ISO myoga
Give Taro Fish a call. They usually have a bud or two lying around in the fridge, although I'm not sure you'll find them in the winter (myoga is usually harvested in the summer and in autumn)
midnight wifi cafe near Greenwood, dinner near Avenue Rd x Lawrence and Cherry St, lunch near Finch x McCowan
I need help with four locations: near Greenwood TTC station (Friday late night), near Avenue Road x Lawrence Avenue West (weekday dinner), near Cherry St. T&T (weekday night), and near Finch Avenue East x McCowan Road (weekday lunch).
My friend is moving into an apartment near Greenwood TTC station on Friday night but the landlord will not let her use the internet until Monday morning for some obscure reason, so she wants to know if there is a 24/7 internet cafe in the area, or a cafe or pub with free wi-fi that is open 24 hours, or at least until midnight or so. I said I will take her to a Starbucks on Saturday morning, but she says she needs to contact someone in Japan on Skype on Friday at around 11:30pm. If I cannot find anything I will just have her stay at my home and let her surf or skype or whatever, but thought I'd ask you first.
Her main goal is getting internet access along with something to drink but she is a tea drinker so good leaf tea is always appreciated.
Second request is, she, I and one other friend are attending a meeting near Avenue Rd and Lawrence W on a weekday. We should be done at around 7 or 8pm, so we want to eat in the area afterwards. My friends are looking for "something different", they say. More specifically, they said...
- no seafood (they get plenty of that in Japan)
- not Asian, not North American or Hawaiian
- not French, Italian, or other "western" cuisine
- eastern Europe, Middle Eastern, African would be interesting
- open to fusion, or other "creative" stuff
- nothing too expensive (max. $120-130 pp incl. tax & tip, alcohol excluded)
- cheap is fine but not take out
walking distance (maybe 20 mins max?) from the intersection is ideal but they are okay with taking a cab if there is a worthwhile place that has "something different".
Third request is, they will be going to the Cirque du Soleil show near Cherry Street T&T (forgot to ask which date) and wants to eat before the 8pm show.
They want to eat close to the Cirque location, walking distance if possible, but is there any decent restaurants in the area? I've always thought of the area as industrial and not touristy at all.
They will do any cuisine, eat-in desired but will take-out if they hav eto. Main thing is that they are not late for the show.
Last request is, we are looking for a weekday lunch spot near Finch x McCowan at a non-fastfood place. They are okay with anything other than seafood and Asian cuisine, although, "something different" is always preferred.
Please help... I am a seafood lover and not familiar with these areas.

Shockingly dissapointed with Sushi Marche
Drove by Mikado today and saw a sign saying "Sushi Marche II" a couple of buildings down.
Do they have or are they opening up a new location? so close to Mikado???
ISO 3.78- to 5-litre juice/fruit drink/unsweetened tea in plastic jugs
Thank you, I don't have membership so I will ask my friend to see if he can get me some.
Sun-dried tomatoes
I used to get them from Highland Farms at Kennedy and Ellesmere.

ISO 3.78- to 5-litre juice/fruit drink/unsweetened tea in plastic jugs
This is an odd request, I know...
I will be needing 3.78, 4, or 5 litre containers for a school project.
They will be filled with water and kids will be throwing in paint, glue, sand, and other gunnky-gooey stuff.
Criteria:
- they need handles (like these

http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/17084.15-204_4.jpg
but not like these
http://img.21food.com/userimages/elenaven/elenaven$1821180.jpg
http://anthonyhad2.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/maple_syrup.jpg
- they must have mouths wider than 1.5 inch (the wider the better) and tight sealing tops, preferably screw tops
- they can be glass but plastic would be preferred, recyclable plastic would be a plus
- they must be transparent or semi-transparent, not tinted... well, clear enough so that the children can see what's happening inside
- they must be rectangular or otherwise "flat" body
I first checked Canadian Tire and a few other places for water containers but those plastic water tanks were so expensive at around $10-15 or more. Maybe because they are food grade plastic? I don't know but a bit beyond my budget... I need to get 8-10 and don't want to spend more than $100.
So I decided to go to grocery stores, thinking I should be able to find juice in such containers for less than $10 a gallon, maybe $5, and I get to drink juice.
However, orange juice containers were opaque, apple juice/cider and soy milk containers were either round or square and not too flat, and other juice containers didn't have handles.

So far I've only found Nestea, and I'm not a fan of sweetened tea.
http://www.grocerycheckout.com/cdn/productimages/083900003449_187x_.jpg
If I can't find anything I'll do Nestea but I thought I'd ask here first to see if people can help me with my situation.
They can be juice, fruit punch, lemonade, unsweetened tea or coffee, maybe even salsa (I believe President's Choice sells salsa in those plastic jugs... but I think they come in 1 or 1.5 litres, not 4).
I will have them thoroughly washed prior to use but I still don't want to use motor oil or wind washer fluid containers; I want to stick with food/beverage containers just to be safe.
Any ideas?
ISO Lorina lemonade
Just today I was at T&T on Cherry Street, and lo and behold, they have 3-4 flavours of Lorina!
I never paid attention to the beverages section at T&T's so I don't know
when they started carrying them but they were $4.25/750ml bottle... cheaper than at Pusateri's for sure.

I was at the Yonge x Steeles location this morning; it's only a block or so away from the old location, on the west side.
I was there at around 10:30ish and was told that the store opened at 12.
Too bad I had another appointment and couldn't stay there till noon to pick up a jar of kaktugi:(

Thank you everyone, I was able to pick them up at Pusateri's.
and ylsf, thank you for the heads up; I also decided to try Efferve:)

Where can I get a bottle (swing top) of Lorina sparkling lemonade in the GTA?
A search lead me to Mr. Case, but I want to try one bottle of each flavour, not one case of each.
Info appreciated.
Christmas cake
I am not a big cake eater myself, but I remember some of my friends saying good things about La Bamboche near Yonge and Eglinton, and from their website labamboche.ca it looks like they have Christmas cakes. They claim to be a Japanese-inspired French patisserie (which does not mean they add green tea or bean paste to every cake), which could be somewhat different from your typical North American offerings.

Do they still have the hayashi rice as their ura-menu?
I had a client in that area a couple of years ago and used to stop by for a takeout when they had the hayashi, which I prefer over their curry.
Lalibela Ethiopian on Danforth near Donlands - Anyone tried it?
Many people seem to enjoy Dukem but I personally prefer Rendez-Vous, my favourite Ethiopian place for the last 4-5 years. It isn't that Dukem is bad or anything, I simply find Rendez-Vous more flavourful, and I prefer their blend of spices.
I ate at Dukem, Meskerem, Wazema, Lalibela, Ethiopian House, Addis Abbaba, Queen of Sheba, Nazareth and maybe a handful more... and, Rendez-Vous is my all time favourite. I usually go to Ethiopian for meat, so I do not know how the vegetarian dishes compare, though.
However, my experience at Lalibela was not overly negative (certainly passable) to the extent of saying no this deal... I won't choose this place over another for a full price though :)

They have a WagJag deal now where you get $30 worth of food for $10.
(It's under Scarborough offer for some reason)
Although it's not my favourite place 66% off is too good to pass:)

Buying Bottles
Macedo Wine on Dufferin north of Bloor has a few selections of beer and wine bottles.
Lunch in Georgetown
Yes, I will definitely have at least one lunch there; everyone on this thread http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/710344
seems to love the place.
Lunch in Georgetown
I will be in Georgetown on business on November 13, 20, and 27 and would like to hear any recommendations for some nice lunch place.
Any cuisine, dine-in or take out.
Must be open on Saturdays, and must take debit or credit card.
Free parking a plus.
Search brought up two threads:
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/710602 - discusses mostly dinner
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/710344 - I'll probably check this place out, but not sure if I want to stick to one place three Saturdays in a row. Variety is always better.
Any reviews for Curry and Roti Restaurant
No, I'm not in that area often.
I will be working there in December for about two weeks so I thought if the place is good enough maybe I'll buy a couple of Wagjag vouchers to save on my meals while I work there.
Of course, if ACR Roti and Doubles is far superior, then I'm okay with paying non-discounted price for better food:)
Any reviews for Curry and Roti Restaurant
I realize this is an old thread but they have a Wagjag deal (chicken roti and small app or dinner roti for $4.50) and I wanted to know if any CHs have visited this place recently.
I wanted to check out their menu but all I can see is Appetizers; clicking on the "Lunch&Dinner" doesn't seem to work...

ISO BetterBottle
Oh and I already called BetterBottle and went through the list of distributors in Ontario with them, but the closest I could get was Burlington, which is 2hrs drive for me.
I just thought there may be someone out there closer who may not be their distributor but happens to carry the product.
ISO BetterBottle
Where can I buy BetterBottle fermentation bottles?
Their website lists Village Wine Supplies and R J Spagnols as distributors
but Village Wine says they stopped distributing and RJ Spagnols has not gotten back to me
(left them a voice message).
Anywhere in the GTA would be great.
Izakaya Ju @ J-Town?
Does anyone what kind of drinks they serve?
Their website says they now serve alcohol but they don't have a menu.
New Izakaya joint @ Yonge & Eg
Searched on this board and seeing FIN receiving mixed reviews, I am wondering if it's worth buying the $15 for $30 deal at TeamSave. Their FAQ says the deal does not cover tax&alcohol, so that's already a big drawback for an izakaya.
Any thoughts?
Lucy Restaurant
Well at first I thought it hadn't opened because the card said "Grand opening", but when we were looking at the card a man came up and said "Good food. Delicious" and smiled (he didn't speak much English) so I thought maybe it was already open, maybe, and they had an "official" opening on Sep. 10 or something.
I wish I could read Ethiopian...
Lucy Restaurant
I am not sure if this is the right board to post, but here goes...
I was at this jazz event on the Danforth yesterday and received a postcard/mini poster.
It says Lucy Restaurant, Grand Opening, September 10 and 11... and the rest is in Ethiopian.
Apparently the restaurant is somewhere around Coxwell and Danforth (where we had the jazz night), but I have absolutely no idea what else is written on it.
Does anyone know what they are offering on Sep 10&11, or read Ethiopian so that if I post a scan of the postcard can tell me what is written on it?
Couldn't find any review on the restaurant.

Sour Green Tea (powder)???
The other day I purchased a bag of "Green Tea Powder" at Ten Ren's Tea (http://www.tenren.com/greenteapowder.html) to make some cold matcha drink.
I poured the powder, added water, sugar, drank about 1/3 and forgot about it.
I left it at room temperature for maybe 2-3hrs.
After I came back I thought I'd throw it out, but decided to take a sip to see what it would be like. It was sour.
Is this normal?
I've never experimented leaving hot/cold green tea drink in room temperature with other green tea powder or green tea drink mix products, let alone regular matcha, so I cannot tell if it is simply oxidization doing its job or if something is wrong with the quality of this particular product.
I would not have been surprised if it became bitter, or lost its flavour, for example. But stale tea becoming sour? that was confusing.
Given the price I was not expecting a great deal from this green tea powder, as in I was not trying to use this for a tea ceremony or anything, but if this turning sour business is not normal, I would still like to take it back to the store for an explanation.
Input appreciated.
