BBQ in southington, CT

Wondering if anyone has been to Smokin with Chris in Southington? Looking to go out with 2 other couples casual night out. Other suggestions greater Hartford area casual good food good beer establishments?

anyone try Taste of Hartford yet?

We went in a large group on Friday to Costa Del Sol. It was my first time going, really enjoyed the atmosphere, the place was very busy. I felt the staff were very attentive and personable. I ordered the potato onion torte, steak and flan off of the TOH menu. Everything was beautifully prepared, plated and delicious. Shared with others at the table who ordered the salad, seafood paella and rice pudding. All great value for $20.12. I would go back in a minute!

Help us with ideas for one overnight trip - 2 hour radius from Hartford

We ended up at Noah's on Saturday evening, had a wonderful experience. Food was delicious, mine was not very hot, but still good - pumpkin soup and sesame scallops; SO had the pot roast which was wonderful. Enjoyed the afternoon at the Jonathan Edwards winery, wonderful patio to take in the gorgeous setting, loved the entire day. Thanks for the suggestions

Review of trip to Mystic & Stonington

Thanks so much to everyone for weighing in on suggestions for our anniversary! We enjoyed a truly fantastic day yesterday. We started at Jonathan Edwards for wine tasting, tour and picnic. We enjoyed the Stone Table Red as well as the Merlot. My SO also bought the Estate Chardonnay, I liked it, didn't love it. What a beautiful setting to have a picnic, got very crowded about 2:30-3:00, glad we were there earlier. For dinner we decided to go to Noah's in Stonington, had reservations for 7:30 p.m. - was sorry that as we got to the town early there was only one store open for browsing. Noah's was full, loved the atmosphere, service was attentive, helpful. SO ordered the pot roast and loved it! I started with the pumpkin soup - very thick, delicious, slightly lukewarm vs hot, but still good and the sesame scallops - good, again lukewarm but good. All in all wonderful experience. enjoyed the day out very much and would return again. Store owner we met also suggested Water Street Cafe, and anew restaurant on the water....."....Dog..." can't remember right now. Thanks again for your help!

Help us with ideas for one overnight trip - 2 hour radius from Hartford

I posted this awhile back to help with the planning, and we are finally going next weekend! We decided on Mystic using hotel points at the Mystic Marriott (in Groton) I have been looking at the previous posts for the Mystic/shoreline area, as well as the CT wine trail information. Our tentative plan is a picnic lunch at Jonathan Edwards and Maugle vineyards, maybe shopping, then dinner out - thinking Brassiere Pip, or Liv's Oyster Bar - what about the S&P Oyster Bar, or anything in Mystic downtown?

Looking for a casual, health conscious (but not *too*) dinner in Farmington Valley or West Harford?

I wonder if Tapas would be a good fit, either in W. Hartford or Bloomfield, also I thought I saw Naples pizza in Farmington doing a gluten-free pizza (Rte 4), both would be fine with a toddler

We have squeaked out babysitting coverage for one night in October to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary, but now are stuck where to go??? Have been reading the boards about the CT wine trail, or maybe something in the Berkshires, or even Newport RI. We don't want to spend too much time in the car, but would love to do something foodie, different - be able to be outside enjoy the Fall - any and all suggestions appreciated, thx!~

Food and Wine Event - Portland Harbor

Just got an email from the Visitor's Bureau about an event Oct 21-23rd - Does anyone know about this event? Worth the drive from CT? Thanks!

Log Cabin Restaurant , Clinton Ct.

We go every year when we stay at the beach for a week. There is a TON of food, the meal comes with salad, pasta served family style and then a huge entree. The food is pretty good, always a long wait if you go at dinner time. This year I think we were there by 4:30 with no wait. The service is good, it would appear a lot of locals come by. It certainly is not fine dining, but good with kids, if you want a huge lunch the next day.

Looking for great grinder rolls in the Hartford area

Salute, Hartford versus Barcelona, W Htfd

Interested in going out last night, stuck between wanting to try Salute or return to Barcelona. Ended up back at Barcelona, was not disappointed, great small plates and 1/2 off bottles of wine every Sunday night, they also do a pig roast every Sunday which we did not partake in; Ate outside, enjoyed the shrimp/garlic dish, chicken and beef empanadas, potato torte and an outstanding watermelon salad with feta and micro celery (have to find that!) All in all delicious.
Any feedback re: Salute? Didn't find anything on the board yet? Menu looks good

Places I wish were Good...in Hartford Area-CT

This subject made me laugh, so true! Have to say went to Damon's last week with some friends, not overly impressed with the service, or the noise level, burger was OK, other apps not so great. I can't really get into J. Timothy's wings, I think I like mine less dry rub. the other 2 restaurants I tried once but so unimpressed have no desire to go back - Besitos for lunch - meh, and Peppercorns for some overpriced dinner - made no impression.

restaurants near Water Fire in Providence

We just went to waterfire a few weekends ago, we ended up at Luxe Burger, which was really great, loved the atmosphere, great music, wish we stayed a little longer. After waterfire we went to Parkside? I believe, lots of dishes were rotisserre - pretty good, I enjoyed my chix, my dining partners loved their fish, but not their seafood pasta, that had a cool vibe too

Suggestions for Farmington Valley Italian, or anything else??

We have plans in a few weeks with 2 other couples for dinner, interested in finding something new in the Farmington Valley, maybe Italian. Something not too expensive, have to go home and pay the babysitter! :) We've been to Joe Pizza. Looking for good food, good drinks, casual - even not Italian if it sounds good. Thanks!

Dinner/Drinks for a group after Waterfire-Providence

Seems to be a lot of suggestions for Providence around Brown - I'm interested in places for a group after Waterfire in June - going for the PC reunion and will have a group of 30-somethings looking for casual but good food and drinks in and around waterfire. we're staying downtown for 2 nights - any thoughts on walking distance for breakfast too? I did check the history of the board, but seems to be from 2008 for Providence lists, etc. Thanks so much!
