I have heard the owner of Vihn Loi Tofu (Sherman Way near Reseda) accommodate special requests many times. And the food is terrific!

FARMSHOP charging .30 for paper bag. Every other market in area charging 10 cents

Yes, and I wash my bags every couple of weeks. Transitioning to reusable bags is a habit that takes time. Seven years ago, I never would have brought a bag with me to the store. But I married someone who set a good example, and I remember my bags about 80% of the time. Not perfect, but trying. I am also willing to hand-carry 4-5 items if I forgot my bag.

I'm relieved to find other people who can find the same foods both disgusting and awesome :)

Steak 'N Shake coming to Santa Monica

I'm not a burger person, but I always make it a habit to indulge in a Steak n Shake milkshake while visiting relatives in the Midwest. YUM!

Not exactly a "restaurant," but Handsome Roasters lives up to its name :-)

One week in Santa Fe-BLD suggestions, please!

Thank you, silverfoodie. We loved the Kakawa pinon caramels and the cherry truffles. The chocolate chili ice cream got even spicier after it sat in the freezer a couple of days...yum. The only thing we wouldn't order again was the chili brownie. It was gluten-free (what were we thinking?) and quite dry.

One week in Santa Fe-BLD suggestions, please!

Thank you, Ninrn. We also really liked Rancho de Chimayo. We were getting pretty hungry after the drive from Taos (longer than expected) and were pleased with the carne adovada and the sopaipilla relleno. The staff was sweet and the patio dining was comfortable The only "miss" was the prickly pear lemonade, which was really, really tart. We would definitely go back!

Thanks again for the Frito Pie recommendation. My partner just had one for dinner and LOVED it. The spice level started off moderate and accumulated....perfect! The employee was very friendly, allowing me to take pics with a smile. There was also something loveably kitchy about eating dinner in a five-and-dime.

Glad to see a Jagerhaus nod! This is one place that my whole family agrees on. Breakfasts and sandwiches are unique and tasty. And call me a cheeseball, but I like the over-the-top Bavarian decor. Nice folks running the place.

One week in Santa Fe-BLD suggestions, please!

Hello friends:

My family and I are spending one week in Santa Fe, plus a day each in Albuquerque and Taos.

Any recommendations are highly appreciated! We are not looking for anything upscale, just good, unique food. We live in Los Angeles and have lots of Mexican food, so distinctly Southwestern would be wonderful.

We also love snacks, desserts and food stalls/trucks.

Also looking for take-out food for our condo and the opera.

THANK YOU!

Walking out on a restaurant meal

Good for you! If customers are not going to use common sense regarding kids, etc. then the management should look out for their patrons. Bravo, sir!

Palm Springs Area: Any Chow-worthy places???

My recommendation is old news, but...Cheekys! I eat breakfast there every other week and never grow tired of the rotating menu. Last week I had an amazing breakfast sandwich: crispy croissant filled with brussels sprouts and eggs. Sounds funky but it was delicious! The kids who work there are generally really sweet.

I also really love Norma's, but the prices have grown ridiculous.

Just in case you change your mind, I wanted to share that we had our first anniversary dinner at Copley's. They made it so special, congratulating us several times and giving us a terrific table. Of course, the food was wonderful.

10 Best Cakes in Los Angeles

Judi, I could not agree more. When we got married, we had two cakes from Lark: the salted caramel and a chocolate mousse. We figured that the caramel was an unusual flavor which children and people with more traditional tastes would not care for. We thought the chocolate would be too boring for our more adventurous guests. We figured on having lots of cake left over but what happened is that most people wanted "a little of both." We hardly had any cake left for us! BTW, Lark was fantastic, reliable and friendly. The cakes were a hit!

Fig & Olive - Is it still there

Ate there last night. Food was a bit hit or miss. One friend really enjoyed her striped bass en papillote; another liked her branzino quite a bit. My carrot and thyme soup was lovely. However, the zucchini carpacchio was terribly disappointing, especially considering the price (someone just sliced a raw squash thinly and tossed pine nuts atop the dish). The crostini, apparently the signature appetizer, were only so-so; I definitely could have put these together at home with a little canned fig jam, marcona almonds and boxed crackers. The pot de creme was smooth and tasty but nothing special.

However, I must say that the service was wonderful! I was concerned about this, given the reviews I have read on CH. Our greeter, server and bussers were all extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. No attitude whatsoever.

Shout out for Hole-in-the-wall Burger Joint (WeHo)

It is rare that I enjoy burger places as much as my friends since I do not eat red meat . But I was really, really pleased with the ground chicken burger.

Shout out for Hole-in-the-wall Burger Joint (WeHo)

Quite impressed by the ground chicken burger at Hole-in-the Wall! Absolutely delicious on their pretzel bread and topped with perfectly-grilled onions. The patty itself was flavorful and juicy. Price was reasonable given the generous size of the burger.

All of the employees were absolutely delightful.

I will definitely be returning.

Moving to Claremont

Right....there is not a decent place in the Village for coffee. Unfortunately, this is accurate. Strange given the number of colleges.
