Frank @ AGO - gone downhill?

I must say, that i am a regular foodie. I have only been to FRANK twice, and both times i have dined on the perfectly balanced, hearty summer cioppino. The fish was cooked to perfection. I cannot stress that further. For a starter i had the smoked whitefish rillette. My friends indulged in the beef brisket burger, grilled cumbrae farms skirt steak, which looked delish. I had a nibble off their plates. YUM YUM all around. Our tabled skipped dessert, so I cannnot comment on that. So far my fave dish has been consistent.

Cioppino

The restaurant 'FRANK' in the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) was deliscious. I would give it a try.

Chimichanga on Yonge near Eg

I dined here this past weekend, and the Chorizo Burritto ($17.99) was delisious. The runny egg was a bit of a challenge for me to dig into, but I managed to get the full experience. It was surprisingly tasty.

COMPLAINTS:
- The service was AWFUL!, there were only 3 other couples there for lunch, and it took forever to place our orders, and to get our meals to the table

- Usually restaurants serve bread once your order is placed, NOT HERE, You are chrged for a measly bowl of cold tortillas and salsa. I wouldnt ccomplain about this normally, but if you are expected to wait 15min before you place your order and another 25 min to be served, then the least they can do is give you a bowl of chips to squash those hunger pains.

I have been told that the service is downright questionable on the weekends (esp on Sat).

For parties of six: 15% gratuity automatically added, for parties over 6: 18% is added.
I usually leave my server 20% for great service, but if the service is not there when you visit, then i suggest talk to the manager.

In short, this place has great food, but bad service.

WANTED! Indian Curry recommendation anyone?

Babar, this place was fully renovated and is absolutely fantastic. The Host on Prince Arthur is #1 in my books. Babar is a close second. Both restaurants have a great relaxed atmosphere.

best burgers in T.O.

I know this may sound strange, but the best burger i had in this city has to be the Bacon-Cheese burger from Swiss Chalet. I am 100% serious. I was totally forced to order this burger by a friend, as he guarenteed that I will love it. Mind you, we only visit the one in Markham off Woodbine Ave North of Steeles.

I dare you to try it, u will be toally surprised!

Now other than Swiss Chalet, I love Hero Burgers, they have the best gourmet toppings.
The 6 oz With Peameal Bacon and cheese is absolutely delectable.

I have tried the burger shack, and their burgers are pretty good, next time no fries or onion rings. They were a tad too greasy and distracted us from the actual taste of the burger.

Dangerous Dan's Diner, from what I hear have a great burger, apparently voted the best in T.O... Will try in the near future.

Bon appetite!

Looking for a great Vietnamiese restaurant in North York

I know!!! I was so surprised by this, and still cannot believe it. I will try that place at Keel and Wilson. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. I guess there is nothing central. I live in Hoggs Hollow, not too much around there. We usually have to o downtown for some good Pho or Korean :(

First time in Toronto - what are the must trys?

Yeah, agree, I love it, but many may find it odd. A must have though in my book is the butter chicken roti at Gandi. AMAZING!!!

Tropical Desires: Worst West Indian restaurant in Toronto

I am part west indian and we have had barbadian and jamacian curries. none of which ever tasted like that of Tropical desires. the brand of curries vary with their chosen spices. but over all they seem similar. Thai, east indian and other south asian curries are polar opposites from west indian cooking. Nonetheless, this place is by far the worst place i have ever eaten in. There is an overwhelimg response to how terrible this place is. Never tasted their jerk chicken, and maybe its the bomb. But we will never take the chance unfortunately. Our office was looking for a go to west iindian place since there is none around. Our offices hold hundresds of employess, and so far I have heard nothing but bad reviews about this place. cannot event give this place 1 star.

Looking for a great Vietnamiese restaurant in North York

We are in dire need of a great recommendation for a Vietnamiese restaurant in North York. North of Eglinton and close to Yonge street. WE have ventured out to a few around Yonge and Sheppherd, but were only disapointed. So far everything pales in comparison to Pho Hung, which is out of our way. All suggestions welcome!

Tropical Desires: Worst West Indian restaurant in Toronto

lol. Sorry. I did have a bit a situation at Burrito Boyz once, but then a coworker bought me another burrito a while back which turned it around. I love that place now. All in all, no place is perfect, my point is that this new place : tropical Desires was just awful. the number of complaints that I am hearing around my workplace seem to be all the same. The taste alone will shock u.

Their Burritos are the BEST. We always get the Halibut. The most exspensive on the menu, but worth it.

Tropical Desires: Worst West Indian restaurant in Toronto

This must be the wose west indian restaurant in Toronto. We were tired of waiting in line at Burrito Boys, even though those burritos a absolutely the best in town, when we saw this new roti shop. Usually west indian restaurants all share the same recipes, however, this one : Tropical Desires at 224 Adelaide Street West, did not. I have no idea what they are thinking. We ordered 10 rotis. 8 chicken and 2 goat. They were all awful! our 8 chicken rotis were full of chicken carcas. Just not a one here and there, about 1/2 a cup of bones and cartilage! Which amounted to 1/4 of the size of the roti. The taste was also a major issue, the goat was just as vulgur. I have never in my life had something so disgusting that I couldn't even swallow one bite! I was not alone. all 10 of us had the same uncontrollable convulsion. We all ditched our meals and headed out for something else. From what I hear around here, we are not alone. I guess next time, long lines mean better food. If you do want to try this place, i suggest you eat at the restaurant, just so that they can see your reaction. Maybe only then will you get your money back.
