Jerusalem Garden in A2 moving, I don't know how to feel

I simply don't understand all the love for Jerusalem Garden. This would be a tasty, cheap option in many college towns. But JG's version of Middle Eastern food is sub-par for southeastern Michigan.
That said, I get the reference to the loss of Drake's. Not unlike my nostalgia at the closing/move of Blimpy Burgers.

Det/Mich Peruvian food

There are a few Andean (inspired at least) items on the menu at Lena in Ann Arbor. That said, I've never eaten there.

Egg tofu in Washtenaw County/Detroit area?

Egg tofu comes in a tube--like a tiny torpedo. Should be readily available at Chinese markets in SE Michigan.

Veggie options in Detroit and etc...

Seva's is reopening its Ann Arbor location. This time on the westside--in the same strip mall as Zingerman's Roadhouse.

Mario Batali opening restaurant in Ann Arbor?

And what up with that dumb Buzzfeed list about Ann Arbor as "The Best Food Town in All The Land"? Maybe if "the land" is Washtenaw County.

Mario Batali opening restaurant in Ann Arbor?

Selo/Shevel closed a few months ago . . . prime spot for something.
God, I had a unbelievably bad meal at Argiero's last week. My first time there in 18 years; I guess I stayed away for a reason. I wouldn't say no to a Batali meal!

Tried Sidetrack Bar & Grill in Ypsilanti, MI...

True that. While I order on the light side, I never consider the bites from my BF's burger at the Sidetrack special. Bad? No. But not memorable. Not worth the hype. I stick to the chili (good, but nothing special), salad. and I can easily be convinced to share the fried mushrooms--these are a juicy, flavorful dish at the Sidetrack. Worth every calorie.
For a burger in Ypsi, the answer is simple: The Wurst Bar. The meat there is remarkable & topping options are unique. (Mr Peanut, The Southerner). The only problem at The Wurst Bar is that the sausage options tend to call out to me more. But, hell yeah, their hamburgers are very good.

Blimpy Burger (Ann Arbor) update

Some people measure their kid's growth with pencil marks on a doorframe. In my case it was how many BB patties he could eat. As a toddler, he started with a single. The BB promise of a tootsie-pop encouraged him to eat up. Over the years he made it to a quint. At 17, he's grown enough to know that's not so smart in the long run--he last had a quad.
I love this place--what can I say?

Blimpy Burger (Ann Arbor) update

Some times an eatery so embodies a social scene/zeitgeist, it becomes more than a "business" to the patrons. Thus the support. (If there was crowdsourcing to revive Drake's or Eastern Accents, I would so be there.)

No doubt that explained the vegans who supported The Lunch Room's launch. To me, Blimpy's is a piece of an old, pre-chain Ann Arbor that I would like to see resuscitated. Thus I pledged 10 bucks (with a $10 cert for an eventual meal)--showing my BB love.

Mulefoot Gastro Pub--Imlay City, MI

I read some yelp reviews--overwhelmingly positive. Found out about it via fact that they're serving Mighty Good coffee (from AA).
I've always wanted to explore the Thumb--Mulefoot should help turn this idea into a reality when (if?) spring arrives.

Blimpy Burger (Ann Arbor) update

Was everyone so sour on the crowdsourcing undertaken by THE LUNCH ROOM to get their site up and running last year? (Didn't Tio's do likewise to assist in their reopening?)

Blimpy Burger (Ann Arbor) update

So the family that owns Blimpy Burgers is hoping to reopen (in spring?). They are crowdsourcing to help with start-up costs.

Re San Fu, I can't help you (I eat take-out Chinese on rare occasions these days.) It is a pretty standard menu.

Asian Delivery Options in Ann Arbor

My teen son & I concurred recently that San Fu remains consistently solid. Very good hot & sour soup.
San Fu is in the South Main Market so will certainly deliver your way.

My other old standbys (Lucky Kitchen, Gourmet Garden) have declined--overly sweet/greasy.

What Lake do you live by & eat near?

Given our Board name, I love the idea of this post! Most often, however, I eat canned tuna from Italy.

I would love updates on Vellum, now that its been open for a while. The menu looks very appealing to me, but the prices make this a splurge for my budget.
Also will my teenage foodie son feel comfortable here?

Today I tried one of the house soups: chorba. Delicious, hearty melange with tender beef chunks, veggies, garbanzos & some magical spices. A new comfort food.

And El Harissa will be open on Xmas.

Taco truck--JAX

@the corner of New Berlin & Heckscher, had delightful tacos de carnitas, carne asada, and luscious black beans. The lovely mother-daughter team also serves cafe cubano. Parked alongside was a guy selling boiled peanuts.
Made for a great impromptu lunch after visiting Pumpkin Hill State Park.
