Island Park/Oceanside Area
I've lived in and around Oceanside on and off for almost 30 years, and the Knish Factory has always been there ;) It is an awful location, but the rugelachs are awesome. Whistlestop Bakery is also back there, and they make great cheesecake. As for Artie's, as my 5 year old says "This is the best fish ever!". You might also want to check out Steinberg's on Long Beach Rd, in the Lincoln Shopping Center. Excellent, authentic Jewish bakery. Try the chocolate meltaways and almond horns. My husband, who's from LA, was in there every day when we first moved back here.
5 year old wants pasta & steak
Thank you everyone, we did go to landmarc and my daughter loved her little steak, and my husband loved his burger. So we won all around!

My 5 year old daughter only wants pasta and steak for her birthday. Does anyone have a recommendation for a place we can get a good, but affordable, steak preferrably in mid-town (but other recs appreciated) on Sunday afternoon? Thanks!
Nassau South Shore good dinner on the cheap.
There is a Portuguese chicken place called Antonio's in Oceanside on Long Beach Rd off of Merrick Rd (from Freeport, make a left onto LB Rd). It's tasty and pretty cheap if you only order the chicken (it come with sides). Blue Moon in RVC is pretty good too, and not too pricey (Italian).

I just started working at Francis Lewis HS in Fresh Meadows and I'm looking for recs for good (cheap) lunches in the area. Hopefully I can get some good ethnic eats which are sorely missing from where I live on the Island. Thanks.
What foods do you HAVE to mail order?
See's-yes-I lived in SF for 10 years and then moved back to NY. Every Christmas my husband gets me a couple of pounds of See's which I eat super slow over the next few weeks.

I've heard that Sweet Things on Long Beach Rd in Oceanside has really good cupcakes. I've had cake from them, and it was super tasty and beautiful.

Best South Shore (LI) Seafood?
Check out Arties's (South Shore Fish Market) in Island Park, it's just an extention of the market, but the food is great (it's BYO), or Jordan's. You can order a lobster and sit outside.
To those who have full, busy days:
I actually just started using a slow cooker (crock pot), and I'm super happy with the results. Dinner is just waiting for us when we come home. We also do stir frys, burgers, chops and lots of pasta. oh, and the simmer sauces from TJ's are a quick meal too.
bachelorette dinner for about 15
I need to find a moderate restaurant around W 14th St and 7th Ave for a party of 15. I know it's hard to fit that many people in one place, but if anyone has suggestions, it would be great. Thank you!
