Speed's Hotdog (Now Boston Super Dog) at Charlestown Navy Yard this week

Like many, I am still confused. Did Speed really let Greg use his name, truck and location without providing him with the recipe for a few years? Now, the real Speed recipe has returned with a different operator? This is all amicable? Based upon Greg's history of posting on this board, isn't his silence meaningful?
I smell an ugly dispute that ended with a confidential agreement in which both sides agree not to disparage each other. The only way to tell whose dogs are for real is to compare the results when both the new "real" Speed's reopens.

Best bets at Chelmsford Rt.4 rotary Starbucks?

That location has the Clover brewing system. There are usually 4-6 different coffees brewed by the cup - either hot or over ice. I have never eaten there.

Speed's Has Added Grilled Pastrami and it's worth a special visit

I went this afternoon and had the pastrami with mustard but no BBQ sauce. The sandwich was terrific. What makes the pastrami special is the cooking method, not the meat. Good, but not great pastrami. Worth the trip for either the hot dog or the pastrami.

Pork vs. Boar

I have had wild boar steak once. It was very strong and gamey - I could not finish it. I suspect there must be a difference between what some places call wild boar as ScubaSteve is a reliable source.

Fried Ipswich or Essex Clams

There's a new post on the Boston Board that the Clam Box will be open through the winter this year.

Call the Clam Box before you go. I am not sure that it is open year-round. If it is open, it is worth the trip!

Horrible experience at Roy's

I have had excellent experiences at the Roy's in Maui (both), San Francisco and La Jolla. The service seems friendlier and more efficient in Hawaii but I never had a problem with the service (or the food).

Wolfgang Puck Catering at the Museum of Science?

I recently attended an event catered at MOS by Wolfgang Puck catering. I was not impressed. The pulled pork was bland and the hamburgers were undercooked.

Summer Shack (Alewife) Again

When I had the SS version of Indian Pudding, I had hard ice cream substituted for the soft serve. It is okay. Not to prolong the fight but Legal one point had a pretty decent version of Indian Pudding. Alas, it is no longer.

Lobster roll - Kimball Farm in Jaffrey

My experience is the same as Hargau. Growing up I remember that Brighams had frozen pudding ice cream - the most hideous stuff. It is a stupid and deceptive name and I can see why someone would think that it might actually taste like what we think of as pudding.

where are the deli's?

To prevent any disappointment, you should keep in mind that you cannot compare Boston area delis with NYC delis. There are some decent delis as discussed in past threads.

Best upscale chain restaurants?

What is upscale? Mortons, Smith & Wollensky, Ruth's Chris? I think that these have higher prices than CF. My preference is Roy's, particularly the butterfish.

Speed's new dog

I tried the new dog today. While the new dogs look different, the difference in taste is not significant IMHO - maybe a little better. The Speed's dog is 95% the experience and preparation and the other 5% is the sausage. I give Greg a great deal of credit for keeping the wagon going and sharing the opportunity for those like me who never met Speed. Even without the legendary long cooking time of Speed, the dog is still hands down the best in my experience.

Cheap Eats in Vegas

We hit Settebello. Terrific pizza, very different from the usual East Coast pizza.
We also ate at Sam Woo. The place has a real non-touristy Chinatown feel - surprising for a chain. The meats were great. Lo mein and veggies were okay but overall worth a detour.
We had a mixed grill for two at Rincon de Buenos Ares - unique with sweetbreads and blood sausage included. The meal was a highlight.
We had a nice dinner at Ventano. At one point, when the service became slow, the chef came out, took our order, apologized and gave us a complimentary dessert. The food was great and the hospitality was overwhelming.
We grabbed a quick meal at a local taco chain - Roberto's. It was nothing special but passable - strictly a choice of geographic convenience. We had another quick meal at Yum Yum BBQ - Hawaiian comfort food: chicken katsu and spam misubi (another choice of geographic convenience). It was adequate but not worth going out of your way - I suspect there are better options in this category in LV.
We were pleasantly surprised with the range of food at reasonable prices. Thanks for all the advice here and on other threads!

East Coast Grill- Dinner Qs

The BBQ is pretty good but I would take a pass on the brisket. The seafood is better. I have had the monkfish and the bluefish.

Does the East Coast Grill Serve Great BBQ?

Although it ranks with the best in the area (which does not make it great), it does not make the "Best BBQ" threads because it is not a barbeque joint.

Cheap Eats in Vegas

I will be spending a week in Vegas with my 18 year old son. He eats anything and everything. I am trying not to break the bank. We would like to avoid chains. We will be staying south of the airport and would like to stay away from the Strip and downtown - we have enough recommendations from other threads. I realize that Vegas is not necessarily a cheap eats destination. We probably are looking for places where the locals eat. No food is too exotic for us (except insects).

Disappointing....B & G Oysters

I had dinner there on Saturday. In the week leading up to the dinner, I read the posts with increasing trepidation. The actual experience wildly exceeded my expectations. The staff was cordial and gracious. We enjoyed our meal. We started with a selction of four varieties of oysters. The oysters were great. Our entrees were sea scallops and Portuguese style clam stew. The scallops were very good but the stew was the best version of this dish I ever had. We had the ricotta bomboli with chocolate sauce. The bomboli were great and the sauce was good.
We avoided the lobster roll - at $29 it is nearly impossible for it to justify the price. While I appreciate that at B&G's prices one might expect sublime food, my experience was quite different than the majority of posts.

Roy's (downtown) - Review (moved from LA)

For some reason, Roy's in Hawaii is a notch above the mainland versions. On the trio sampler, I always ask for it undercooked because the small pieces of fish tend to get overcooked too fast. The dishes are heavy on the sauces but I like it that way.
