unless there are some specific bottles that you simply must have, I would try to satisfy your self with the 6 marks that are in the US now. The selection will more than double next year led by some very interesting special releases from Suntory.

Girasol Cocktail

When I designed this drink, it was made with a fino or a manzanillo and I really think it is better that way

Sunshine Bitters

Just a quick note, there is no reason to strain out the cardamom before adding the saffron. I just found that it needed a little longer than the saffron to infuse thoroughly.

Also, that is an insane amount of saffron to use for 1 cup of vodka. I use about a teaspoon for a liter. I doubt that it over infuses or anything, but that can get pricey.

Kumquat Caipirinha

I first saw this drink at the old Enircos in North Beach back when David Nepove (love you, mean it) ran the show with a gold muddle stick.

Deciphering German Wine

J,

I have found this system frustrating since I began learning about German wine (which I dig btw.) Not because of all the classifications, but because the classifactions do not seem to be completely reliable as a description of how the wine tastes. Rather, they seem to me to be a code of how producers and buyers talk to each other.

Too bad they can't make it easier.

Garbo Gargle Cocktail

The way I learned this drink was with sweet vermouth instead of dry and no port. This recipe looks like it might be more authentic, but having just made them side by side....mine is much easier to drink.

Also, I like it better (and any drink for that matter) with Absinthe instead of Creme de Menthe.

Monkey Gland

Monkey,
You seem to know your history, check up on your current events. We are blessed with a number of authentic and fully legal Absinthe hitting the market right now. This drink is a crime without real Absinthe and good Grenadine (Norester knows his/her stuff).

Bourbonella

Dammit, I didn't want to like because of the sillines of the name, but I just stirred one up (with Buffalo Trace and orange curacao)...quite easy to drink.

Pegu Club Cocktail

JK is 1000% right about the proper Pegu club. I am all for riffing classic recipes with new ingredients, but this is just a travesty.
