best steak in n.y.c?

I'd go with MarkJoseph over Ben & Jack's.

What is/was Tango?

The slogan, "What's the word? Thunderbird. How's it sold? Nice and cold. What's the price? Forty twice."

Also, I used to drink Tango in college. I went to Univ. of Michigan in the late 80s, and it was sold at all the fine liquor stores patronized by laid off auto workers in Ypsilanti.

Goodburger, Five Guys and Shake Shack

Thanks hotdoglover. I've driven past Joe's a bunch of times and always wondered. Syd's unfortunately closed before I got there, but I've heard tales of it. Ever try the Italian hot dog place on Morris (Junior's?) in Elizabeth? Is it any good?

Goodburger, Five Guys and Shake Shack

1) Shake Shack
2) Good Burger. Good Burger's one advantage is that there's more of them and the lines are shorter. Admittedly, that's not what you asked, but when pressed for time, it's a consideration.

Five Guys is overrated and not worth the time. I live in Manhattan, and work in Union, NJ, a burger wasteland. There's a Five Guys near my office, and I'd rather eat Wendy's.

To the poster who talked about Minetta Tavern - yes, it's better than Shake Shack, but it's $26. That's not really a fair comparison.

Shake Shack
Madison Ave and E 23rd St, New York, NY 10010

Minetta Tavern
113 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012
