the most delicious vegetable side EVER!

I have used this recipe, that I found in a blog about 5 - 6 months ago and it is almost exactly the same but the vegetables are cooked standing up and it makes for a verry pretty side dish. I made it for a dinner party of 6 and everyone raved about it.......

Romano Salad Dressing

I know I will probably be crucified on this post, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to make or even where to possibly purchase the Romano Cheese Salad Dressing that Pizza Hut uses in their house salad. I really like that dressing and can not seem to get an answer from the restaurant or find it on any site or in any grocery store. Would really love if someone could point me in the right direction.

Lunch Very Near BWI Airport

Next to Little spice is Cantina Mama Lucia - - they deliver and have good Italian Fast food. By This I mean you order at the counter - they prepare it and then you pick it up and take it to a table. Also for delivery but it is over in Odenton , ( we have food delivered to Annapolis Junction) is Angelico La Pizzeria - 1646 Annapolis Road Odenton MD 410-672-2500 their website is - I can personally vouch for their sandwiches - they have excellent fresh baked Focaccia bread which is delicious - for me it is all about the bread, and the fillings are great too. They have some sandwiches you will not find elsewhere.

Tuna melt, revisited

Mine is on a bagel - toasted til golden in oven, pull out place a slice of muenster cheese on each half and place back in oven til bubbly and melted, pull out of the oven and put tuna, made with mayo and sweet pickles, on one side, grate on some fresh black pepper and close up the bagel making a sandwich. This is one of my favorite sandwiches at home. I usually do not get them out, because I can not get them like this - most place like to serve them open face.

Sausage for chicago style deep dish pizza?

I have to ask a question I have always wondered, since I have never had a real Chicago style deep dish - but I have seen them a lot on the tube....... Placing the sausage on the pizza raw - what happens to all of the grease coming out of the sausage, doesn't it soak into the crust ??? always been curious, but have never seen anyone touch on the subject....

Cauliflower? Ummm... Yummmm!

Yes GHG you are correct. I only had my handwritten version, but that is almost exact. I would advise any cauliflower lovers out there to try this it is wonderful. I have had very many people say they do not like cauliflower but do like this very much.

Cauliflower? Ummm... Yummmm!

I like it 2 different ways.
1. Since I have developed an allergy to shrimp, I usually cut up some raw cauliflower and dip it in a coctail sauce (ketchup and horseradish style) and make believe I am eating steamed shrimp.
2. My second favorite way I learned from a chef while I was traveling overseas. His name for it was puffed cauliflower and it is basically a souflee'd casserole type of dish. You make a white sauce with 2 egg yolks added in and about a cup of grated cheddar. One head of cauliflower broken into flourets and steamed til crisp tender , another cup of cheese, 1/2 cup of fresh bread crumbs, and the two egg whites beaten stiff. Mix all and fold in egg whites, pour into a casserole that has been greased and additional bread crumbs added to the dish. Sprinkle some additional crumbs on top and bake @ 350 for 45 minutes.

Recipes for Commercially Frozen Blueberries and/or Strawberries

I have used a recipe in the past for a Strawberry Nut bread, that everyone loves. I got it years ago in one of the Southern Living Annual cookbooks - I believe it was 1984 - not sure now - I know I have it at home. It is very easy and uses the frozen containers or now bags of Strawberries. I still make it once or twice a year.

Stoney Creek Inn for Crabs?

I go there at least once a week - it is a local neighborhood restaurant - we love it - have had some of the best crabs in the last few years there this year. We always have a good time and the owners are wonderful.

Sour beef and dumplings bmore?

I have said it once before, please try the SB&D at The Sunset Restaurant, in Glen Burnie. It is very good. Nice size chunks of beef, great dumplings and delicious sauce to cover all.

Great Apple Orchards?

Also something to think about is the National Apple Harvest Festival. It is the first 2 weekends in October . It is located just a little north of Gettysburg PA. It is not an orchard, but they have apples and everything imaginable with apples. Apple pancakes, apple sausage, apple cider, apple butter, etc., etc... check out their website for directions. Wife and I have been going for years. There is something for everyone. Crafts, Antique cars, Antique steam engines performing work, music, food...... they have it all.

Great Apple Orchards?

In Maryland try Larriland Farm which is a pick your own farm for everything imaginable

Thurmont area family style? Peter Pan?

This may not help with Peter Pan which I also remember but if you are looking for a very good family style restaurant try Friendly Farms in Upperco Md., just off of Rt 83, exit 27. Try their website

Cajun in MD?

Copelands is still open in Columbia - near the Lake across the street from the mall

Berger Cookies?

Look in the latest Saveur magazine they have a fullpage dedicated to the Berger cookie as the Baltimore favorite cookie

Shoepeg Corn - Why the Blank Stares?

When I said variety Imeant Shoepeg not Mitchells

Shoepeg Corn - Why the Blank Stares?

If I am not mistaken I have found that variety in the frozen vegetable section under Hanover products.

best of Linthicum/Hanover area in Md

I will recommend Gunnings for great seafood, and Cream of Crab soup. They have really good batter on their "hard Fries" literally a hard crab cleaned out and dipped in their batter and fried, they are delicious. Also you have to try their deep fried Pepper Rings. They are a different taste then the normal Onion Rings and made with Green Peppers. Very good also.

As a poster said below, I will also recommend Snyders for very good and tasty Prime Rib. I got the small portion approx 6 months ago and it was still a very large piece of rib and very tasty. Also where most restaurants will offer a horseradish sauce, they brought out straight horseradish which I really liked.

Recent Baltimore Crab house info

If you live in Glen Burnie now I highly recommend Anne Arundel Seafood on Mountain Road or it's sister store Fifer Seafood on Ft Smallwood Road in Pasadena. Both have very good crabs and any other style seafood you may want from raw - oysters, clams - to Fried - shrimp, fish, oysters, clams, crabcakes - to steamed - shrimp, fish, lobsters, clams, oysters - to crab imperials, stuffed shrimp, stuffed lobster tails - to soups, crab, cream of crab, oyster stew, clam chowder, to salads and sides. Also Subs and sandwiches. Both restaurants have picnic table style seating, and I believe have very good seafood.

Affordable knife shop in Baltimore

bmorecupcake - I am not sure if you are willing to travel or not, but I have been to a really great knife shop in Intercourse Pa. approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours from here. The name of the place is Country Knives Inc. Address is
4134 Old Philadelphia Pike
PO Box 576
Intercourse PA 17534
Website -

They have a great selection of any type of knife you are looking for. They have the biggest selection of Kitchen knives I have ever seen in one location. You can actually touch and feel any knife they sell. They also have a great selection of Pocket, Hunting, Sport, and collectors knives in their shop. For a person who really likes knives it is a wonderful place to spend an hour or two looking.

Anyone heard of or been to Los Olivos in Scottsdale

Coming to Phoenix /SD area next week and my Daughter remembers years ago going to a Mex restaurant in SD and she really enjoyed it, but we are not even sure if it is still there or even any good now. I will have to front this question by saying we are from Maryland like what most east-coasters think of as Mex food. Taco's/burritos/chimi's/good salsa and chips. Just looking for any replies, might surprise the daughter and take her back there like she wants to.

Recommendations in Annapolis

I have also been to Harry Brownes for the Sunday Brunch with another couple. We had a very good meal there. Their Crumb cake for desert was to die for . I actually asked for and received the recipe. It was great at Christmas time parties. I would also like to add that Treaty of Paris is no longer having a brunch. We made reservations and they never told us this on a Sunday morning. When we got there everything was locked up tight.

Much luck asking for a chef's recipe?

I have had luck on 2 different occasions, once at a nice seafood restaurant where some friends had give me a class for their seafood recipes. The Restaurant gave us many more recipes then we used in the class. The other was a nice restaurant 4 of us went one day for their Sunday Brunch. There was a wonderful crumb cake that had to be absolutely the best I had ever eaten. I asked the waitress if there was anyway she could get the recipe for me, and 10 minutes later she brought it out to me. I made it this year for Christmas and it turned out wonderful.

ISO Boneless Center Cut Pork Chop Recipe

My family loves when I make Smothered Pork Chops. I usually fry a few strips of bacon, til crisp, and remove. Dredge chops in a little flour, and brown in the bacon drippings, and remove to a platter to keep warm. Slice a medium onion, and fry in the drippings also. Add a few spoons of flour to make a roux. Add 2 - 3 cups of a good chicken stock, and return the chops to the pan for approx 15 - 20 minutes. Remove chops to a platter and top with the bacon which has been chopped up, and some parsley. Serve the sauce on the side, it goes great with the mashed potatoes.

Suggestion for dinner in or around Pasadena?

I have to agree, Fifer's is very good also. I apologize for posting Windows on the Bay earlier, NAMRET was correct above, it can be a little pricey. Also, not exactly Pasadena as requested, but the Sunset retaurant in Glen Burnie, is always good with the older set.
