Tipple and Brine...has anyone eaten there?

There were just the 2 of us. Chef's choice of oysters (12 for $34), 2 cocktails each and we shared the uni on toast (meh) Cauliflower (which was the highlight by far, really yummy) and roast chicken, not great. With T and T around $150.

Had dinner there last week. To me, I'd rather spend the $150 or so elsewhere. Way too much money for this type of meal. Not bad, just not worth it.

Maude in Beverly Hills. Any early reports?

You just nailed my exact sentiment. I too, attended the artichoke meal. Without explanations, I would not have known what the theme was. That being said, it didn't matter, as the food was fantastic regardless.

Maude in Beverly Hills. Any early reports?

I agree with you...It's not fun. I called both with my land line (which is slow to re-dial) and also my cell, which ended up being the winner. Must be a "better" way!

Maude in Beverly Hills. Any early reports?

I called today to Maude, beginning at 10:00am. At 10:15 I got through and made my Rhubarb reservation for May. Yah! This will be my second visit. I doubt that it will be this easy every month, though

Vintage Enoteca

Went last night. http://vintageenoteca.com/

It is a wine bar with small plates of delicious foods. I can see why you think it's called Vino. Anyways, lovely meal. Shared all. Blue Crab, chicken liver pate and hummus Bruschetta. Moved on to Salmon Tartar followed by Cauliflower Gratin, Brussels-bacon-truffle flatbread and lastly a roasted beet salad with homemade ricotta. We shared a wonderful bottle of Chardonnay. Would I return, yes....

Yotsuya anyone?

Thanks Kevin...I've been to many of the top sushi restaurants in our fair city and Zo in West L.A. included. I didn't care of the service or attitude there, but have yet to try his new one in DTLA.

Yotsuya anyone?

We took the leap last night, and gave Yotsuya a try. Arrived for our 7:30 reservation on time. We were the only 2 in the restaurant from start to finish. Masa seemed to have a cold, but mentioned his allergies were acting up. Oh well....anyways, we entrusted him to our meal. Without counting, probably a dozen or so sushi items. Very straight forward, with no rolls and such. A couple of the fishes were new to me, but quite tasty. In fact all were quite tasty. Damage for the omakase along with 3 medium size bottles of sake shared between the 2 of us was $275 included tip. Would I return, maybe.

Yotsuya anyone?

Thinking of branching out from my sushi rut and trying something new. Has anyone been lately? Thanks!

Sol Y Luna

So we did end up here last night. The "skinny" margarita, albeit strong on lime flavor, actually had a nice kick of tequila. Hubs and I ordered the fish tacos. Not nearly as good as I remembered them to be. Re-fried beans were very thin an un-appealing. The table side guac was the evenings saving grace. Very well made. Would I return, probably not.

2014 - Best Sushi Omakase

Just ate at Sushi Kimagure Ike a couple nights ago. For $85, it is pretty hard to beat. Delish!

Inexpensive NO-frills great Italian in Northeast or Eastside L.A. (Like Alejo's)

I too, am a huge fan of Alejo's. Been going there for 20+ years. Lasagne is quite wonderful too. I will be curious if anyone helps out with other locations. I live in Sherman Oaks, and there isn't anything like Alejo's really.

Asanebo question

From what I understand...there are 3 omakase's A-B-C. Separated by amount of food and price.....C is $160 and up, what ever "up"means.

Asanebo question

Greetings hounds...I am considering going to Asanebo next week for the "C" omakase. Typically, I always enjoy sitting at the bar. Is there someone I should request, or would I be just as happy with whomever? Anything else you think I should know, would be welcome. Excited to try this one star experience. Thanks!

Is Babita really worth it?

Interesting discussion on Babita. I too, have opinions. I have gone to Babita for years and mostly enjoy the food. Is it worth the drive, not anymore for me. Roberto (owner) is a hoot and quite engaging to speak with. His wife is a lovely woman. Typically I order the chiles en nogada as his is the best around. My issue has been and still is the service. Most nights, the lovely wife is the only person working the floor. To drive this far from Sherman Oaks and spend easily over 2 hours on dinner, is too long for what you are getting. I don't mind spending several hours on a meal, but I need to be served and well taken care of. I wish he'd move closer in and higher a waiter and bus-person. I'd go back in a flash.
